Event to highlight Thai 'soft power'
Government spokesman Jirayu Houngsub said on Sunday the event, held under the theme "Thailand's Opportunities in the Creative Cultural Industry", is a joint initiative by the Ministry of Culture, the Department of Cultural Promotion and the National Soft Power Strategy Committee with support from the private sector, local communities and international networks.
It also brings together two former prime ministers, along with the incumbent, to address participants.
The event aims to advance Thailand's soft power and elevate its presence on the global stage.
It will highlight 14 creative industries, from food and fashion to film and tourism, as tools for sustainable economic growth.
A key feature of the event is the Visionary Stage, where top thinkers, creators and leaders from Thailand and abroad will share insights and experiences.
Suspended Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra, in her capacity as culture minister, will on Tuesday open the event with a speech on "Thailand Rising: Tourism, Education and the New Soft Power Frontier".
On Wednesday, former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra will speak on "Crafting the Future: From Otop to ThaiWorks and Beyond".
Meanwhile, former prime minister Srettha Thavisin will join a discussion with Thai boxer Buakaw Banchamek and taekwondo champion Panipak Wongpattanakit on "Rethinking Thai Sports in a Disruptive Era" on Thursday.
The forum will also feature interactive exhibitions, business networking opportunities, expert-led workshops and immersive tech-driven experiences.
Admission is free with advance registration at splash.thacca.go.th.
"This is a rare opportunity to learn from national leaders and leading experts while gaining inspiration to turn cultural value into economic power," the government spokesman said.

Cambodian nationals throng Chanthaburi border checkpoint to return home
More than 2,000 Cambodian nationals have crossed back into their home country via Ban Laem permanent checkpoint in Pong Nam Ron district of Chanthaburi on Friday morning, following renewed clashes along the Thai-Cambodian border near Ta Muen Thom temple ruins. RAdm Charamphakorn Promphakorn, deputy commander of the Chanthaburi-Trat Border Defence Command, said on Friday morning that Cambodian nationals gathered at Ban Laem checkpoint in tambon Thepnimit in large numbers to cross back into their country. The Chanthaburi Marine Task Force issued a special directive to facilitate the safe and orderly movement of both Thai and Cambodian nationals wanting to return to their respective countries, he said. The border checkpoint has been temporarily opened for cross-border movement from 9am to 3pm daily, effective from Thursday. Officials have been deployed to provide assistance and ensure a smooth passage for those returning. Thai nationals wanting to re-enter the country through the same checkpoint will also be given the same assistance. Troops from Thailand and Cambodia exchanged heavy artillery fire on Friday in two lower northeastern provinces bordering Cambodia following the clashes on Thursday. Thailand's Second Army Region reported clashes from before dawn in Ubon Ratchathani and Surin provinces and said Cambodia had used artillery and Russian-made BM-21 rocket systems.

Cambodia's Hun Sen deletes military map photo after brief Facebook post
Cambodian Senate President Hun Sen briefly posted a photograph on his personal Facebook page showing himself examining large-scale military maps before hastily deleting the image. On Friday, people observed that Hun Sen had removed a specific photograph showing detailed maps spread across a command table, with the former premier and his team gathered around them. Within minutes, only the map photograph was deleted, leaving other images that showed the general atmosphere of the military command centre. Many observers believe Hun Sen was concerned that operational details visible in the maps might be compromised. Military experts identified the maps as 1:100,000 scale charts conforming to Article 2 of Cambodia's constitution, originally produced between 1933-1953 and internationally recognised between 1963-1969. Hun Sen's Facebook page has been used to counter reports in Thai media suggesting he had left the country. The posts emphasise that he remains actively involved in command operations against "Thai invaders". Hun Sen stated he is currently participating in video conferencing and military coordination alongside the current Prime Minister, Defence Minister, Army Commander-in-Chief, and military commanders at all levels in operations against Thai forces.

Cambodia's attacks kill 12 Thais
The number of fatalities from Cambodia's attacks on Thai civilian areas has risen to 12, including an eight-year-old boy, with over 30 injuries, according to the Thai army. As of 2.15pm on Thursday, Thai authorities confirmed that civilian zones were hit by supporting fire, resulting in fatalities, injuries and property damage after Cambodian forces launched artillery strikes into Thai territory following a morning assault on a Thai military base near the Ta Muen Thom temple in Surin province. The affected areas included: Surin: Two civilians killed, including an eight-year-old boy; four civilians injured; five soldiers wounded. Ubon Ratchathani: One civilian killed; four seriously injured. Si Sa Ket: Eight civilians killed, including a 15-year-old; 15 civilians injured; one soldier killed, two wounded. Buri Ram: One civilian injured. The attacks also caused property damage, with reports of residential damage and damage to agricultural property and livestock in affected areas. In a statement, Public Health Minister Somsak Thepsuthin condemned Cambodia's actions, labelling the attacks as inhumane and a severe violation of human dignity and Thailand's sovereignty. He highlighted ongoing efforts to coordinate emergency medical responses, with additional personnel and resources dispatched to the impacted zones. Mr Somsak reaffirmed Thailand's commitment to safeguarding its people, stating: "The government will pursue all necessary measures to respond to the aggression and ensure the safety of its citizens." The army reiterated its commitment to protecting Thailand's sovereignty and its citizens, stating it is prepared to take all necessary military measures in response to what it described as violations of humanitarian principles. "The Royal Thai Army strongly condemns the violent actions targeting civilians by Cambodian forces," the statement read. "Thailand stands ready to defend its sovereignty and protect its people from such inhumane acts." Thai villages hit by Cambodian rockets In Surin's Kap Choeng district, two people were killed and two injured when BM-21 rockets fired from Cambodia struck their village in the morning. Evacuations of up to 40,000 residents to emergency shelters were under way. District chief Sutthiroj Charoenthanasak confirmed that two rockets struck the village at 9.40am while residents were awaiting evacuation. Four people were wounded, with two later dying at hospital: a 12-year-old child and an adult. Authorities were evacuating people from 86 villages to emergency shelters at schools in the neighbouring Prasat district, Surin. Mr Sutthiroj said shelter capacity was adequate and most evacuees had arrived safely. Officials have not yet surveyed the attack site due to concerns over continued Cambodian artillery fire, he added. Patients in Kap Choeng were being evacuated from Phanom Dong Rak and Kap Choeng hospitals after rockets fell near the Ta Muen temple ruins. Further casualty reports were not immediately available. In Si Sa Ket, two people were reported killed and many other civilians hurt when Cambodian rockets fell into a supermarket at a petrol station in Ban Phue, provincial governor Watthana Phutthichat said. Fire and Rescue Thailand reported that the two deaths at the supermarket were students. A Thaipbs reporter said their bodies were found in the ruins. The 2nd Army Region posted a video of the incident on its Facebook page at 11.30am.
