Hansal Mehta criticised the repetitive nature of film and series promotions, questioning their effectiveness and whether they truly engage audiences.
Filmmaker Hansal Mehta is known for sharing his brutally honest take on the Hindi film industry and life in general. He recently expressed his candid thoughts on the current state of film and series promotions on X (formerly Twitter). He criticised the formulaic nature of marketing campaigns and questioned whether it contributes to success.
In a long post on X, Hansal Mehta asked whether these standard strategies truly engage audiences or merely create an illusion of success. Without naming any specific film or artist, he highlighted how promotional activities have become rigid templates — the same actors appearing on the same podcasts, answering the same questions, and making identical appearances across cities and events.
On Friday, the veteran filmmaker wrote on X, 'Do these generic, template promotions for films and series actually work? Do they make people watch? Do they make the film/series any better? Or do they simply sustain an ecosystem built on illusion—PR agencies, costume designers, event planners, influencers, sponsors, red carpets, press conferences, paid 'reviews', social media fluff. It all looks like success."
He continued, 'It feels like popularity. But is it? Shouldn't a good trailer stir curiosity? Shouldn't compelling promo units and—most importantly—a good film or series be enough? Instead, we're stuck watching the same actors answer the same 10 questions on the same podcasts in the same studios, flying from one city to another, chasing a perception."
Mehta, who has never shied away from expressing his views, concluded his post with a thought-provoking question: 'This isn't a rant—it's a question: What's the best way to promote a story today without becoming part of a machinery that serves neither the art nor the artist?" Take a look:

Though he didn't name any filmmaker or specific film promotion, his remarks come amid the aggressive campaigns for Metro… In Dino, and other films.
Hansal Mehta is renowned for acclaimed works such as Shahid, Faraaz, Chhalaang, the hit series Scam 1992, and recently-released The Buckingham Murders starring Kareena Kapoor Khan. He began his career in 1993 with Zee TV's cookery show Khana Khazana, which also launched celebrity chef Sanjeev Kapoor's television journey.

My song is about a woman finding her soulmate: Keneeshaa

Keneeshaa points out that Andrum Indrum is about a woman finding her soulmate and elaborates, 'The song is about bringing out the boss lady in a woman. It is also about her finding her soulmate and how she isn't afraid to put the word out anymore. The video will show how she's a queen and how she can live with her main-character energy despite the soulmate coming in.' Music is what makes me the happiest,' says singer-songwriter Keneeshaa. As we catch up with her during the shoot of her music video for her latest single, Andrum Indrum , she opens up about how her songs are a reflection of her life, composing for films in the future, and more… 'ANDRUM INDRUM IS ABOUT BRINGING OUT THE BOSS LADY IN ME' Keneeshaa points out that Andrum Indrum is about a woman finding her soulmate and elaborates, 'The song is about bringing out the boss lady in a woman. It is also about her finding her soulmate and how she isn't afraid to put the word out anymore. The video will show how she's a queen and how she can live with her main-character energy despite the soulmate coming in.' ' Ravi Mohan is sweet, charming, and the nicest person inside and out' Keneeshaa refers to Ravi Mohan, who appears in the song , as a 'blessing in disguise' for Andrum Indrum, and adds, 'He's sweet, charming, and the nicest person. When times are rough, it takes more than strength for someone in pain to choose how they can stand by certain people, and his support only made the video and the song hundred times better.' 'I'M TRYING NOT TO LIMIT MYSELF TO A CERTAIN GENRE OF MUSIC' Referring to herself as a 'peaceful and happy songwriter,' the singer states, 'I enjoy experimenting and exploring different genres. If I feel an emotion, I'm going to put a tune to it, give it some character and hope to God that everybody likes it. Every song of mine is a story from my life, of my life, and for my life. As independent artistes, we've the power to advocate for anything and everything in the world. I've got about five songs coming out in multiple languages. Tamil, English, and Hindi bring different emotions in me. I'm trying not to limit myself to a certain genre of music.' 'WHEN I PERFORM, I DON'T THINK OF ANYTHING THAT WENT WRONG IN MY LIFE' Speaking about what singing and performing mean to her, she says that she considers the stage to be a temple. 'Whether it's coming on set for this music video, or when I get on stage for a performance, the minute it's my showtime, I don't think of anything that has gone wrong in my life or may go wrong. My world is shut, and my entire focus is on what I can deliver at the moment.' 'I DON'T THINK HARIHARAN, AR RAHMAN AND SALIM-SULAIMAN CAN EVER MAKE A MISTAKE' Ask Keneeshaa about some of her favourite artistes and she replies, 'I adore Karthik and Sid Sriram. I'm a big fan of Shweta Mohan. I feel I would marry her voice if I were allowed to. I'm also a huge fan of Agam and Thaikkudam Bridge. As an indie musician, I look up to them for what they produce on record and on stage. I've submitted to Hariharan, AR Rahman and Salim–Sulaiman, meaning I don't think these artistes can ever make a mistake and do anything less than what they've already done. Every work that they put out only gets better. They are like a phoenix that's always rising, and I love that because I manifest for someone to say that they submitted to me, maybe five years from now.'

