Pro Football Focus ranks two star Aggies as Top 50 college players

USA Today5 hours ago
Texas A&M will enter the 2025 season stacked with talent at every position. Still, most importantly, the players at the top of the depth chart bring a ton of SEC snaps to the table, especially across the offensive line and at linebacker. In the trenches, left tackle Trey Zuhn III, left guard Chase Bisontis, center Mark Nabou, right guard Ar'maj Reed-Adams, and right tackle Dametreous Crownover all possess NFL potential.
However, Adams represents the entire group due to his elite run-blocking skill set, paired with his violent demeanor and overall toughness, making him a likely first or second-round selection in the 2026 NFL Draft.
This offseason, Adams has been praised by nearly every college football outlet, including Pro Football Focus. Paired with junior linebacker Taurean York, the former three-star recruiting prospects have surpassed their expectations and will be heavily relied upon throughout the 2025 season. This week, PFF released its "50 best players" list, comprised of the site's top-ranked college players heading into the fall.
Unsurprisingly, Adams landed at No. 16 and is the fourth offensive lineman ranked below Clemson's Peter Woods (No. 3), Utah tackle Spencer Fano, and Florida center Jake Slaughter.
"Reed-Adams dominated in his first year with the Aggies. The Kansas transfer ranked second in PFF overall grade, PFF run-blocking grade and PFF WAA among Power Four guards.
He is a powerful player at 6-foot-5 and 330 pounds who can excel in any run-blocking scheme. Reed-Adams led all Power Four guards in gap PFF run-blocking grade and ranked fourth in zone PFF run-blocking grade this past season."
Linebacker Taurean York is regarded as the best or second-best prospect at the position behind former Texas A&M commit Anthony Hill Jr., who has since thrived during his last two seasons with the Longhorns. York's instincts and elite run-stopping ability should result in his best season yet as he continues to improve in coverage.
Just a three-star recruit, York hasn't let his recruiting profile dictate his college career. He has been a starter in each of his first two college seasons and leads all returning Power Four linebackers with 59 run-defense stops since 2023.
His 122 plays with first contact on ball carriers are tied for fourth in the Power Four. York has a stocky build at 6 feet and 235 pounds, and he is an excellent tackler.
In the upcoming College Football 26 video game, Adams possesses the highest rating on the team (93), with York tied for third (90).

Former Minnesota Vikings LB heads out west in PFF's 2014 NFL re-draft

The NFL Draft remains the second-biggest event in the NFL calendar behind the Super Bowl. Like it or not, it also remains one of the biggest things that fans and media enjoy going back and analyzing to see "what could have been." Pro Football Focus has done a good job this offseason by starting a re-draft series that we have been tracking here on Bucs Wire. In their latest draft, they looked back on, it just so happens to be one of the more impactful ones in recent memory for the Minnesota Vikings franchise: The 2014 NFL Draft. Anthony Barr was the Vikings' top draft pick in their class in the 2014 NFL Draft. In the re-draft, he did not get to the Vikings but instead stayed closer to home and his college of UCLA by being drafted by the Denver Broncos. Sikkema writes up the pick, saying, "Barr made four Pro Bowls with the Vikings and earned an 83.8 career PFF pass-rushing grade. He finished his second season, 2015, as one of the 10 most valuable linebackers in the league, according to PFF WAR. Barr and Brandon Marshall would have formed one of the better linebacker units in the NFL." Barr would have a Super Bowl ring to his credit this way, while the Vikings would be left scrambling for more defensive help than they would have imagined.

Auburn EDGE Keldric Faulk among Pro Football Focus' top-50 players list

Faulk is expected to have a stellar season as a member of Auburn's pass rush Earlier in the week Keldric Faulk was revealed as one of the top ten defensive players in the latest EA Sports College Football video game. On Friday night he landed on another list. Pro Football Focus released their top 50 players for the upcoming college football season. Faulk ranked No. 30 among the best players in the nation. PFF mentions in the ranking that he improved with an 83.3 overall rating and was one of the best against the run. Auburn is going to need Faulk to make a huge jump as a pass rusher in 2025. He had seven sacks last season. That was an improvement of only collecting one in his freshman season in 2023. The number of sacks will not be the key indicator of his effectiveness. It will be more important on the number of quarterback pressures Faulk and the rest of the defensive line can get. What helps that unit is the Tigers have an experienced group of defensive backs who can cover their receiver long enough for the pressure to get home. As the ranking for PFF states, Faulk is a good player against the run. Auburn ranked sixth in the SEC as a team allowing 117.8 yards per game on the ground. They were ninth in the conference with just 28 sacks. Faulk has been getting plenty of praise this offseason. PFF earlier in the offseason rated him as a top three defensive lineman in the country. He has also appeared in many mock drafts as a first-round draft pick. It will be interesting to see if Faulk can live up to those expectations this season. Neville Gallimore on what separates Colts' Grover Stewart from other DTs

The Indianapolis Colts' Grover Stewart has steadily been one of the better interior run defenders across the NFL, and Neville Gallimore recently highlighted one aspect of Stewart's game that makes him so difficult to go up against. "I can say I'm labeled as a strong guy, but then you just got guys that are at a different level," Gallimore said. "And it's funny just coming here, Grover is definitely one of those guys, like that dude just throws up weight. He's doing the alternate incline bench 170s, and I'm over here 160s, like yelling, huffing and puffing, and he's like, 'let me get that.'" When an interior defender has the strength advantage, they are difficult to move and can generate quick push, which is the best way to wreck any offensive play. Advertisement Out of 153 eligible defensive tackles last season, Stewart ranked seventh in PFF's run defense grade. He also tallied the seventh-most tackles against the run, along with ranking sixth in stops. And of all the tackles Stewart made, the average play came just 1.3 yards from the line of scrimmage, which was the third-best mark among his position group.
