— Strengthens future growth engine with AI•humanoid technology•top-tier talent and builds an R&D Innovation center
EXTON, Pa. and SEONGNAM, South Korea, July 28, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Doosan Robotics is stepping up its transformation into a global intelligent robot solutions provider, advancing a multifaceted growth strategy that includes international acquisitions, expert recruitment, and organizational realignment—all aimed at leading the emerging Physical AI era.
On July 28, Doosan Robotics' board of directors approved the acquisition of an 89.59% stake in ONExia, a U.S.-based robotics system integrator and automation engineering firm headquartered in Pennsylvania. The deal, valued at approximately USD 25.9 million (KRW 35.6 billion), was formalized with a stock purchase agreement (SPA) and participation in a capital increase.
Founded in 1984, ONExia delivers end-to-end automation services, from system design and manufacturing to implementation. The company has established a strong presence in industries such as manufacturing, logistics, and packaging by delivering solutions that boost productivity and reduce operational costs. In recent years, ONExia has focused on developing its own collaborative robotic systems tailored to end-of-line (EOL) processes—such as palletizing, box assembly, and packaging—which are in high demand across North America. As a result, the company has achieved consistent average annual sales growth of around 30%.
Doosan Robotics views the acquisition as a key stepping stone toward accelerating its global competitiveness in the intelligent robotics market. The move signals a strategic shift from a hardware-focused business model toward a more integrated platform centered on AI and software-based robotics solutions.
ONExia brings to the table not only its advanced engineering capabilities and experience in developing industry-specific robotics systems, but also 25 years of accumulated automation data and project execution know-how. These assets are expected to directly enhance Doosan Robotics' AI capabilities and solution development, particularly in areas where data-driven intelligence is critical.
In parallel with this acquisition, Doosan Robotics is ramping up its investments in internal R&D. The company is in the final stages of recruiting specialized talent across robotics R&D, AI, software development, quality assurance, and corporate strategy. It is also undergoing a structural reorganization of its R&D division, placing greater focus on AI, software, and humanoid technologies. Additionally, a new R&D Innovation Center, designed to provide an optimal development environment, is scheduled for completion within the third quarter of this year.
Kevin (Minpyo) Kim, CEO of Doosan Robotics, stated:
"This acquisition marks an important milestone as we take tangible steps to strengthen our global presence, internalize AI technologies, and develop future-ready solutions. ONExia's expertise and established position in the U.S. market will create powerful synergies."

Under the Patronage of His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan ADFW 2025 Set to Double in Size at New Location

ABU DHABI, UAE, Aug. 1, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, and Chairman of the Executive Council, Abu Dhabi Finance Week (ADFW), the largest financial event in the region, will return for an ambitious fourth edition, which will see it double in size, and cement its status as a top global gathering of financial leaders. The flagship financial event of the MEASA region, hosted by ADGM, the international financial centre of Abu Dhabi and headlined by ADQ, will run from 8 th December to 1 1 th December 202 5. The agenda for the 2025 edition is designed around the theme of ' Engineering the Capital Network '. 'Engineering' highlights the use of new technologies in re-architecting modern finance, particularly artificial intelligence and quantum technologies. 'Capital Network' reflects the evolving flows and dynamics of financial centres. In a world where gravitational forces from economic giants like China, India, the U.S., and Europe have increasingly centred the nexus of the global market in the Gulf, Abu Dhabi is at the heart of global capital flows and the destination of choice for global participants. The theme also underscores Abu Dhabi's evolution from primarily a capital exporter to a two-way system of capital flows, powered by leading institutions and a world-class regulatory ecosystem at ADGM. Commenting on this year's ADFW, His Excellency Ahmed Jasim Al Zaabi, Chairman of ADGM, said, " ADFW 2025 is set to be our most ambitious edition of this hugely successful event. With this year's edition to be held at a new location and doubl e in size from last year's ADFW venue, we are setting a new standard for financial gatherings in the region and beyond. This reflects Abu Dhabi's growing influence in global capital markets and our commitment to continue creating a truly international financial platform." ADFW has become a launchpad and stage for international deals, partnerships and major announcements. In 2023, global financial institutions representing USD 450 billion of assets under management (AUM) announced at the event that they were setting up in ADGM. This momentum continued in 2024 and during last year's ADFW, institutions representing USD 650 billion in AUM announced they were joining the ADGM community. ADFW 2024 gathered over 20,000+ global leaders, experts, executives, and policymakers, collectively controlling USD 42.5 t rillion of assets, and featured over 350 sessions across more than 60 industry-shaping events and strategic forums, with leaders gathering to address major market challenges in economics, asset management, technology and sustainability. Last year, Abu Dhabi's sovereign wealth funds managed an unparalleled USD 1.7 trillion of assets, cementing its status as the world's wealthiest city and empowering its financial might to drive long-term investments and economic resilience.

