NSW trainer Luke McCarthy brings an elite team to Albion Park in pursuit of Queensland glory
While defending Inter Dominion champion Don Hugo will be his star act, McCarthy's team of raiders oozes star power with a range of feature race targets.
We won't see Don Hugo until the opening round of Inter Dominion heats on July 5, but McCarthy has five runners tomorrow night, headed by Australia's best mare Eye Keep Smiling, exciting three-year-old Hesitate and Inter Dominion trotting hopeful Constantinople.

Additionally, McCarthy, who spent much of his formative years in Queensland, is also caretaker trainer and driver for Mick Stanley's Queensland Oaks hopeful, Soho Americano, who steps out tomorrow night.
'I love getting back up to Queensland, especially this time of year,' McCarthy said.
'This Carnival has grown and grown and now adding the Inter Dominion has taken it to another level. I've got a really good team of horses at the right time to give it a real crack this year.'
Don Hugo capped his Inter Dominion preparation when he made it two-from-two this campaign and thrashed his rivals at Menangle last Saturday night.
'He's ready now. I want him fresh going into the series, so I'll give him three weeks between runs going into the first round of heats,' McCarthy said.
'I couldn't be happier with my horse and if anyone can beat Leap To Fame, I think it's my guy.'

Eye Keep Smiling is a hot favourite to post her eighth successive win and her 25th win from 36 starts in the Garrards Horse & Hound Mares' Open Pace tomorrow night.
Her main target is a successful title defence in the $150,000 Group 1 Golden Girl at Albion Park on July 19.
McCarthy also has former Group 1-winning mare Coastal Babe aiming for the Golden Girl.
If Hesitate beats older rivals in the eighth race at Albion Park on tomorrow night, it will open the door for a tilt at the $350,000 Group 1 Rising Sun on July 5 as well as the $150,000 Group 1 Queensland Derby on July 19.
'I was chasing my tail with him last campaign, but he's come back really well after a break and I'm sure he'll be a factor in those big races. He's got so much speed,' McCarthy said.
'Mac Bon is another I'll have up here for the Redcliffe and Queensland Derbys.
'Constantinople won the consolation (of the Inter Dominion trotting series) in Brisbane two years ago and is back in form at the right time, while a horse like Beach Ball, who runs this week, will be competitive through the heats (Inter Dominion pacing) as well.'

Fremantle coach Justin Longmuir lined up former Kangaroos star David King and went whack on Thursday, sick of the criticism the media pundit sends his way. Despite winning six of the past seven games, and being only percentage outside the top eight, King said Longmuir was the most 'under pressure' coach following a loss to Sydney. Longmuir wasn't copping it and at his weekly press conference launched into King, confused as to why he and the Dockers were a constant target and questioning whether the premiership winner knew what it took to coach a team. Blues boss Laurie Daley says he should stay on despite defeat in State of Origin decider
Laurie Daley feels he is "most definitely" the right man to coach NSW in 2026 as the playing group insists the coach cannot be blamed for the Blues' State of Origin capitulation. The 2025 Origin series slipped through the Blues' fingers on Wednesday night as a polished Queensland dominated their hosts for a 24-12 win at the Sydney Olympic stadium. It came after the Blues romped home to a game-one win in Brisbane and scored more tries than their opponents in Origin II, only to lose on goal-kicking. The game-three loss was a sour end to Daley's first series back as coach, after optimism had been signalled by the return of the man who famously snapped Queensland's eight-year run of dominance in 2014. But Daley's record as coach across his two stints now stands at one series win from six in charge, with a winning rate of just below 39 per cent. At full-time, Daley laughed off speculation his job could be in the firing line after the collapse, saying he was "most definitely" the right man to continue leading the Blues' new era. "While I was disappointed with the result, I think the players have had a really good campaign, we just didn't nail the moments," he said. "We've got to make sure we're better at that. "I don't see any reason why that group can't [win it next year] … no issues there, mate." The playing group rushed to Daley's defence after the loss. "He wasn't the reason that we lost tonight. It was us as players," said halfback Nathan Cleary. "He committed a lot to this preparation. I thought the preparation was really good." Second-rower Liam Martin said the playing group needed to shoulder the blame. "We let him down," Martin said when asked about Daley. "We are so disappointed as a playing group because the coaching staff, 'Loz', everyone involved, deserved so much more from us. "If there's any criticism, criticise us as the playing group, not 'Loz'. He couldn't have done much more." After his first Origin series, Max King conceded there would be speculation as to positions, including his own in the forward pack. "I think Laurie's been great. That probably adds to the disappointment, Laurie and the staff have done such a great job," he said. "I think that's a big part of it, losing, you feel responsible. That comes with losing, there's going to be a lot of talk, coaches, positions, a lot of players come under fire, myself and whatnot. "That's just what comes with losing." AAP
