"These trees, located along the periphery of the parking area, need to be removed to create a 6-metre space for the movement of emergency vehicles, in accordance with building norms," said an MCD official. It is space-efficient and convenient. The facility, equipped with four lifts, will be fully automatic with no manual intervention. Built on a 2,240 sqm plot, the parking has the ground floor and eight floors above it, offering space to park 399 cars. While the construction began three years ago, MCD sought permission to fell the trees over a year ago. The civic body received anticipatory approval from the fire service and continued the work. "The footfall at the market is heavy most of the time. It is common to see many vehicles parked on the roadsides, leading to inconvenience to others," said a local resident. "To resolve the problem, construction of the parking lot was taken up on a portion of the surface parking site and work began in March 2022 with an 18-month deadline but it was breached in Sept 2023. " Since the project is taking time to finish, the shop owners have requested opening up space for a few cars to park. UP nod for second Greater Noida to Faridabad link across Yamuna

Noida: UP govt has approved a second link road between Greater Noida and Faridabad via Manjhawali bridge over the Yamuna to cut travel time between the two cities to just 30 minutes. With the 56-km Faridabad-Noida-Ghaziabad (FNG) Expressway still under construction—only 50% of the 23km expressway that will pass through Noida is currently ready—commuters currently take nearly two hours to travel through congested Delhi and Noida areas to reach Faridabad. The new link road, a four-lane corridor off Yamuna Expressway and Eastern Peripheral Expressway, is expected to serve as a crucial link for passengers travelling from Haryana, once flight operations begin from the Noida airport. It is also expected to decongest the Kalindi Kunj flyover and Noida Expressway, a crucial link between Haryana, Delhi and Noida. Under the project, UP will construct a 1.7-km stretch from Atta Gujran up to the Haryana border, where the road will connect with an existing road, the Manjhawali bridge and Jasana in Faridabad. A 3km stretch will also be widened under the project. Though the project was proposed in 2014, it has faced several delays. Construction of the 630-metre Manjhawali bridge itself took over four years to start and missed six deadlines before finally opening in Dec 2022. Despite being operational, the bridge remained underutilised due to the absence of a connecting road on the UP side, delayed by funding and land acquisition hurdles. Haryana side of the approach road is ready. Officials said around seven hectares of land need to be acquired for the project. So far, land registry agreements have been signed with half of the 110 affected farmers. The district administration has already received Rs 25 crore to compensate the affected farmers, and additional funds have been proposed to fast-track the acquisition process. Meanwhile, construction of the long-awaited Faridabad-Noida-Ghaziabad (FNG) Expressway remains incomplete. Parts of the expressway that remain to be constructed include a 650m elevated road in Chhijarsi village and a one-lane stretch near Sorkha village that is held up due to a legal dispute over an old structure at the site. Another stretch passing over the Hindon is awaiting clearance from the irrigation department. The expressway is likely to be ready by 2027.
