Olly Murs booed by his own fans as he makes awkward admission

Yahoo18-05-2025
Olly Murs faced boos at a packed show as he made an uncomfortable admission. And you don't need to know much about sport to know he was asking for it.
When Murs decided to admit his true feelings about a subject close to his heart in front of a Liverpool crowd, the reaction was unsurprising. The Liverpool Echo reports that he had the crowd 'wrapped up around his finger' as he brought his 15 Years Of Hits tour to the city's M&S Bank Arena on Thursday.
Thousands of fans packed into the venue for the show, part of his latest nationwide tour. Ryan Paton, who was there in the crowd for the Echo, said the X Factor singer "made sure the show felt unique to those there on the night, with enjoyable interactions with the crowd in between his back catalogue of songs."

Pop fans will know that Olly is a cheeky chap. He also likes to have a laugh with the audience - which is how the moment in question came about.
Olly gave his long-serving band member the chance to "embarrass" him on stage and share a photo from the singer's career. Olly told the crowd: "On this part of the show, I have absolutely no idea what is about to appear on that screen."
The photo that was chosen was one of him touching the This Is Anfield sign at the home of Liverpool FC. That left Olly laughing - and he could probably guess where things were going.
As the picture came up on a large screen, it split the crowd. There were loud cheers from Liverpool supporters - but boos from the Everton fans in the crowd.
But this wasn't the problem. Olly then said: "Of course, this will probably get the biggest boo of the night. I am a Manchester United fan."
The singer creased up as he was jeered by the crowd. He joked: "Shall I go?"
It was all good-natured - and Olly makes no secret of his support for MUFC. The show continued as fans lapped up the pop hits.
He also told them it had been a big week as he turned 41 on Wednesday. He marked it by performing a medley of 80s hits from the decade in which he was born.
The Echo reports that there was a moving moment when Olly sung Dear Darling, a song he dedicated to his X Factor co-host, Caroline Flack, who died in 2020. He told fans: "I genuinely think about her every day.
"I know that feeling of losing someone that you love very much. With this song, I want you to think of those people and sing with me." Fans shone the lights on their phone and sung along in what Ryan at the Echo said was "the standout moment of the evening".

Bruce Springsteen joins Zach Bryan for surprise 'Atlantic City' performance: Watch

Even Bruce Springsteen isn't too big for a cameo. The Boss joined musicians Zach Bryan and Caleb Followill of the Kings of Leon for a rendition of his 1982 classic "Atlantic City" at Bryan's July 20 MetLife Stadium show in New Jersey. The Kings of Leon and Jersey-based Rock band Front Bottoms were the openers for the concert, while Springsteen, 75, was a surprise guest, joining later for a quick-lick guitar solo on Bryan's track "Revival" during the encore. "Proud to call him my hero, one of the greatest songwriters to ever live," Bryan said before introducing the legendary rocker. "If you guys will have him, this is Bruce Springsteen!" Why Bruce Springsteen changed his set list to end concerts with this song The pair then moved on to play "Atlantic City," a harmonica-heavy ballad off Springsteen's 1982 album "Nebraska." Followill, Bryan and Springsteen stood at side-by-side mics, passing the lyrics back and forth, before embracing at the end of the track as the crowd coo-ed "Bruuuucee!" Bryan, 29, has followed in Springsteen's singer-songwriter footsteps, often folding angst into his scratchy, smoker's vocals and genre-bending music, which features a cocktail of folk, country and soul. Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band still rock, quake and shake after 50 years Springsteen joined Bryan on stage last year in Brooklyn and Philadelphia, lending old-school rocker legitimacy to an emerging act. The two also collaborated on the track "Sandpaper" off Bryan's 2024 album, "The Great American Bar Scene." The July 20 show was the third for Bryan this weekend at MetLife, the first time a country artist played three nights in a single stand at the venue. Springsteen is fresh off the release of a previously unheard cache of tracks from years passed. On "Tracks II: The Lost Albums," the Boss treats fans to the musical roads not taken, with mystic, ranchera, and rock music blending on a masterful mix of some 83 songs. Take a look at the powerful image … His Son Stole the Show Scottie Scheffler secured a commanding four-stroke victory at the 2025 Open Championship at Royal Portrush, finishing at 17-under (267) to claim his fourth major title and the third leg of the career Grand Slam. As the world's top-ranked golfer for over 130 weeks, Scheffler has won four majors—the 2022 and 2024 Masters, the 2025 PGA Championship, and the 2025 Open Championship—solidifying his dominance in professional golf. Despite all that, his son Bennett stole the show during the post-match celebration. Following his major win, Scheffler celebrated with his wife, Meredith, and their 14-month-old son, Bennett, who charmed fans with an adorable attempt to join his father on the 18th green. Bennett stumbled while trying to climb the slope but was quickly scooped up by Scheffler, creating a heartwarming moment that went viral. RELATED: Scottie Scheffler Delivers All-Time Quote on the Importance of Family Scottie Scheffler, the world's No. 1 golfer, delivered a profound reflection at a press conference before the 2025 Open Championship, where he emphasized that his family, not golf, is his true priority. 'Is it great to be able to win tournaments and to accomplish the things I have in the game of golf? Yeah, it brings tears to my eyes just to think about because I've literally worked my entire life to be good at this sport,' Scheffler said. 'To have that kind of sense of accomplishment, I think, is a pretty cool feeling.' He expressed that the fleeting euphoria of winning tournaments doesn't fulfill him deeply, however, as life quickly moves on to mundane moments, such as deciding what to eat for dinner. 'This (golf) is not a fulfilling life. It's fulfilling from the sense of accomplishment, but it's not fulfilling from a sense of the deepest places of your heart,' Scheffler added. Scheffler stated he would retire from professional golf if it ever negatively impacted his relationship with his wife or son, underscoring that being a great father outweighs being a great golfer. 'I'm blessed to be able to come out here and play golf, but if my golf ever started affecting my home life or it ever affected the relationship I have with my wife or my son, that's going to be the last day that I play out here for a living,' he concluded. 'Because I'd much rather be a great father than I would be a great golfer. At the end of the day, that's what's more important to me.' Scheffler's candid and emotional comments on the importance of being a great husband and father compared to being a great golfer garnered nearly six million views.
