How hundreds work around-the-clock to get Dubai Fountain running by October

Dubai's iconic fountain — the largest in the world — has been temporarily out of action for several months due to ongoing maintenance. But what really goes on behind the scenes of this colossal water and light spectacle? From hundreds working around the clock to high-tech upgrades hidden beneath the surface, one influencer took a rare behind-the-scenes tour, uncovering the process that keeps the Dubai Fountain running at its best. Stay up to date with the latest news. Follow KT on WhatsApp Channels. Sparkling waters? The Dubai Fountain always sparkles — no matter where you look at it from — do you know why? That's thanks to the impeccable flooring under the water. The concrete flooring underwater — as large as almost 18 football fields — is being treated with layers of primer and waterproofing, to ensure it is easier to maintain. Earlier, the floor would occasionally crack. Another reason the stunning display consistently shines is because of several methods the team uses to ensure that the water stays clean. A team works behind the scenes, regularly testing the water from different areas of the lake. Hard at work, though, are underwater robots, that keep the floor and the 1.3-metre deep water squeaky clean. 'Takes weeks' Each performance of the world's largest dancing fountain takes weeks to create. The influencer explains that in his conversation with the engineer he found that robots are used extensively to programme it. These robots control the lighting and water that are placed beside the sprinklers — creating a beautiful 'dance'. Watch the video below: The revamping of the iconic tourist attraction comes with a strict deadline, with Dubai Mall confirming that the fountain is aiming to be fully operational by October 2025. Nestled in the heart of Downtown Dubai, just steps from the iconic Burj Khalifa and the Dubai Mall, the Dubai Fountain stands as a dazzling showcase of the city's innovation and grandeur. Renowned for its mesmerizing shows that blend water, music, and light in perfect harmony, the fountain attracts millions of visitors from across the globe each year.

Nasdaq-listed DeFi Technologies expands into Mena with UAE office

DeFi Technologies Inc, a financial technology company bridging the gap between traditional capital markets and decentralized finance ('DeFi'), has announced its expansion in the GCC and MENA region with the registration of DEFI DMCC (certification no DMCC199558) with offices in Jumeirah Lake Towers Dubai UAE. DeFi Technologies through its subsidiary Valour, and Valour Digital Securities Limited (and, together with Valour Inc.) a leading issuer of exchange-traded products ('ETPs') has also opened a trading desk at DMCC (Dubai Multi Commodities Center) in UAE. The DeFi Technologies team and its subsidiary Valour aim to support the increased institutional interest in digital assets in the GCC region and specifically in the UAE. This expansion into the Middle East is a key element of the strategy to increase product offerings and global footprint. As the first Nasdaq-listed digital asset manager of its kind, DeFi Technologies offers equity investors diversified exposure to the broader decentralized economy through its integrated and scalable business model. This includes Valour, which offers access to more than 65 of the world's most innovative digital assets via regulated ETPs with plans to offer 100 by the end of 2025. With regulatory momentum, product velocity, and institutional credibility converging, DEFT is positioning itself as the BlackRock of Web3. Globally, institutional capital is pouring into spot Bitcoin and Ethereum exchange-traded funds (ETFs), and in the Middle East and in the UAE in specific this is also becoming a trend. Recently, UAE sovereign wealth fund Mubadala announced it expanded its position in BlackRock's bitcoin ETF showcasing the latest example of institutions increasingly turning to non-traditional exposures wrapped in an ETF. Bitcoin ETPs are facilitating greater exposure for investors who had been interested in crypto but want a familiar and efficient wrapper. Currently, total assets under management ('AUM') in crypto ETPs have reached $176.3 billion. Andrew Forson, President of DeFi Technologies and Chief Growth Officer of Valour, stated, ' We believe the demand for digital asset ETPs will increase not only globally but in the GCC and Middle East. Investors whether sovereign wealth funds, institutional investors, family offices and even retail investors are interested in crypto but require familiar and efficient vehicles to get exposure.' He adds, 'Wrapping digital assets like Bitcoin and Ethereum in regulated financial instruments such as ETPs will increase the number of crypto investors and offer countries such as the UAE, Qatar, Oman, and Saudi Arabia access to international foreign investment. Local and international get exposure to these assets through trusted providers like the Abu Dhabi Stock Exchange, Dubai Financial Markets, and others.' Already DeFi Technologies has expanded into Turkey through a collaboration with Misyon Bank, and Misyon Kripto to work to introduce ETPs. In Turkey currently over 50% of investor population are holding digital assets. In 2024, DeFi Technologies through its subsidiary Valour partnered with GulfCap Investment Bank ('GCIB'), a licensed investment bank as its key Transaction Advisor for the proposed cross-listing of Valour's ETPs on the Nairobi Securities Exchange ('NSE') in Kenya. The proposed cross-listing will allow Valour's ETPs to be traded in Kenyan Shillings on the NSE and provide investors in East Africa with exposure to leading digital assets through regulated investment vehicles. In Europe DeFi Technologies subsidiary Valour currently offers 65+ fully hedged digital asset ETPs on leading European exchanges including Xetra, Spotlight, and Euronext.

Where play meets purpose: An immersive model for business impact

Elvin Eldić developed Leaguestar as a direct response to the performance engagement challenges he faced while working across complex, multinational organizations. An entrepreneur and seasoned business leader with over 30 years in retail, he is also the Managing Director of The Gamifier Group, a UAE based performance consultancy and gamification tech firm. Time and again, he encountered the same pattern: traditional reporting systems that were static, retrospective, and disengaging, tools that measured outcomes but failed to inspire the people responsible for delivering them. Metrics sat in dashboards, conversations were delayed, and frontline teams struggled to see how their efforts translated into business impact. Determined to find a better way, Elvin set out to design a system that would reimagine how performance is experienced, measured, and celebrated in the workplace. Drawing on his background in sports science, enterprise operations, and behavioral performance, he created Leaguestar, a gamified performance platform built to energize teams, elevate accountability, and drive real-time results. From day one, Leaguestar was built with a people-first lens. Rather than simply deploying software, the approach centers around immersive collaboration. Every implementation is designed in partnership with the organization, aligning with cultural values, strategic goals, and operational realities. This includes in-depth discovery, co-design sessions with leadership, and narrative development that frames performance through a unifying, team-based lens. The rollout is supported by creative communications, tailored game mechanics, and leadership enablement, ensuring the system becomes part of the rhythm of the business, not an add-on. At its core, Leaguestar gamifies performance, turning static KPIs into live, league-style challenges that spark healthy competition, real-time feedback, and daily motivation. Managers get instant, intuitive data to coach with impact. Employees see their progress come to life, earn recognition, and stay engaged through a game they want to win. What started as a solution to disengagement has grown into a proven platform used across industries and regions, transforming performance from a passive report into an active, shared experience that's felt, played, and owned by everyone involved.
