Siblings arrested in Bidor for illegal firearm and ammunition possession
Tapah district police chief Supt Johari Yahya confirmed the seizure of the firearm along with four live bullets and one shell casing hidden under a mattress. 'Traces of bullet fragments were also found in the living areas, indicating a gunshot,' he said in a statement.
Further investigations revealed both suspects had prior criminal records, including six criminal cases and four narcotics-related offences. One suspect also tested positive for methamphetamine in a urine screening.

Eight held over Bukit Besi cattle theft
DUNGUN: Eight people aged 17 to 73 were arrested for allegedly stealing cattle from Ladang Pinang Mas in Bukit Besi at 2.30am today. Dungun police chief Superintendent Maizura Abdul Kadir said the suspects were caught in the act following a tip-off from the livestock owner, who lodged a report at 2am. She said the arrests were made during a joint operation involving the Criminal Investigation Department, patrol unit and Bukit Besi police station. "Following the report, we acted quickly and raided the area, arresting eight suspects aged between 17 and 73," she said. Police believe the case may be linked to other livestock thefts in the area. Cops seized 18 pieces of cattle meat, a shotgun with live ammunition, knives, meat-cutting tools, seven mobile phones and two vehicles believed to have been used to transport the stolen meat. Checks revealed the shotgun was legally owned by one of the suspects. Investigations are ongoing under the Arms Act 1960, Section 29 of the Animal Welfare Act 2015 and Section 379 of the Penal Code. All suspects have been remanded. Maizura advised the public to install CCTV, ensure proper lighting in pens and conduct routine patrols to prevent theft. Licensed firearm owners were also reminded to store their weapons safely and according to legal procedures.

Three Bangladeshi men killed in highway crash at LPT1 near Kuantan
KUANTAN: Three Bangladeshi men were killed and two others injured after the multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) they were travelling in skidded off the road at KM200.8 of the East Coast Highway (LPT1) near here yesterday. Acting Kuantan police chief Supt Mohd Adli Mat Daud said the crash occurred around 7:30 pm, claiming the lives of driver Md Sabber Hasan, 30, and passengers Md Jahid Hasan, 21, and Abdullah, 24. Initial investigations revealed the Toyota Avanza was heading from Kuantan to Kuala Lumpur when the driver lost control, causing the vehicle to skid left. Two other passengers, Md Habib Bissas, 45, and Maniram Chandra Bas, 40, were injured and taken to Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital (HTAA). Mohd Adli confirmed the driver lacked a valid license, and the vehicle's road tax had expired since May 2025. Four-year-old boy dies after falling from eighth floor in Port Klang
SHAH ALAM, Aug 2 — A four-year-old boy was found dead after he is believed to have fallen from the eighth floor of a flats in Port Klang near here yesterday. Klang Selatan Police deputy chief Supt Kamalariffin Aman Shah said an emergency call was received at about 8 am. He said the incident occurred while the boy's father was at work and the mother had gone out to take their second child to the babysitter. 'Preliminary investigations indicate that the boy fell from the window of his home on the eighth floor. He was rushed to Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital, Klang, but was pronounced dead during treatment,' he said in a statement. Kamalariffin said the case was being investigated under Section 31(1) of the Child Act 2001.
