The O'Sullivan Law Firm Commits $100,000 as Title Sponsor for First Tee
In 2024, First Tee - Colorado Rocky Mountains reached over 12,000 young people in 10 counties, delivering curriculum-based programs that emphasize the organization's nine core values: honesty, integrity, sportsmanship, respect, confidence, responsibility, perseverance, courtesy, and judgment. These values are taught through engaging golf instruction and life skills lessons, equipping participants with tools to succeed on and off the course.

"Even before my time, we were serving about 200 kids on one golf course," said Paula Purifoy, CEO of First Tee - Colorado Rocky Mountains. "We've now expanded to 12,000 kids annually at 26 golf courses and more than 100 schools. What's really important—and what the secret is—is that about 8,500, or two-thirds of the kids we serve, are free and reduced-fee participants. Free to the schools and free to the families."
Scott O'Sullivan has supported First Tee for more than a decade, including service on its board and providing an annual $10,000 college scholarships to outstanding participants.

DENVER (AP) — Thairo Estrada hit a two-run homer in the first inning and drove in four runs to help the Colorado Rockies beat the Houston Astros 7-6 on Thursday. Colorado improved to 9-34 at home, still the worst home start in the modern era. The Rockies have lost all 14 series at Coors Field. Juan Mejia (1-0) got the win in relief of Kyle Freeland, who threw six solid innings, and Seth Halvorsen picked up his seventh save. Halvorsen gave up a leadoff triple to Jake Meyers and a pair of two-out singles before getting Victor Caratini on a flyout to right to end it. Houston scored twice in the first inning, and Estrada tied with his homer it in the bottom of the inning. Isaac Paredes had an RBI double for Houston in the second, and Estrada tied it in the third with an RBU groundout. Ryan Ritter's two-run single in the fourth gave Colorado the lead. Brandon Walter gave up five runs over five innings of work for Houston. DENVER — Should Taylor Makar someday make the roster, big brother Cale needs to consider altering the back of his Colorado Avalanche sweater. Article content That's the running joke of Taylor, anyway — a 'C. Makar' modification from simply 'Makar' to make room for 'T. Makar.' Article content Article content One Makar on the blue line and another at forward is something they've thought about since they were growing up in Calgary. Because of their age difference – Cale is more than 2 years older – the tandem has never really been on the same elite team. He's coming off a season in which he had 30 goals as he became the first NHL defenceman to reach that mark since Mike Green scored 31 for Washington in 2008-09. Article content No surprise, Cale was awarded the Norris Trophy as the league's top defenseman (he also won the award in 2022, the season Colorado captured the Stanley Cup). Article content Now this was a surprise – the secret celebration his younger brother helped spring to commemorate the achievement. Taylor played a role in organizing a golf outing for the unsuspecting Cale as family and friends gathered in the backyard for the trophy presentation. Article content When the group stopped by during their round, everyone was waiting. Article content 'It turned out well, and he was pretty excited,' explained Taylor, a seventh-round pick by Colorado in 2021. 'It was a cool, special moment for all the people that are really close to him and our family to share together.' Of course, there were extenuating circumstances – Avalanche captain Gabriel Landeskog was with the Eagles on a conditioning assignment in his recovery from a serious knee injury.
