Prime Day might be over but these epic mattress deals are still live — save up to $1,020
From 27% off Helix mattresses with code TOMS27 to savings of up to $1,020 in the Tempur-Pedic closeout sale, plus affordable options at Amazon, many of the best mattresses you can buy online are at great prices now.
We track and test mattresses all year round and while Prime Day isn't usually the absolute best time to shop for a new bed (that's Black Friday, if you're wondering), we've seen some pretty impressive deals this July on both luxury and affordable beds, with some prices matching the big Black Friday deals.
Without further ado, here's our pick of the best offers lingering post Prime Day sleep deals.
1. Saatva Classic Mattress: twin was from $1,399 now from $1,190 at SaatvaThe 5 out of 5 star Saatva Classic mattress revolutionized our sleep editor Claire's sleep, helping her ward off hip pain and wake up feeling well-rested. And with three firmness levels to choose from, it's a mattress that appeals to nearly all sleep styles. There's 15% off all sizes of the game-changing Classic right now, which isn't the biggest Saatva mattress sale we've seen in recent weeks — that was $400 off — but possibly the best deal you'll see until at least Labor Day in September. So, if you're looking for a luxury bed to see you through warm summer nights (we awarded it full marks for temperature regulation) we suggest you snap up 15% off what is simply the best mattress online right now. A queen is $1,785 (was $2,099) and you get a 365-night trial, lifetime warranty and free white glove delivery.
2. Helix Midnight Luxe Mattress: twin was from $1,436 now from $1,048.28 at HelixThe Helix Midnight Luxe is simply the best mattress for side sleepers and one of the best hybrid mattresses overall. While Prime Day has been running at Amazon, Helix have been running their own 'Dream Day' Helix mattress sale knocking 25% off their mattress range. Our readers can make that discount even sweeter with the code TOMS27, which cuts an extra 2% off. This cuts a queen size to $1,751 (was $2,398.66). That includes free shipping, a 100-night trial and lifetime warranty.
3. Casper The One Mattress: twin was $749 now $599 at CasperThe Capser One Mattress is the brand's flagship foam bed and a strong contender for our best memory foam mattress guide. The supportive feel is great back sleepers and our side sleeping lead tester was surprised by how much she enjoyed the firm feel, although the One does have a tendency to sleep hot. When they're running, Casper mattress sales tend to knock 20% to 30% off across the mattress suite. While the current 20% off sale isn't the biggest discount, $799 for a queen (was $999), is a competitive price on a reliable memory foam bed (and a student-friendly price on one of our favorite mattresses for college students.)
4. Serta 12" Five Star Mattress: twin was $499 now $349.30 at AmazonThe new Serta Five Star Mattress is a budget hybrid designed to prevent lower back pain thanks to the use of zoned lumbar support. Even at full MSRP it is an affordable bed and the current Amazon deal makes it even better value for money. One of the few Prime Day deals still running, there's 30% off the 12" model, which is available in two firmness levels (plush pillow top and firm), knocking a queen size to $419.30 (was $599). We think that's a great price on a mattress made with CertiPUR-US materials and complete with a 10-year warranty. But this 'Limited Prime deal' might not stick around for long, so take advantage of the saving while you can.
5. Tuft & Needle Mint Hybrid Mattress: twin was $1,116 now $1,046.25 at AmazonThis hybrid mattress is built with specialist cooling technology akin to some of the best cooling beds of the year. Its open-cell adaptive foam is breathable and infused with cooling gel and graphite for improved temperature regulation and contouring support. Whether you shop at Amazon or Tuft & Needle you can bag a queen for the discounted price of $1,496.25 now (full price $1,774,94) — one of the best prices we've seen on this bed. And it comes with a 100-night trial, 10-year warranty and free shipping.
6. Tempur-Pedic Tempur-Adapt mattress: twin long was from $1,699 now from $1,189.30 at Tempur-Pedic OutletAlthough it may not be the newest model, this previous generation of the Tempur-Pedic Tempur-Adapt mattress is still an incredibly supportive and comfortable bed from one of our favorite mattress brands. Our Tempur-Pedic Tempur-Adapt mattress review team agreed its standout feature is pressure relief thanks to the responsiveness of Tempur-Material foams and, combined with a supportive base, it excels at soothing aching joints. Shop while stocks last at Tempur-Pedic outlet to score up to $1,019.40 on this luxury bed. You can snap up a queen size for $1,539.30 (was $2,199). While a 10-year warranty applies, there is no return period in this closeout sale.
