Sky News AU2 days ago
Queensland Police are appealing to the public to assist with a major investigation into the alleged murder of Queensland millionaire and Universal Store co-founder Greg Josephson.
Mr Josephson died at his home in the affluent north-east Brisbane suburb of Clayfield on June 26, and a 15-year-old boy known to the 58-year-old has been charged with murder.
The death occurred amid a party at the residence attended by a large group of teenagers. Mr Josephson died from critical injuries after being discovered on the top floor of the address about 8.15pm.
The teenager allegedly involved was located in the nearby area on Barlow Street after dialling triple-0, before being arrested and charged.
It was alleged Mr Josephson died following an altercation between him and the 15-year-old.
The alleged offender's matter was called at Brisbane Children's Court on June 27 and was adjourned until September 2, according to The Courier Mail.
The accused teenager was reportedly remanded in custody.
Detective Acting Superintendent Craig Williams last week confirmed police found a weapon allegedly used in the incident.
Queensland Police announced on Wednesday that detectives are now appealing for more information as the homicide investigation continues under Operation Xray Matte.
Anyone who has dashcam footage of the Alexandra Road, Oriel Road and Barlow Street areas between the hours of 7pm-8.30pm on June 26 are being urged to come forward.
Teenage partygoers were taken to a police station that night to be questioned, and neighbours of the Clayfield property had told News.com.au that attendees had frantically tried to the leave the address.
'They were just like 'we want to go home, and we're not allowed to leave'," one neighbour said.
Police had described the scene of the incident as 'chaotic' and 'confronting' when they arrived.
Mr Josephson co-founded popular clothing company Universal Store in 1999, and the business was sold in 2019 in a deal reportedly worth over $100 million.
His Clayfield mansion, which had been purchased in 2016 for $1.91 million, had been listed for sale earlier in June.
Following Mr Johnson's alleged murder, police appealed for information that could assist their investigation, including CCTV footage from the area.
Information that may be able to assist police can be provided anonymously via Crime Stoppers by calling 1800 333 000 or by making an online report at www.crimestoppersqld.com.au.

Kieren Daniel Mittelheuser: Life of ‘The Crabman' charged over Pheobe Bishop murder revealed

The third person charged over the alleged murder of Pheobe Bishop has been revealed as a father with a passion for fishing, fast cars and heavy metal. Social media accounts of Kieren Daniel Mittelheuser, also known as 'The Crabman', paint a picture of a man with simple tastes. But he is now facing serious charges over the 17-year-old's death. On Tuesday, police arrested him outside a fast food drive-thru in Bundaberg West. Mr Mittelheuser was later charged with two counts of accessory after the fact to murder and is also facing other charges of driving while disqualified, fraud and drug possession. Police said it will be alleged he used Pheobe's mobile phone to interfere with their investigation. Mr Mittelheuser's lawyer told court the fraud charge and the accessory after the fact charges were related, during a first hearing for the case, The Courier Mail reports. Mr Zeller M, solicitor with Indigo Law, said the fraud charge involved the alleged use of a credit or debit card that is also relevant to the accessory allegations. Mr Mittelheuser's arrest came after that of Pheobe's housemates James Wood, 34, and Tanika Bromley, 33, who were charged with her murder and interfering with a corpse on June 5. The teenager had been living with them in a garbage-strewn property in the small town of Gin Gin, near Bundaberg before she vanished on May 15. Pheobe failed to board a flight to WA to visit her boyfriend and was reported missing, sparking a major search. Her remains were found just over three weeks later in the Good Night Scrub National Park on June 6. Mr Mittelheuser, who was born in March 1995 and attended Bundaberg State High School, is a father but reportedly does not live with his child and is estranged from the mother. Over recent years, Mr Mittelheuser has set up numerous social media accounts showing off his love of fishing, cars and heavy metal bands including Slipknot and The Amity Affliction. The day Mr Wood and Ms Bromley were charged with Pheobe's murder, Mr Mittelheuser posted to Instagram, 'I don't even care about my foot hanging off my bed anymore, come get me demons. Bring me home', a popular reference that is part of a TikTok trend. On one of his Facebook pages, Mr Mittelheuser refers to being 'rinsed' by Trent McRae — a man who is one of two charged over the death of Bundaberg father Matty Nilsen, 34, who was riding his bike when he was hit and killed during an alleged hooning incident on April 29.

Multiple teens charged after alleged wild brawl at Gold Coast shopping centre, man in 60s assaulted

Multiple children – all no older than 13 – have been arrested and charged over the alleged assault of a man and police officer during a brawl at a shopping centre. Police swarmed the Helensvale Westfield shopping centre on the Gold Coast on Thursday afternoon in response to the alleged brawl. Footage obtained by 7 News Queensland shows the youths being marched handcuffed through the centre, escorted by police who tower over them In a statement, Queensland Police said a 13-year-old girl from Pimpama has been charged with assault, assaulting a police officer and affray. A 12-year-old Upper Coomera boy has been charged with affray. Both will front Southport Childrens Court on July 9. Police allege the six children were asked to leave a shop 'due to their behaviour', just before 2.40pm. 'A 56-year-old man followed the group after observing their actions,' a Queensland Police spokesman said. 'After exiting the store, one girl from the group allegedly physically assaulted the man, resulting in security officers becoming involved.' The man was later taken to hospital with facial injuries. 'Police arrived a short time later and it will be alleged the same girl struck a police officer to the back of the head during attempts to restrain her.' The police officer received minor injuries and did not need to be taken to hospital. Police also charged four girls, aged between 11 and 13, with affray. One of those girls, aged 11, was also charged with assault. These offences were dealt with under youth justice laws, which provides alternatives to court, including cautions and diversion programs. 'Detectives from the Gold Coast Child Protection and Investigation Unit are reviewing CCTV footage to identify any further offences,' a Queensland Police spokesman said. 'Police urge anyone who witnessed the incident and has not yet spoken with investigators to come forward. 'Investigations are ongoing.'
