Liam Payne's Blood Alcohol Content At Time of Death Near Lethal Levels
While Payne, 31, was not driving at the time, for context, the legal blood alcohol content (BAC) in the U.S. for drivers over 21 is 0.08%; 2.7 grams per liter translates to 0.27% BAC, which is more than three times the U.S. driving limit.

According to the American Addiction Centers' Alcohol.org, that BAC can cause, 'confusion, feeling dazed, and disorientation… Sensations of pain will change, so if you fall and seriously hurt yourself, you may not notice, and you are less likely to do anything about it.' Other potential effects include: blackouts, nausea, vomiting and impairment of the gag reflex, 'which could cause choking or aspirating on vomit.'
The Cleveland Clinic also notes that while a BAC of 0.15%-0.30% can cause the above symptoms and drowsiness, Payne's measured level was just below the BAC (0.30%-0.40%) that can cause alcohol poisoning, 'a potentially life-threatening condition… [which can cause a] loss of consciousness.'
The Argentinian report noted that in addition to the dangerous BAC, the autopsy revealed that Payne — whose death it said was a result of 'multiple trauma and internal and external bleeding' caused by a fall from a three-story hotel balcony — also had cocaine metabolites, methylecgonine, benzoylecgomine, cocaethylene and the medication sertraline (Zoloft).
The prosecutor's office announced in November that a toxicology report said Payne had 'alcohol, cocaine and prescription antidepressants' in his system when he died on Oct. 16.
Last week, an Argentinian court dropped charges of criminal negligence against three of the five people indicted in connection with Payne's death. The court cleared the head receptionist at the CasaSur Hotel, Esteban Grassi, Argentinian-American businessman Rogelio Nores, a friend who accompanied Payne on the trip, and Gilda Martin, the hotel's manager. Grassi made two emergency calls prior to the deadly accident, first reporting that a guest was 'trashing the entire room' and later expressing concerns that the guest 'may be in danger.'
In a recent Rolling Stone exposé, Payne's former girlfriend, model Maya Henry, described the singer's longtime struggles with depression and addiction, saying he became 'someone unrecognizable' when he was using substances.

Bryan Kohberger's Jail Habits Revealed: Washed Hands ‘Dozens of Times' a Day, Stayed Awake ‘Almost All Night'
Bryan Kohberger will spend the rest of his life behind bars for the horrific quadruple murders of the Idaho Four – and according to newly released reports, he exhibited some strange habits during his time in jail. Corporal Brett Payne, the lead investigator in the case, spoke with an inmate at Latah County Jail who alleged that Kohberger, 30, 'became annoying' to share space with as he would spend '45 minutes to an hour in the shower,' and washed his hands 'dozens of times' per day. He also reportedly kept an odd sleep schedule and 'would be awake almost all night' and could be heard 'moving around.' As for Kohberger's temperament behind bars, the inmate recalled him losing his cool once when he misunderstood a a comment. According to Payne's report, the inmate shouted 'you suck' at an athlete on television and Kohberger 'immediately got up' and 'aggressively asked' if he'd been referring to him or his mother. Other than the brief altercation, the inmate said the convicted killer was 'highly intelligent and polite for the most part.' While Kohberger allegedly chose not to speak about his own charges, he would 'often question' the inmate about what he did to land himself in jail. As the National Enquirer previously reported, aside from his chat with the inmate, Detective Payne also spoke with Kohberger when he was taken into police custody after the brutal slayings of Ethan Chapin, 20, Xana Kernodle, 20, Madison Mogen, 21, and Kaylee Goncalves, 21. He said they initially made 'small talk,' as the 30-year-old admitted that he'd once 'thought about being a police officer' himself, according to the released case documents. Kohberger also spoke about his interest in criminal justice and his appreciation for the 'beauty' of the state of Washington, where he attended college. However, when the subject shifted to the Idaho murders, Kohberger invoked his Fifth Amendment Rights. More than two years later, he officially confessed to killing the four University of Idaho students in 2022 as a part of a plea agreement that would allow him to avoid the potential of receiving the death penalty if the case went to trial. At his sentencing hearing on July 23, Judge Steven Hippler appeared to become emotional as he addressed Kohberger in court. 'I listened intently to the stories and pain that have been shared today with great awe at the courage and resilience of the surviving family members of those wonderful children,' Hippler said at the time. Kohberger was sentenced to serve four consecutive life sentences.

Miami sailing camp disaster boat captain tested for alcohol after deadly collision, 7-year-old victim ID'd
The U.S. Coast Guard has confirmed that the captain of the tugboat involved in Monday's deadly collision, which claimed the lives of two young girls attending a sailing camp, was tested for alcohol, as part of the agency's ongoing investigation. One of the two girls killed has been identified as 7-year-old Mila Yankelevich, the granddaughter of an award-winning Argentinian TV producer, Cris Morena, according to La Nacion. The Argentine Consulate in Miami confirmed her identity with Fox News Digital. "With regard to the accident that occurred in the city of Miami, the Consulate General and Promotion Center of the Argentine Republic has been informed of the incident and remains fully available to assist the family members who reside within its jurisdiction," the consulate said in a statement to Fox News Digital. Yankelevich's grandfather, Gustavo Yankelevich, and father, Tomas Yankelevich, are also producers, while her mother, Sofia Reca, is an actor, the Argentinian outlet reported. Yankelevich and a second victim, a 13-year-old whose identity has not been confirmed, died after being transferred to Jackson Memorial Hospital Monday. Officials said that an 8-year-old girl and an 11-year-old girl were in critical condition. Also rescued were a 12-year-old girl, a 19-year-old girl, and a female instructor. Capt. Frank Florio, commander of Coast Guard Sector Miami, said in a Tuesday evening press conference that the young girls were wearing life vests at the time of the collision. Florio said the alcohol-level test is standard procedure after the barge struck the sailboat at 11:30 a.m. Monday. He did not disclose the test results or details of the tugboat captain's statement to investigators. Fox News Digital has reached out to the Coast Guard Sector Miami for comment. We owe you answers, and we are committed to finding them "We owe you answers, and we are committed to finding them," Florio said, addressing the grieving families directly Tuesday. Investigators will also be looking into whether the tug and barge's crew were properly licensed to be on the water, he said. "The crane just completely destroyed the boat," one witness told WSVN. "The boat just went under, and I heard a girl shouting for help under the crane." Florio also confirmed that the investigation will include the Miami Yacht Club, from where the girls launched their sailboat as part of a summer camp program. The popular sailing program, started in 1927, boasts of summer camps in a "very secure area at the Biscayne Bay," their website says. Biscayne Bay is a heavily trafficked waterway, serving commercial shipping, recreational boating, sailing camps and clubs and fishing and diving. The Miami Yacht Club shared on social media that they were cooperating with law enforcement. Fox News Digital has reached out to the Miami Yacht Club for comment. "Out of respect for the families impacted and to allow for the necessary response efforts, the Miami Yacht Club campus, including all our partnering organizations' facilities, will be closed until further notice," they said. In another statement, they wrote: "The Miami Yacht Club is more than just a campus of organizations on the water – it's a family – and today, we share in the deep grief of our extended sailing community family. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families, the sailors, and the dedicated instructors and volunteers who give so much to this program."