7. EGOHOME 12" Mattress (queen): was $429 now $329 at AmazonThe EGOHOME mattress is a memory foam bed in a box built with copper gel foam, CoolFlex foam, support foam and a breathable graphene cover to bring you cool sleep along with the cradling, hugging feel of memory foam. Our reviewer says: "The all-foam bed delivers sink-in comfort on a budget without skimping on support for back, front, and side sleepers." Only the queen size is discounted at Amazon right now at $329.99 (was $429.99.) It was slightly cheaper during Prime Day but the current offer is $40 less than the usual sale price (and you don't need to be a Prime member to save.)
8. Serta 10" Cooling Gel Memory Foam Mattress: twin was from $399 now from $303.99 at AmazonThe 10" medium-firm Serta Cooling Gel Memory Foam mattress is an affordable pick for side and back sleepers looking for pressure relief on a budget. There's up to 34% off at Amazon now, dropping a queen to $363 (was $549) and a king to $524.25 (was $699), which is outstanding value. Shopping at Amazon means you're getting the best price on this mattress right now (it sits at $378 for a queen size at Walmart).

This Spendy Thermostat Is Paying for Itself by Cutting My Energy Bills and It's Still 14% Off
Amazon Prime Day sale: The Nest Learning Thermostat Gen 4 is available for $240 -- a discount of 14% or $40 -- as a deal that's still live post Amazon's July Prime Day sale. Since price is the biggest drawback of this thermostat, this deal makes snapping one up much more compelling. CNET's key takeaways $240 for a smart thermostat may sound like a tough deal, but mine is set to pay for itself this summer thanks to lower heating and cooling payments. Automated Eco Modes make energy saving easy, even if you don't have time to plan out your schedule. Local utility rebates may also help make the thermostat more affordable. My Nest Learning Thermostat Gen 4 is astonishingly beautiful -- I've had people stop in my hallway just to look at the shifting rain and sunset animations. But that beauty, and all the smart features inside, is pricey: Normally priced at $280, it's one of the most expensive smart thermostats I recommend. So why take the plunge? Because Nest's Eco modes are so effective, my Nest smart thermostat is set to pay for itself this summer through electricity savings -- and I barely had to do anything except set it up. Here's how it all works, and why I'm glad I kept this Nest smart thermostat around. Read more: One Tiny Gadget Is the Unsung Hero of Today's Smart, Energy-Saving Home My experience with the Nest Learning Thermostat 4th-gen A Nest Thermostat showing lightning. Google Nest With a larger dial than ever, the Nest Learning Thermostat 4 is well-suited to showing off, both aesthetically and with data-backed insights on indoor and outdoor temperatures, humidity and more. My favorite customization is putting the outside weather at the forefront of the display, which shows moving weather graphics that capture the current state of the skies, from falling snow to twinkling stars. Google's research indicates people save around 10% to 15% on their energy bills with a smart thermostat, which works out to an average savings of $132 to $145 per year. Nest's reports help you chart savings and troubleshoot energy problems. Tyler Lacoma/CNET Those numbers reflected my results fairly well. From early fall to the colder winter months, I saved around $10 to $15 per month with Nest's tweaks and by balancing my electricity usage with less costly natural gas heating. As the months warm up that number is growing higher, and I expect to save around $20 per month in the summer heat -- enough to pay for my thermostat sometime this year. After that, it's all gravy. Smarts behind a pretty face Nest Thermostat 4th-gen showing app controls, sensor settings and more. Tyler Lacoma/CNET Given permission, the thermostat learns my habits and adjusts heating and cooling levels in response. Auto-Eco mode, for example, will turn the thermostat down automatically if it senses there's no activity in the house, which saves more money. Adaptive Eco will take care of the details for me, while Eco Hold will stick to a money-saving temperature that I choose manually. The Auto-Scheduling function does something similar, since it learns how I adjust the thermostat throughout the day and mimics my comfort preferences over time so I don't have to keep tweaking the settings. Google Home makes it easy to apply weekly schedules in moments. Tyler Lacoma/CNET Adjust the temperature manually at any time