COPS have named the man who died in hospital almost a month after a horrific three-vehicle crash.
William John Horne, 67, passed away after being involved in a collision on the A982 South Road near Peterhead, Aberdeenshire, on Tuesday, 13 May.

The crash involved a white Volkswagen Transporter, a white Kia Ceed, and a red Seat Alhambra at around 3:30 pm.
Mr Horne was the driver of the Volkswagen.
He was rushed to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary to be treated for his serious injuries, but he tragically passed away in hospital on Sunday, 8 June.
His devastated family paid tribute to the loss of Mr Horne.
Thanking the emergency crews that tried to save him, they said: 'Our family is utterly heartbroken by the tragic loss of William John Horne.
"We want to give our sincere thanks to the first responder, police, paramedics, and all the wonderful staff at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary ICU for their care and attention to William.'
The occupants of the other vehicles received treatment for non-serious injuries.
Police Scotland said enquiries into the tragedy remain ongoing as officers continue to appeal for information.
Constable John Grant, of the North East Road Policing Unit, said: 'Our thoughts are with William's family, who have asked for privacy at this difficult time.
'Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances, and anyone with information who can assist and has not already spoken to officers is asked to get in touch.'

New police figures show shock rise in race hate crime in Scotland
A report by Police Scotland shows that hate crime is on the increase across the country and at a three year high. Record numbers of people across Scotland are falling victim to hate crimes. Shock new figures from Police Scotland show cases of racial and religious abuse have risen sharply in the past three years. However the vast majority of reported crimes now involve what police term a "racial aggravator." Yesterday anti racism campaigners laid the blame for the increase on the far right and political leaders like Nigel Farage who they accuse of stirring up anti immigration sentiments. In 2022 there were 3838 recorded hate crimes where race was a factor, that rose to 3937 in 2023, and 4953 last year. In the first two months of 2025 there were 738 race related crimes reported to police. Among the regular victims of hate crimes are emergency workers. Figures for last year show 59 attacks on First Responders where racial or religious abuse was involved and 15 in the first two months of this year. Leading human rights lawyer Aamer Anwar has no doubt where the blame rises for the increase in reported hate crime. He said:"Sadly, the statistics come as no surprise, when demonising migrants and minorities is now routine for so many politicians and sections of our media. "The likes of Trump and Farage have empowered the racists and far-right, to think they can abuse with impunity." Robina Qureshi of Glasgow based anti racism charity Positive Action in Housing added: "I'm not surprised to see a rise in reported hate crimes – if anything, I'm surprised the numbers aren't even higher. "Nigel Farage lied about the billions we'd save for the NHS if we left the EU. "Now he's back, pointing the finger at refugees and Muslims, hoping we forget who really gutted this country. "We are living through a period of growing economic hardship and political instability, and history shows that in times like these, marginalised communities – particularly Muslims, immigrants and racial minorities – are often scapegoated." Robina then added:"The figures from Police Scotland are just the tip of the iceberg. "We know that around 75 percent of people who experience racism don't report it to the police. "Many people simply don't believe the justice system will protect them or take their complaints seriously. "To rebuild that trust, we need to see real accountability. "That means robust enforcement of hate crime laws, meaningful convictions that show perpetrators will be held responsible, and urgent action to clamp down on social media platforms that spread misinformation and incite racial hatred. "If we don't address both the root causes and the platforms that amplify hate, these numbers will continue to rise – and with them, the danger to the communities most affected." The rise in crime figures follows the introduction of new hate crime legislation last year by the then First Minister Humza Yousaf. The Hate Crime and Public Order (Scotland) Act became law in April 2024. In the first month alone 462 hate crimes were recorded - a 50 percent increase on April 2023 when 307 complaints were made to police. The following month the number of reports rose to 518 up on the previous years figure of 391. The highest monthly number of complaints since the new law came in was 553 last August up from 366. In the first ten months of the new law there were 4794 hate crimes - more than 2022 and 2023. The Police Scotland report, released under Freedom of Information, also gives a breakdown of the different types of crime where hate crime and racial and religious abuse happens. Hate Crimes are most common where the victim is the subject of threatening or abusive behaviour or the alleged perpetrator is accused of stirring up hatred. However hate crimes have also been recorded against people accused of assault, robbery, domestic abuse, stalking, burglary, shoplifting, arson, knife carrying, vandalism and even offences against children and animals. A Police Scotland spokesperson said:"Hate crime has no place in our society. It will not be tolerated and targeting anyone because of who they are is deplorable. Everyone has a right to live safely as their true and authentic selves, without fear of prejudice. "Continuing to tackle hate crime remains a priority for Police Scotland officers and we treat people who bravely come forward with sensitivity, respect and dignity. "We understand it can be hard for people to report a hate crime, and in some cases to even recognise or acknowledge that they have been a victim. "Some people have been exposed to hate crimes for weeks, months or even years before they are able to report. "Anyone who has been a victim of hate crime should report it Police Scotland and every complaint will be professionally and robustly investigated." There was also an increase last year in the number of religious hate crimes . Police Scotland recorded 572 cases in 2024 compared 477 the previous year. There were also 75 reports in the first two months of this year.