Hanwha says US Navy chief toured Philly Shipyard ahead of Korea-US tariff deal

US Navy Secretary John Phelan and White House Budget Director Russell Vought visited Hanwha Group's Philly Shipyard in Philadelphia on Wednesday, just hours before South Korea and the US finalized their new tariff agreement, Hanwha said Friday. The visit is seen as a contributing factor in the deal, with a shipbuilding partnership between the two countries reportedly playing a key role. According to Hanwha, Phelan and Vought toured major production facilities at the Philadelphia site, guided by Hanwha Group Vice Chair Kim Dong-kwan, alongside other senior US government officials. The US delegation also visited Hanwha's welding training center and inspected equipment relocated from the company's Hanwha Ocean shipyard in Geoje, South Gyeongsang Province. Hanwha said the American officials' visit focused on reviewing the company's investments to bolster local shipbuilding capacity. Phelan emphasized that establishing a robust marine industry foundation was a top priority for both the Trump administration and the US Navy. Kim reiterated Hanwha's commitment to supporting the revitalization of US shipbuilding by establishing new shipyards and developing related industrial networks. On the day of the visit, Korea and the US agreed to reduce the planned reciprocal tariffs on imports to the US from 25 percent to 15 percent, including on automobiles and auto parts. Hanwha cited a US government source as saying that feedback from the delegation was delivered to US President Donald Trump and influenced the final outcome of the deal. During negotiations, Korea proposed the "Make American Shipbuilding Great Again," or MASGA, an initiative aimed at revitalizing the US shipbuilding industry. Of the $350 billion Korea pledged to invest in the US as part of the agreement, $150 billion will be allocated to enhancing the shipbuilding partnership. Kim also traveled to the US to support the negotiations. Hanwha's Philadelphia Shipyard, acquired for $100 million in 2024, has been positioned as a symbol of Korean support for the US shipbuilding industry. Trade Minister Yeo Han-koo, a member of Korea's tariff negotiation team, said business leaders, including Kim, worked closely with the government by sharing strategic information and leveraging their networks. 'I believe their support definitely contributed to the success of the deal," Yeo said in a briefing after the tariff deal concluded on Wednesday. Hanwha plans to expand the shipyard as a center for shipbuilding, maintenance, overhaul and repair for US naval vessels. The company said it will apply production and operations systems used in Korea to increase annual capacity from one ship to 10 by 2035.

'Baby Shark' Pinkfong eyes management buyout alongside IPO: reports

The Pinkfong Company, creator of the global children's sensation "Baby Shark," is reportedly pursuing a management buyout in parallel with its planned market debut, according to industry sources on Friday. In May, the company filed for a preliminary review to list on the Kosdaq, marking a renewed push for an initial public offering six years after it first floated the idea in 2019. Multiple industry reports suggest that Pinkfong is in talks with potential buyers regarding a management sale. According to Maeil Business Newspaper, the deal may involve major shareholder stakes, with a potential price tag in the hundreds of billions of won. Major shareholders include CEO Kim Min-seok with an 18.44 percent stake, Editorial Samsung with 16.77 percent and telecom giant KT holding 9.1 percent. Editorial Samsung is Pinkfong's parent company, and Kim is the son of Editorial Samsung CEO Kim Jin-yong. Founded in 2010 as an entertainment subsidiary producing animations, songs and films, Pinkfong shot to global fame in 2016 with its breakout hit "Baby Shark." The song and its accompanying video became a viral sensation among children worldwide, with "Baby Shark Dance" holding the title of YouTube's most-viewed video at over 16 billion views to date. The company was once valued at over 1 trillion won ($714 million) during its Series B funding round in 2021, reportedly becoming the first Korean content firm to achieve unicorn status. However, its valuation is believed to have declined in recent years amid weakening performance. Annual revenue dropped from 117 billion won in 2022 to 94.6 billion won in 2023, with operating profit swinging from 3.7 billion won to a 3.2 billion won loss. Earnings recovered in 2024, with revenue rising to 97.3 billion won and operating profit rebounding to 18.8 billion won. Pinkfong recently opened its fifth overseas subsidiary in Japan and is expanding its global footprint while growing its YouTube consulting and intellectual property businesses. The company's flagship YouTube channel has racked up 51.3 billion cumulative views and boasts 82.6 million subscribers. Its content is now available in 25 languages across 244 countries.