and when you see the green leaf icon appear, you'll know you're in savings mode. That makes it easy to adjust on the fly when the temperature feels about right, but you'd like to squeeze more savings out of the thermostat. Nest's Eco Modes also generate reports so I can see monthly progress and note any sudden problems or unexpected energy use. If there's a strange jump in energy use, the scheduling may be off, or you may be using electricity-hungry devices too much (my space heater and I are guilty of this). There's also a gamified "leafs" competition against other users that I don't care much about, but it's there for those interested. Satellite sensors and other ways to save Thermostat satellite sensors are one of the best inventions for home heating. Tyler Lacoma/CNET My Nest model also came with a satellite sensor, a little white puck that wirelessly transmits the temperature where it's placed to the thermostat. I can tell the Nest Learning Thermostat 4 to turn on or off based on its own built-in readings, on the readings of the satellite sensor, or a combination of both. Sensors like these help thermostats be more accurate based on where you actually spend time. For example, if I'm going to be spending the evening in a movie session at my TV or computer, I can bring the sensor along and when those heat-exhaling electronics heat up my personal space, the thermostat will take that as a sign to shut off early. The Nest thermostat smart home integrations are very limited, but that does make it easier to set up. Tyler Lacoma/CNET Then there are the peak hours programs, under names like Peak Perks, Rush Hour Rewards, Nest Renew from Google and other labels that indicate a partnership with utility companies. If your local utility supports these programs, you can join up and your Nest thermostat will make additional small changes throughout the day, avoiding the often-pricier peak hour energy use when possible. You give up some control of your thermostat with programs like these, which may displease some users, but it does enable you to save more. Many energy providers will also offer bonuses or rebates you can use to recoup the cost of an expensive thermostat even faster. A quick note about setup: If you're worried about installing the thermostat in your home, there's not much to fear from the process. I have a full guide here, but as long as you practice electrical safety and snap a picture of your current thermostat wiring, setting up the Nest Thermostat Gen 4 and getting it connected to Wi-Fi shouldn't be a problem, especially with Google Home app walkthroughs. The specs for the Nest Learning Thermostat 4th-gen Diameter: 3.9 in (98 mm) Depth: 1.1 in (29 mm) Weight: 5.7 oz (161.8 g) Display: 2.7 inch (68 mm) diameter circular liquid crystal display (600 x 600 pixels) Sensors: Soli sensor for Motion Sense, Temperature, Humidity, Ambient light Power consumption: Less than 1 kWh/month Power source: HVAC system wiring C (common) Wire: Not required Connectivity: Wi-Fi 802.11n (2.4 GHz / 5 GHz) HVAC system compatibility (Check your Nest compatibility here): Most 24V systems, including gas, electric, oil, forced air, heat pump, and radiant. It can control: Heating 1, 2, and 3 stages (W1, W2, W3); Cooling 1 and 2 stages (Y1, Y2); Heat pump with auxiliary and emergency heat (O/B, AUX, E); Fan (G, G2, G3); Power (C, RH, RC); Humidifier and dehumidifier (HUM, DEHUM); Ventilation (VENT). Smart home: Works with Google Home and Matter Warranty: 2-year standard for retail, 5-year standard for HVAC Pros Certifications: Energy Star-certified CNET's buying advice Nest's thermostat is one of the best high-end models I've seen. Tyler Lacoma/CNET It turns out a $240 smart thermostat isn't such a tough sell when I can see how mine will pay for itself in just about a year. It offers a plethora of energy-saving modes that users can pick from to rack up monthly savings -- most of them automated without requiring tinkering or calculators. I've even seen it available with rebates and free installation to speed up that payoff date. While Nest's circular thermostats have always had a flair for the dramatic, the Gen-4 model blows away the competition with a larger design that makes the most of its beautiful LED lighting and presence sensing to light up whenever someone walks past. The bright green leaf icon always shows instant savings for those who don't want to dive too deep into app management. Those who do want to explore the app will find settings for seasons, learning behaviors, weekly schedules and lots more.

