EXCLUSIVE: NHS Fife nurse Sandie Peggie mocked victims of Pakistan floods in series of racist posts
The messages – shared in a Facebook group chat with colleagues titled 'Benidorm' – emerged in an evidence bundle seen by The Courier at the tribunal in Dundee.
Ms Peggie is suing NHS Fife and A&E medic Dr Beth Upton for discrimination, saying she was forced to share female facilities with the transgender doctor who was born male.
Central to the tribunal is the pair's changing room row on Christmas Eve 2023 and the nurse's subsequent suspension.
Between June and October 2022, monsoon floods devastated Pakistan, submerging one third of the South Asian nation, leaving millions homeless and injuring nearly 13,000.
The official death toll was 1,739.
On August 31 that year, Ms Peggie shared the following offensive messages in a group chat:
1 – Rumour has it that the floods in Pakistan were started by a suicide plumber.
2 – There's a new curry been brought out in aid of the Pakistani flood disaster victims. It's a chicken bury auntie, served with a nan dead and poppa gone.
3 – The BNP have donated 6,000 crocodiles to the Pakistani flood appeal.
4 – The Queen has sent a letter of condolence to the Pakistani president. She wanted to mention that Britain has plenty of spare p*kis if they want some back.
5 – I bet little Mohammed isn't having to walk 3 miles fetch water now! I think I'll ask for my 1 a month donation back.
6 – What do you call a Pakistani flood survivor…Mustaf a dinghy.
7 – What goes around comes around. Pakistanis have been flooding Britain for years.
8 – From space Pakistan looks like a giant bowl of coco pops.
9 – There is a new diet sweeping Pakistan. It's called swim fast.
10 – Charity single just released for the Pakistani flood disaster…Rain keeps falling on Ahmed.
Ms Peggie has faced multiple claims of racism – which she strongly disputes – during the tribunal.
At Monday's hearing, emergency nurse practitioner Lindsey Nicoll was asked about the 'jokes' shared by her colleague Ms Peggie.
Asked what she thought about them, Ms Nicoll said she viewed them as 'racist'.
Naomi Cunningham, Ms Peggie's barrister, said the Kirkcaldy nurse's jokes about Pakistan were 'thoroughly unpleasant'.
She also told the tribunal Ms Peggie regularly used racist slurs such as 'p*ki' and 'ch**ky*'.
The Benidorm group chat has been active since 2016 and has more than 2,600 pages worth of chat.
Ms Peggie's lawyer, Naomi Cunningham, asked whether it is fair to judge Ms Peggie's character from a single message in seven year chat.
Ms Nicoll said this was not the only message with racist content.
Ms Nicoll also made reference to an incident at an airport when Ms Peggie spoke about a group of women wearing burqas.
Ms Peggie is said to have asked how they got through security, and questioned 'what they were doing here'.
Last week, clinical services manager Charlotte Myles said that when she told Dr Upton's boss Dr Kate Searle that Ms Peggie's suspension was to be lifted, the A&E consultant claimed the nurse had called another doctor a 'p*ki'.
Ms Myles said Dr Searle confirmed to her this had not been reported at the time and no details recorded.
Ms Peggie's legal team suggested the claims were only brought up in part to justify her suspension.
Two days earlier, the nurse's boss Louise Curran claimed she had heard allegations the Kirkcaldy mum had made a racist remark to a junior doctor.
Ms Curran, when asked about ethnic minority groups, alleged there were rumours Ms Peggie had an 'intolerance to the types of food they would cook and smells related to that.'
The senior charge nurse, one of her two line managers, also said she understood Ms Peggie held strong religious views 'to do with football, and Catholics, and Protestants'.
But Ms Curran confessed she had heard all of this via 'hearsay' and 'second, third, or fourth-hand accounts'.
In February, Ms Peggie's husband Darren was quizzed over 'racist' messages he shared on Facebook when giving evidence to the tribunal.
He had previously forwarded on posts by others saying it is 'okay to be white' and calling for 'no more mosques' to be built.
The tribunal also heard Mr Peggie, called to the tribunal by his wife, shared a post which said that white people had disappeared from TV adverts because he thought it was 'funny'.
We revealed earlier that two colleagues of the nurse turned on her after she allegedly requested pictures of Dr Upton and branded the trans doctor a 'weirdo'.

