York City's 2024/25 season captured in pictures
IT has been a season to remember for York City - breaking records, reaching 96 points and giving a sense of belief back into the football club.
From FC Halifax Town away to Barnet at home, there has been plenty of memorable games for supporters, with Adam Hinshelwood's side having a campaign that will be remembered by fans for years to come.

A striker who has scored over 30 goals in Ollie Pearce, a goalkeeper in Harrison Male to keep more clean sheets than any other goalkeeper in the division, and players such as Joe Felix and Callum Howe, who have played major roles in York's rise up the division.
There has been a lot to celebrate, and with pre-season starting for the players next Monday, the 2024/25 season is now in the past as eyes start turning towards the future.

Manchester City's Vitor Reis set to join CFG-owned Girona on loan deal
Manchester City defender Vitor Reis is set to join Girona on a loan deal. The arrangement between the sister clubs in the City Football Group (CFG) will see the centre-back join Michel's side for 2025-26. Girona have previously had loan agreements for former City full-back Yan Couto and current City winger Savinho, who was on loan at the Catalan club from CFG-owned Troyes, who went on to become senior internationals with Brazil. The defender made four appearances for Pep Guardiola's side since his arrival, none of which coming in the Premier League. Manchester City have facilitated multiple loan deals to Girona in recent years, with City Football Group (CFG) owning a 30 per cent stake in the La Liga club. CFG had previously owned a 47 per cent stake, but it sold 17 per cent to an independent blind trust in order to comply with UEFA's multi-club ownership rules, allowing both teams to compete in the Champions League. Reis made 22 appearances for Palmeiras after coming through the youth system of the Brazilian side. He signed his first professional contract towards the end of the 2022 season and soon established himself as a regular starter in central defence for Abel Ferreira's side. He was one of a number of young Palmeiras players to earn moves to Europe. Reis came through Palmeiras' youth system as the same time as Endrick and Luis Guilherme, who moved on to Real Madrid and West Ham United respectively in 2024. He is a tough-tackling midfielder who can scan the danger well to earn the ball back for his team inside his half. The Argentine talent doesn't mind clearing the danger when needed and is an excellent passer of the ball. He can even chip in by scoring and creating a handful of important goals from midfield. Mac Allister is primarily a holding midfielder but can also function as a box-to-box midfielder or play in the number ten position if required. However, he might need some time to adjust to life in La Liga. The Argentine sensation would no doubt enhance the quality of Real Madrid head coach Xabi Alonso's midfield department. He has what it takes to nail down a regular first-team spot at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium next season. At 26, Mac Allister is about to enter his prime, which makes him a worthy target for the Madrid giants to consider this summer. He might even help Los Blancos compete for a lot of major honours over the next few years. Thus, it makes sense for Alonso to go all out to get him on board this summer or at the end of next season.

Aussie women launch England's Hundred in brutal fashion
The fifth season of England's Hundred competition has been launched with a blizzard of sixes, mostly hit by Australians Grace Harris and Meg Lanning. Harris hit a competition record-equalling six sixes in her 42-ball 89 not out, but was nearly upstaged by her former Australian captain Lanning, who hit five of them before being dismissed for 85 off 51 balls. Her departure sealed London Spirit's victory over capital rivals Oval Invincibles by 17 runs. The match was the first half of a double-header at Lords to kick-off the controversial competition, in which both sides receive 100 balls bowled in 'sets' of five, with the men, including Spirit's David Warner, following.