Jeff Bezos picks retired Amazon exec as the new CEO of his $10B Bezos Earth Fund
Tom Taylor, president and CEO of the Bezos Earth Fund. (LinkedIn Photo) Amazon founder Jeff Bezos has pulled one of his former executives out of retirement to become the president and CEO of the Bezos Earth Fund, a philanthropic effort to help the planet. Tom Taylor worked for Amazon for more than two decades, retiring in October 2022 as senior vice president of Amazon Alexa and a member of the company's senior leadership team (S-team). 'I am thrilled to join the Bezos Earth Fund and lead with the bold mandate to invent our way out of Earth's environmental challenges with a combination of long-term thinking, technical curiosity, and excellent execution,' Taylor wrote today on LinkedIn. 'I am excited to work with Jeff and Lauren [Sanchez Bezos] to implement their vision and grateful to inherit an incredibly capable and mission driven team.' Bezos launched the fund in February 2020 and issued its first $791 million to 16 environmental groups later that year. The organization set a target of dispersing $10 billion by 2030, and has granted roughly $2.3 billion so far. Its diverse slate of programming includes focuses on land conservation, planet friendly foods, environmental justice, low-carbon energy and industries, climate tech innovation, monitoring and data, and financial markets. Taylor's appointment marks a notable change to the top spot, as the fund's top executives in the past had largely come from the environmental community. Andrew Steer, the former head of the World Resources Institute, was the fund's first CEO and president, resigning his position in February. 'Andrew has decades of experience in environmental and climate science as well as economic and social policy in the U.S., Europe, Asia, and Africa,' Bezos said at the time of Steer's hire in 2021. A couple of months later, the fund brought on Charlotte Pera, who was previously president and CEO of the ClimateWorks Foundation. She departed the Bezos initiative in January 2024, having served as vice president and deputy CEO. When he announced his departure earlier this year, Steer said the fund had 'assembled some of the leading international experts in our field and built a team of some of the most passionate, imaginative, caring, and joyful staff I have ever had the pleasure of working with.' Taylor started his Amazon career as senior vice president of seller services, Amazon Payments and Fulfillment by Amazon. Prior to that, he was director of operations at K2 sports and was an engineer at Delphi Automotive Systems. 'After I retired from Amazon, I followed the good advice to consider this as 'Quarter 3' of my life and looked for an opportunity that balanced my desire for both adventure and service,' he said on LinkedIn. 'Leading the Bezos Earth Fund is this perfect opportunity — a place where I can bring something to the table, learn from some amazing people, and help the planet now and for future generations.'

If You Missed Coffee Machine on Prime Day, Nespresso Vertuo Pop+ Bundle Just Got Even Cheaper Now
There's something about that first sip of coffee in the morning that can set the tone for your entire day. Really, for a lot of us, grabbing a cup from a local coffee shop feels like second nature, but those daily runs can add up fast. You can spend a lot of cash on doing those things every day and not even realize it until you're spending $50 a week or more on coffee drinks you could make at home. Check out Amazon to get the Nespresso Vertuo Pop+ Coffee and Espresso Machine with Aeroccino Milk Frother for just $132, down from its usual price of $179. That's $47 off and a discount of 26%. See at Amazon This machine makes it super easy to brew some delicious coffee in the blink of an eye. Even if you're not a coffee expert, it can simplify the whole brewing process for you. You pop in a capsule, hit one button, and that's it. The machine reads the barcode on each Nespresso Vertuo pod to automatically adjust brewing time and temperature, which means you don't have to mess with any settings. It brews everything from a quick espresso to a larger, more traditional cup of coffee, and it does it quickly too. You'll go from capsule to cup in under a minute. And that's fast enough to help get you out of bed and out the door with a caffeine fix each day. It's pretty small and compact too, which makes it good for small kitchens, counters, or home offices. Even still, it can help deliver a rich, full-bodied coffee experience that rivals what you'd get from more expensive machines. It's also one of the few models in this size class that offers the same advanced Centrifusion technology found in Nespresso's higher-end machines, so if you ever want to upgrade, you can get a taste of that world early. Plus, because it's part of the Vertuo line, you'll have access to Nespresso's wide range of coffee and espresso pods, including limited editions and seasonal flavors. Right now's great time to make the switch to brewing at home. You get almost 30% off now off its regular cost, which makes it easier to brew up some premium espresso and incorporate it into your daily routine without the premium price tag. If you're tired of long lines, admittedly gross coffee, or the money drain of stopping at Starbucks every single day, you should grab this coffee maker. See at Amazon