Zoo asks people to donate their pets for food for its predators
A zoo in Denmark has shocked its Facebook followers by asking for any donations of small, healthy pets for their apex predators. The zoo says the initiative is to help 'mimic the natural food chain' A zoo in Denmark is asking for owners of small, healthy pets to donate their furry friends as food for its predators - and people are in favour of the idea. The Aalborg zoo said it is trying to" mimic the natural food chain" of the animals housed there "for the sake of both animal welfare and professional integrity" and offers assurances the pets will be"gently euthanized" by trained staff. The visitor attraction in northern Denmark explained in a Facebook post: "If you have a healthy animal that needs to be given away for various reasons, feel free to donate it to us." It comes after a group of children 'chased a sheep off a cliff' before turning on shocked passers-by. The zoo points to guinea pigs, rabbits and chickens as possible donations. After being euthanized, the animals will be used as fodder, the zoo said. "That way, nothing goes to waste - and we ensure natural behaviour, nutrition and well-being of our predators," the zoo said. Commenters were appalled by the call out. One man commented: "There is a deeply perverse and degrading mindset behind this sick mindset in, a terrible trend of indifference towards animals has spread in Denmark and this posts supports this backwards ideology. Imagine giving away your pet/animal as fodder, it hardly gets more disrespectful and nasty than that." However others seemed to agree with the waste-not want-not approach. One Facebook user said: "Good initiative rather than being thrown in the trash when they are not cute anymore, or the neighbour is tired of your hens suddenly getting roosters that are noisy and illegal within the city limits." Another added: "Wooow you guys are brave. It probably won't take many minutes for angry comments, but I think it's a good idea. I would love for my animal to come in handy. Unfortunately it hates transportation, so I won't offer it on my last trip. Can you use animals that HAVE been euthanized at a vet?" The online call for pet donations is accompanied by a picture of a wildcat baring its teeth with its mouth wide open and a link to the zoo's website, noting the facility also is interested in receiving horses. The zoo, which could not immediately be reached for additional details, does not list other pets or animals as possible donations. The full post read: "Chickens, rabbits and guinea pigs make up an important part of the diet of our predators - especially in the European locust, which needs whole prey, which is reminiscent of what it would naturally hunt in the wild. "In zoos we have a responsibility to imitate the natural food chain of the animals - in terms of both animal welfare and professional integrity . "If you have a healthy animal that has to leave here for various reasons, feel free to donate it to us. The animals are gently euthanized by trained staff and are afterwards used as fodder. That way, nothing goes to waste - and we ensure natural behavior, nutrition and well-being of our predators."

Giant rat size of a small cat discovered in UK home
The potentially record-breaking rat in UK terms - said to measure approximately 22 inches long from nose to tail - was discovered recently in a property in Normanby, Teesside by a pest controller that had been called to investigate. The Local Democracy Reporting Service (LDRS) has been told the dead mammal, a photograph of which has been shared on social media, had been nesting in the home. It has been likened to a 'sewer rat' and, while it is unknown how it accessed the property, rats had been reported in the area in back alleys nearby. In a Facebook post, Eston ward councillors David Taylor and Stephen Martin called on Redcar and Cleveland Council to get a grip of the problem, working with other agencies. They said they wanted to see a 'full vermin survey and treatment plan' implemented in council-owned areas across the borough and joint action also involving businesses, landlords and social housing providers. How to get rid of these common garden pests Cllr Taylor also described public bins in parts of Eston and Whale Hill 'overflowing', with shops, particularly takeaways, dumping items in them and providing 'easy food' for rodents. Overgrown vegetation on public land, providing hiding spaces for rats, was another aspect highlighted. He said the council had to take the problem seriously with sightings increasing. Rats can spread disease to humans and are also known to breed quickly. Cllr Taylor said: 'The longer this is ignored, the worse it will get. It is a growing problem.' He said the rat caught was 'massive', and likened to a small cat or dog, and he had been told by people working in pest control a typical sewer rat could get that big. Native wild animals in the UK As with many other local authorities, Redcar and Cleveland Council no longer offers a pest control solution to private householders, although it retains a full-time officer to tackle issues on council land. Meanwhile, not all social housing providers automatically offer such a service, or if they do it is only on a discretionary basis. Cllr Taylor praised the council's 'workforce on the ground doing an absolutely amazing job', but said more direction was needed from the top of the organisation on the matter. He said he accepted the extensive action being called for would 'cost a fortune', but the problem arising was also a health risk.

"It was really in distress. That's when it would go under boats, it was a crazy experience," she told 6abs. After flailing around in the ocean, the animal found itself under the boat's hull. Terrifying footage shows the boat bobbing on the sea as the whale's fin jerks out just a few metres away. She was quickly pulled to safety and did not sustain any injuries. Meanwhile, the whale reportedly died. This isn't the first time a whale was caught capsizing a boat. Last year, A video taken by a pair of brothers on a nearby ship captured the terrifying ordeal, showing the exact moment a whale submerged a fishing boat near the New Hampshire coast. Brothers Colin and Wyatt Yager, both Maine natives, said they were fishing about a half-mile off the coast of Rye, New Hampshire – about 10 miles southwest of Portsmouth Harbor – when the whale first appeared. Incredible moment two giant whales 'protect' diver from bloodthirsty shark Portsmouth Harbor is located about 50 miles northeast of Boston, Massachusetts. Colin quickly took out his phone to film the whale, eager to get the sighting on camera. "I had my fishing rod right here, phone in my hand, and just saw it go up, and was just lucky enough to be facing the right direction," Colin said, as reported by ABC affiliate WMUR. Colin's brother Wyat was shocked at what happened next. "I saw it come up, and I was just like, 'Oh no, it's going to hit the boat!' and then it started to flip," Wyatt Yager said. They watched as the whale emerged from the water, crashing on top of a nearby fishing boat. The brothers jumped into action to help rescue two individuals on board, who had fallen into the water as their boat capsized. At least one of the two fishermen was wearing a lifejacket, according to reports. "When I turned, the whale's head was already landing on the engine," said fisherman Greg Paquette. "So when I saw that, then all of a sudden, I look down, the boat is pitching up, the transom is going down into the water." The other fisherman on board, Ryland Kenney, called the experience "surreal." "Everything seemed like in slow motion. It was really weird," he said. "Everyone was like, 'Oh, it was eight seconds. How'd you move so fast?' But it was almost slow motion, like a movie." 5 The incident went down Sunday off in Barnegat Bay in New Jersey Credit: Facebook/Kim Mancini