A distressed 999 caller could be heard telling a dispatch officer: "She's in the middle of the road, she's just been knocked over. "Her head's open, there's blood everywhere, she is breathing, the lad's trying to run away, the one who knocked her over. It's not good." Cowardly Monks was filmed by members of the public as he fled from the scene down an alleyway. When officers caught up to the thug his face was covered in blood. He tried to plead innocence and told police: "I wasn't driving, it wasn't me. I've hit my head. I've hurt my head and my jaw." The teen had been riding the Talaria Sting, which had its speed limiter disconnected, alongside Joel Pilling, 22. Pilling handed himself in to police later the same day. Margaret was rushed to hospital with a broken spine, pelvis, arms and 19 broken ribs. She was placed in a coma with life-changing injuries. The 70-year-old who was once "independent" and "always had a smile" is now unable to feed herself. Both Monks and Pilling appeared at Bolton Crown Court yesterday. He was also found guilty of failing to stop at the scene of a collision, failing to report a collision and failing to provide a specimen for analysis following a serious collision. Pilling, who owned the motorbike but held no licence, was given a 22-month sentence, suspended for two years. He must also carry out 250 hours of unpaid work. In an emotional statement after the sentencing, Margaret said: "These men's selfishness have ruined my life. "Before the collision I was an independent lady and always had a smile on my face. "Now my life is dehumanising, reduced to a long list of hospital appointments with no end in sight and I can no longer walk wash or feed myself. "No sentence will bring back my health. But I will not let them beat me as I am determined to recover the best I can." Det Const Steve Pennington, of Greater Manchester Police, said: "This was a shocking incident where two individuals recklessly rode an e-bike through one of Wigan's busiest areas with complete disregard for public safety. "Their dangerous driving resulted in a horrific collision with a grandmother who was simply crossing the road. "She suffered life-changing injuries and spent weeks in a coma - it's nothing short of miraculous that she survived. "This incident highlights the severe consequences of operating e-bikes illegally on our roads. "These aren't toys - they're powerful vehicles that require proper licensing, safety equipment, and responsible handling. "Riding without these essentials isn't just breaking the law - it's putting lives at risk. "At GMP we're committed to reducing serious and fatal collisions across our region. "We actively support national road safety initiatives like the Fatal 4 campaign, targeting the four main causes of serious road incidents: speeding, using mobile phones, not wearing seatbelts, and driving under the influence. "Road safety is everyone's responsibility, and the consequences of ignoring this can be truly catastrophic." Labour are also looking to hike the fines for the cost of seizing, towing and crushing vehicles. Home Secretary Yvette Cooper has already announced powers for police to seize bikes, e-scooters and cars without warning. The problem of nuisance driving has become so bad that some forces have launched dedicated operations to combat it. Operation Vulcan in Oldham has been targeting e-bikes, four of which were seized after their drivers were arrested for drug supply. National Police Chiefs' Council Lead for Roads Policing, Chief Constable Jo Shiner, said: 'Anti-social use of a vehicle, such as street racing, street cruising or off-road use is more than a matter of noise pollution. 'It can have long-term effects on a neighbourhood, with the criminal damage of roads, other vehicles and surrounding property.'

Police were called to Oulton Broad, in Suffolk, at around 7.10pm this evening after reports of a "serious marine collision". East of England Ambulance Service paramedics and the coastguard are at the scene. It is not yet known whether there have been any injuries or fatalities. A spokesperson from Suffolk Constabulary said: "Emergency services are currently on the scene of a serious marine collision at Oulton Broad. "Officers were called just after 7:10pm this evening, Thursday 24 July, to reports of a collision involving a powerboat and a stationary houseboat in the vicinity of Oulton Broad Water Sports Centre.
