Hyd'bad top cop flags off grand Bonalu procession
The Commissioner highlighted the remarkable 350-year history of the Sri Akkanna Madanna Temple. He noted that during the Qutub Shahi rule in 1675, pujas were performed here for a decade. Following the demise of Akkanna and Madanna, the pujas ceased. However, after India gained independence, the temple was meticulously reconstructed, and its sacred pujas and festivals were joyfully resumed. Anand recounted that Goddess Mahankali was historically invoked to protect everyone from plagues, diseases, and floods, and she consistently provided that protection.
CV Anand also mentioned that the Bonalu festival has been celebrated grandly for the past month, with Ministers Ponnam Prabhakar and Konda Surekha taking a special interest and providing all necessary support to organise it on an unprecedented scale this year.
Regarding security arrangements, the Commissioner explained that robust police security had been put in place at the temple and along the Ghatam procession route to prevent stampedes. He also stated that arrangements had been made in coordination with all departments to ensure devotees faced no inconvenience. He further noted that She Teams and Crime Teams had been deployed specifically to prevent eve-teasing, pickpocketing, and chain snatching. The Commissioner thanked all Hyderabad officials for performing their duties to ensure the Bonalu festival was conducted peacefully.

CHENNAI: The Madras High Court has issued a gag order to YouTuber 'Savukku' Shankar, temporarily restraining him from making defamatory statements against senior police officer S Davidson Devasirvatham, the Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) – Law and Order, over the Sivaganga custodial death. Justice P Kumaresh Babu, on Friday, passed interim orders on the civil suit and applications filed by the police officer. 'A reading of the statements made against the applicant (Davidson Devasirvatham) would prima facie conclude that they have been making statements in derogatory and defamatory manner, which would affect his reputation as he is holding high office,' the judge said. He added that Article 19(2) of the Constitution carves out a restriction to Article 19(1)(a) – freedom of speech and expression – providing protection to the citizen from being defamed. The interim injunction will be in force for four weeks. The judge also ordered notice to Savukku Shankar, directing him to file a reply to the petition within four weeks, and accordingly adjourned the case. Davidson Devasirvatham moved the application praying for an order of interim injunction restraining the YouTuber, his agents, followers or representatives from publishing, broadcasting, uploading or circulating, in any manner whatsoever, in print, digital or audio-visual form, any contents containing allegedly defamatory allegations, insinuations or imputations against him with respect to the custodial death of Ajith Kumar.

62 complaints received in Makkal Mandram programme held at police stations
Around 207 persons participated in the weekly grievance redressal programme 'Makkal Mandram' held at various police stations across the Union Territory on Saturday. A press release said various police stations in the Union Territory received 62 complaints during the redressal programme organised by the Police Department. Of the total complaints received, 37 have been resolved. Directions have been issued to the concerned police stations to dispose the remaining complaints at the earliest, the release said. While the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Law and Order, R. Sathiyasundaram, attended the programme held at the Orleanpet police station, Senior Superintendent of Police, Law and Order, R. Kalaivanan was present at D. Nagar police station. This initiative will continue every week from 11.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. where senior police officers will visit one police station in their jurisdiction to directly listen and address public complaints.

SHE Teams nabs 644 offenders red-handed during Bonalu festivities
Hyderabad: Hyderabad SHE Teams nabbed 644 offenders during the Bonalu Festival. As many as five individuals were imprisoned for 7 days. They were caught red-handed indulging in various forms of harassment, including eve-teasing, inappropriate behavior, filming women without consent, and other acts violating public decency and women's safety. According to the SHE teams, as part of the intensive safety and surveillance measures undertaken during the Bonalu festival celebrations across Hyderabad, SHE Teams Hyderabad actively monitored public gatherings and festive processions to ensure the safety and dignity of women and girls. Strategic deployment of teams was carried out at major Bonalu venues including Golconda Bonalu, Balkampet Yellamma Bonalu, Ujjaini Mahankali Bonalu (Secunderabad), and Lal Darwaza Mahankali Bonalu. 'With the vigilant presence and swift intervention of SHE Teams, a total of 644 individuals were caught red-handed indulging in various forms of harassment. Among them, 552 were majors and 92 were minors,' said Dr Lavanya NJP, DCP Women Safety Wing. As an of zero tolerance against harassment, five individuals - Ram Anand (51), Nilakanth (48), Balraju (36), Lakshman (42), and Dinesh (34) who were caught red-handed misbehaving with women devotees, were produced before the court. Based on the evidence presented and the severity of the offence, Sri Manda Murali, IXth Special Judicial Magistrate, Nampally, awarded 7 days of imprisonment to the offenders under Section 70(c) of the Hyderabad City Police Act. SHE teams alerts the women to be aware in public places and women and children are requested to stay alert in public places. In case of any misbehavior or molestation, they are advised to raise a complaint with SHE Teams or dial 100/112 for immediate action.
