Day of joy as families welcome newborns on Eid Al Adha
Up and down the country, maternity staff faced a busy morning as they helped deliver babies. At Ras Al Khaimah Hospital, Zayed Hamed Sayed Hamed Hamed was born at 5.45am, weighing 2.18kg.
As the third child of Egyptian parents, Hamed Sayed Hamed and Eman Mohamed, his arrival marked a joyful start to Eid.
'We are happy and blessed to have this baby arrive to us on Eid,' said Ms Mohamed, who is recovering in the hospital.
The hospital's executive director, Dr Raza Siddiqui, congratulated the family, as well as all parents welcoming newborns in the UAE.
"It is always special to welcome new life, but babies born on Eid Al Adha carry an added blessing,' he said. 'We at RAK Hospital feel privileged to be part of such joyous moments and congratulate all families celebrating this double delight."
At NMC Royal Hospital in Abu Dhabi, Jordanian citizen Rehaf Mohamed Mansour gave birth to her first child, a daughter called Sila, who was delivered at 1.39am on Friday.
'I am very happy to have my Eid gift as my angel,' said Ms Mansour, who thanked hospital staff for their efforts.
At Aster Hospital Al Qusais, Mansoor Ali and Haneena Saithammarakathu Lanchira Purayil celebrated the arrival of their son at 4.39am. 'We are overwhelmed with joy to welcome our baby boy on this special Eid Al Adha – a moment that makes this day even more unforgettable for our family,' Ms Purayil said.
'We extend our deepest gratitude to the incredible doctors and medical team at Aster Hospital Al Qusais for their exceptional care and support. This is a truly blessed and memorable start to our journey as parents.'
New support system
Meanwhile, as part of an initiative to mark Eid, thousands of children in Dubai are to benefit from a fund to support those most in need.
About 10,000 children are in line to receive support from the Eidiya programme introduced by the Community Development Authority, in collaboration with the Endowments and Minors' Trust Foundation (Awqaf Dubai). The fund will be used to aid the social development of children who are most in need of financial support, including orphans.
'The Eidiya is not just financial support, it's a heartfelt message meant to bring joy to children during these blessed days and to make them feel valued and cared for,' said Hessa Buhumaid, director general of the authority.
'Giving Eidiya is a cherished tradition in our culture and the happiness it brings to children is truly priceless. We aim to make the most of religious, national and social occasions to highlight the value of each individual in society.
'Children, as the heart of the family and the foundation of the future, deserve our full attention and support. Caring for their daily well-being helps build their confidence in themselves and in their community.'

UAE delivers lifeline to Gaza's dying healthcare system
The UAE, through its humanitarian efforts and relief aid under Operation Chivalrous Knight 3, has managed to keep the Gaza Strip's health sector operational, averting total collapse and ensuring continued medical services for the Palestinian people. The UAE demonstrated utmost readiness and high professionalism during its swift intervention to address the escalating medical challenges in the Gaza Strip. This was evident through its presence on the ground via the Emirati field hospital inside the Strip, the floating hospital deployed to Egypt's Al Arish city, the transfer of critical and severe cases to UAE hospitals for treatment, and the dispatch of various medical aid and supplies to enhance Gaza's health sector capabilities. Since its inauguration in December 2023, the Emirati integrated field hospital in Gaza has continued to provide treatment services to the people of Gaza through specialised and qualified cadres in various medical fields, supported by medical volunteers. By April 2025, the number of cases treated at the hospital exceeded 51,000, including critical injuries and complex surgical operations. Through the hospital, the UAE launched a humanitarian initiative to provide prosthetics for injured individuals who underwent amputations, aiming to support their rehabilitation and help them regain their normal lives. The facility has a capacity of 200 beds and includes operating rooms equipped for various types of surgeries. The medical team successfully removed a 5-kilogramme tumour from the abdomen of a patient who had endured years of severe pain and complications. In February 2024, the UAE dispatched an integrated floating hospital off the coast of Al Arish to provide medical support to Palestinians. The facility includes a medical and administrative team across various specialties, such as anaesthesiology, general surgery, orthopaedics, and emergency medicine. By April 2025, the hospital had treated approximately 10,370 cases. It has a capacity of 100 beds, operating rooms, intensive care units, radiology, a laboratory, a pharmacy, and medical warehouses. 1,000 cancer patients In addition to on-the-ground support, the UAE has also facilitated the transfer of critical patients to its hospitals. Under the directives of President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE committed to hosting 1,000 Palestinian cancer patients of all ages, as well as 1,000 Palestinian children with their families, to ensure they receive complete healthcare until they can return home. By May 14, a total of 2,634 patients and family members had arrived in the UAE, demonstrating the country's commitment to providing necessary treatment. Medical and health supplies constitute a significant part of the total humanitarian aid the UAE continues to deliver to Gaza since the beginning of the crisis. These include various types of medicines and equipment, such as dialysis machines, ultrasound devices, lung resuscitation devices, wheelchairs, artificial respiration masks, and ambulances. 1,200 tonnes of medical materials, supplies After 500 days since the launch of Operation Chivalrous Knight 3, the UAE has provided more than 1,200 tonnes of medical materials and supplies to support Gaza's hospitals. The health system was further reinforced with 17 ambulances equipped with the latest technology. A comprehensive polio vaccination campaign was also implemented, covering over 640,000 children as part of preventive efforts to protect future generations from infectious diseases. Between January 1 and April 24, 2025, Dubai Humanitarian sent three relief shipments to Al Arish International Airport in support of Gaza, carrying approximately 256 metric tonnes of medical supplies belonging to the World Health Organisation. To enhance public health and prevent communicable diseases, the UAE also contributes through projects and initiatives that provide safe drinking water in the Gaza Strip and implements measures to repair sewage networks, aiming to reduce pollution and curb the spread of epidemics and infectious diseases.

Dubai Municipality has announced significant achievements in food safety and inspection efforts during the first half of 2025, conducting 34,700 inspection visits across food establishments throughout the emirate. These inspections ensured compliance with approved health regulations and safety standards, reaffirming the Municipality's pivotal role in protecting public health and ensuring the availability of safe, high-quality food in Dubai. These efforts form part of the Municipality's broader mission to build an integrated and sustainable food system that improves quality of life for residents and visitors alike, while supporting Dubai's vision of becoming one of the most liveable and future-ready cities in the world. The first half of 2025 also saw exceptional growth in the food sector, with the opening of approximately 2,336 new food establishments. This expansion reinforces Dubai's reputation as a leading destination for investment in the food and hospitality industries. At the same time, around 173,775 food shipments — totalling 4.9 million tons — were cleared through Dubai's ports, strengthening the city's strategic role as a global food trade gateway. In addition to these milestones, Dubai Municipality cleared approximately 940,000 food items following rigorous inspections and registered around 77,700 new food products in its approved databases. These figures reflect the efficiency of the Municipality's digital food registration and inspection systems, which are aligned with international best practices and evolving safety protocols. Response Plus Holding reports AED 248mln revenue in the first six months of 2025

Announcing the company's interim financial results for the first half of 2025, RPM registered net profit of AED 20.32 million, while total assets touched AED 404.32 million, up from AED 387.44 million as of December 31, 2024, reflecting continued balance sheet strength and sustained investment momentum.
