Multiply Group completes acquisition of Tendam, doubling operational Ebitda
Multiply Group, the Abu Dhabi-based investment holding company that invests in and operates businesses globally, on Wednesday completed its first major investment in Europe with the acquisition of a majority stake in Tendam, Spain's second-largest apparel group by market share . The deal doubles Multiply's operational Ebitda post-consolidation and expands its model to acquire standout businesses, unlock potential through capital and tech, and deliver sustained market leadership. As one of Europe's leading omnichannel apparel groups, Tendam operates more than 1,800 points of sale and runs successful digital loyalty programmes in over 80 markets, including Spain, Portugal, France, the UAE, and Latin America, making it well-positioned in the evolving retail landscape. From affordable fashion to premium styles, the company's diversified portfolio of 12 established brands caters to multiple customer segments through its leading fashion brands such as Women'secret, Springfield, Cortefiel and Pedro del Hierro, among others. Multiply now has a majority interest of 67.91 per cent in Castellano Investments S.À R.L. ('Company') (the owner of Tendam Brands S.A.U. and other subsidiaries), with Llano Holdings S.À R.L. and Arcadian Investments S.À R.L., the corporate investment vehicles for CVC Funds and PAI Partners, remaining as minority shareholders. With this investment, Multiply Group deepens its investments in consumer-focused industries and establishes a presence in the retail and apparel sector, with Tendam becoming a platform business under Multiply's Retail & Apparel vertical. Multiply will lead the next growth phase of Tendam. This growth is predicated on further international expansion across Europe, Latin America, and the Middle East. Embedding AI across all aspects of the business, from sourcing to customer operations, will support this growth journey and will leverage the digital infrastructure the company already has in place. In addition, Multiply will support the business on targeted M&A to introduce new brands and categories. Samia Bouazza, Group CEO and Managing Director of Multiply Group, said: 'This acquisition marks Multiply Group's strategic entry into the retail and apparel sector. By securing a controlling interest in a leading omnichannel platform, we are investing in a future-focused, high-performing business model backed by an outstanding management team. Built on strong, well-established owned brands, the platform offers the agility and vision to expand into new categories and scale emerging brands globally. With our expertise in creating synergies, deploying AI, and driving strategic M&A, we are poised to accelerate growth and unlock long-term value for our shareholders.' From a strategic standpoint, the acquisition offers Multiply Group a significant opportunity to leverage Tendam's strong brand platform and proven performance to drive future growth, supported by favourable consumer tailwinds in the global apparel retail market. Jaume Miquel, Chairman and CEO of Tendam, highlighted: 'Today we are starting a new era. Together, shareholders and management team, will fully deploy the Tendam potential, extending our brands to new formats, markets and channels supported by advanced artificial intelligence and digital technology, delivering stronger growth and profitability through a unique, unrivalled omnichannel brand ecosystem.' Since 2020, driven by its proven management team, Tendam has recorded steady, quarter-on-quarter growth, strengthening its business model in core markets while expanding its international presence. At the end of June 2025, the company reported last twelve months sales of €1.4 billion and Ebitda post-IFRS 16 of €340.7 million. Multiply Group has been advised by Greenhill (a Mizuho affiliate), Hogan Lovells and KPMG on the transaction. Castellano and its current shareholders have been advised by Uria Menendez. Ramón Hermosilla Abogados and Latham & Watkins LLP were legal advisors to Tendam on this transaction.

