Pharma distributor arrested in Hyderabad for selling counterfeit anti-epileptic drugs

Telangana Drugs Control Administration (DCA) on Tuesday arrested Manish Kumar, partner-cum-competent person of Arvind Pharma Distributors in Gandhinagar, Hyderabad, for dealing in counterfeit anti-epileptic drugs. The arrest follows the seizure of counterfeit 'Levipil 500' tablets, falsely labelled as being manufactured by Sun Pharma Laboratories Limited.
Following his arrest, Manish Kumar was produced before the X Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (ACJM) Court in Secunderabad. The court remanded him to judicial custody until July 23. He has since been lodged at Chanchalguda Jail, said a release.
The seizure was made during a raid conducted on July 4 on the premises of Arvind Pharma Distributors, located in the SBI Staff Colony, Gandhinagar. Acting on intelligence inputs, DCA officials discovered counterfeit versions of 'Levipil 500', an anti-epileptic drug used in the treatment of seizures. A comparative analysis with a genuine batch confirmed the tablets were counterfeit, as verified by Sun Pharma Laboratories.

Jind: In a shocking incident, a science teacher at a reputed private school, which is owned by a prominent political leader of the state, has been arrested for allegedly abducting and raping a 17-year-old girl in Jind district. The accused was arrested by the city police 12 days after the incident. Reportedly, the incident took place on July 10, coinciding with Guru Purnima, when the 17-year-old Class 12 student was allegedly lured away from near her home. Her mother later filed a police complaint, following which the city police registered a kidnapping case and started a probe. Later, the girl was safely recovered, and in her statement before a magistrate, she accused the teacher of rape and unlawful confinement. Based on her statement, police registered a case under relevant sections of the BNS and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