Nigeria to Showcase Executive Order Reforms, Investment Opportunities at African Energy Week (AEW) 2025
Nigeria is undertaking sweeping reforms across its oil and gas industry, driven by a landmark Executive Order signed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu aimed at catalyzing investment and eliminating regulatory inefficiencies. At the 'Invest in Nigeria' Roundtable during African Energy Week (AEW) 2025: Invest in African Energies – sponsored by NCDMB and taking place in Cape Town on September 29-October 3 – senior policymakers and industry leaders will unpack the scope of these reforms, explore how they are reshaping the investment landscape, and present new opportunities across upstream, midstream and downstream value chains. Set to speak are Olu Verheijen, Special Advisor to the President of Nigeria on Energy; Arthur Ename, Vice President of Business Development, Africa, at NOV; Nosa Omorodion, Country Director at SLB Nigeria; Alex Irune, Executive Director of Oando and Managing Director of Oando Energy Resources; a senior representative from ExxonMobil; and Philip Mshelbila, Managing Director and CEO of Nigeria LNG (NLNG). The roundtable will offer high-level insight into the regulatory reset now underway and what it means for investors looking to expand or enter the Nigerian market. The Executive Order, signed in April 2025, targets cost efficiency and fiscal competitiveness in upstream operations and introduces performance-based tax credits for oil and gas companies that deliver verifiable reductions in project costs. Under the framework, operators that meet annual cost-reduction benchmarks set by the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission are eligible to retain 50% of the incremental government revenue generated by their efficiency gains, with total credits capped at 20% of their annual tax liability. This move directly addresses long-standing concerns over high operating costs in Nigeria's upstream sector, which have historically deterred investment and delayed project execution. By linking tax relief to measurable cost savings, the Order is expected to unlock stalled developments, attract new capital and create a more transparent, performance-driven investment climate. At the AEW 2025 roundtable, speakers will examine how this reform is already reshaping Nigeria's energy landscape – enabling more competitive bidding for contracts, accelerating international oil company divestments and positioning indigenous players to scale up their operations within a more commercially attractive and operationally efficient environment. Nigeria is also doubling down on natural gas as the cornerstone of its long-term energy strategy. With over 200 trillion cubic feet of proven reserves, the country is accelerating infrastructure development to support both domestic utilization and regional exports. A flagship project, the NLNG Train 7 expansion, is nearing completion and set to boost production capacity by 35%, underscoring the critical role of LNG in Nigeria's economic growth and energy transition plans. At the same time, upstream and midstream gas investments are being enabled through policy instruments that promote modular processing, flexible pricing frameworks and improved market access for domestic suppliers. The private sector is poised to play a central role in this next phase. Companies like SLB and NOV are aligning their strategies with the government's push for localization, efficiency and innovation, while firms such as Oando are expanding their portfolios to reflect new realities in the post-Petroleum Industry Act landscape. With enhanced policy stability and a deliberate focus on sector transformation, Nigeria is reasserting its status as one of Africa's most strategic hydrocarbon hubs. Mideast Stocks: Most Gulf stocks rebound on earnings, US-Japan trade deal
Most Gulf stocks rebounded on Wednesday, buoyed by corporate earnings announcements and optimism following U.S. President Donald Trump's trade deal with Japan, which raised hopes for additional agreements before an impending tariff deadline. Trump said on Tuesday that the U.S. and Japan had reached a trade deal that includes a 15% tariff on U.S. imports from Japan. It followed an agreement with the Philippines by which the U.S. will collect a 19% tariff rate on imports from there. While the increasing imposition of tariffs around the world poses risks to global economic growth and oil demand, the recent U.S.-Japan deal helped ease investor concerns and supported oil prices. Saudi Arabia's benchmark index advanced 1.3%, led by a 1.1% gain in Al Rajhi Bank and a 2.3% increase in Saudi National Bank, the country's largest lender by assets. Earlier this week, the duo reported a rise in quarterly earnings. The Saudi stock market may experience a solid rebound if earnings releases continue to be positive and external pressures diminish, said Milad Azar, market analyst at XTB MENA. "A potential trade deal with the European Union, with the August 1 deadline approaching, could also provide a boost." The Abu Dhabi index jumped 1.2%, with First Abu Dhabi Bank (FAB), the United Arab Emirates' largest lender, surging 5% - its biggest intraday gain in a month - after beating second-quarter profit estimates on strong revenue growth. Elsewhere, Bank of Sharjah soared 10%, a day after posting a sharp rise in half-yearly profit. Among other gainers, Space42 advanced 1% after securing a $695.5 million facility to fund next-generation UAE satellites. Dubai's main share index finished 1% higher, snapping a three-day losing streak, led by a 2.9% jump in top lender Emirates NBD (ENBD), as the bank is slated to report its quarterly earnings on Thursday. Qatar stock index edged 0.4% higher, touching a fresh two-and-a-half-year high, with most sectors closing in the green. Outside the Gulf, Egypt's blue-chip index rose 1%, continuing its ascent to record highs, with Commercial International Bank rising 1.5% following an increase in quarterly profit. SAUDI ARABIA jumped 1.3% to 10,984 ABU DHABI rose 1.2% to 10,296 DUBAI climbed 1% to 6,086 QATAR gained 0.4% to 11,186 EGYPT added 1% to 34,125 BAHRAIN increased 0.3% to 1,950 OMAN eased 0.3% to 4,765 KUWAIT inched up 0.2% to 9,296 (Reporting by Amna Mariyam and Ateeq Shariff in Bengaluru; Editing by Tasim Zahid)