Sona Mohapatra Takes A Dig At Shefali Jariwala's 'Smutty, XX' Kaanta Laga, Gets MASSIVELY Trolled

Last Updated: Sona slammed the makers of Shefali's remix version, but her comment about the actress's death has angered many. Singer Sona Mohapatra has called out Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru for announcing the 'retirement' of Shefali Jariwala 's Kaanta Laga. The singer slammed the filmmakers as the song is a remix and not an original. However, in her post, Sona curtly mentioned Shefali's death, which has upset the late actress's fans. The singer is now being trolled on Reddit. Sona Mohapatra wrote, 'Three legends created Kaanta Laga. Composer, lyricist and singer; RD Burman, Majrooh Sultanpuri, Lata Mangeshkar. This utterly misplaced 'retirement' by people calling themselves 'makers' to get some PR out of a death, nothing less. (Viral B is a paid site, largely.) She added, 'These two only created a smutty video with a remix with a 19-year-old. (Of course, no permissions from legends required for their XX interpretation.) RIP and all for the 42-year-old lady, but legacy?" For the unversed, Shefali Jariwala passed away at the age of 42, and her demise shook not only her fans and family but the entire industry as well. Popular for her iconic dance number Kaanta Laga, Jariwala succumbed to sudden cardiac arrest. After the actress's demise, Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru, who directed the iconic music video, paid their condolences to the actress. 'You always said you wanted to be the one and only 'Kaanta Laga' girl. So we never made a sequel — and we never will. We're retiring Kaanta Laga forever. It was always yours. It will always be yours… Shefali… RIP," they wrote in an emotional note. Sona Mohapatra's Instagram note has gone viral, and Shefali Jariwala's fans aren't happy. One person wrote, 'This is so unnecessary and insensitive, especially if Shefali's loved ones read it. 'RIP and all to the 42-year-old lady,' she can't even say her name?!" Another wrote, 'This is actually so insensitive and hurtful for her close one. Also, there is no need to be rude to a person who is no more here to defend herself." One person wrote, 'I have lost even the last shred of respect I had for her." Another added, 'That's honestly such a disgusting way to talk about someone who did no harm and is not even between us anymore. That song started Shefali's career, and she was proud of it. She literally owned her beginnings, which not many do out of embarrassment." One comment read, 'This is beyond disrespectful." 'Our generation wouldn't have heard that song if not for Shefali. The old song wasn't a cult classic amongst millennials," another person added. The classic 1970s Hindi track Kaanta Laga was originally sung by Lata Mangeshkar in the film Samadhi. It gained explosive popularity in 2002 when DJ Doll remixed it, accompanied by a bold and controversial music video featuring model Shefali Jariwala. First Published:

Metro…In Dino: Konkona Sen Sharma breaks silence on comparison between Pankaj Tripathi & Irrfan Khan: 'I don't want to...'

Konkona Sen Sharma has reacted to the comparison between Irrfan and Pankaj and shared that the latter has done 'more than justice' to the character of Monty read more Metro…In Dino, the spiritual sequel of Life In A Metro, released yesterday and opened to rave reviews among fans. While in the first part, the late Irrfan Khan was paired opposite Konkona Sen Sharma, in the recent release, Pankaj Tripathi has played the onscreen husband of the actress. In fact, the makers paid tribute to Irrfan by retaining the same character name, Pankaj, in the sequel, which is now Monty, at Konkona's suggestion. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD Now, the actress has reacted to the comparison between Irrfan and Pankaj and shared that the latter has done 'more than justice' to the character of Monty. 'Life In A Metro was 17–18 years ago. That time, Irrfan and I played Shruti and Monty. They were a much younger couple with younger concerns. Now, Pankaj and my characters are different. They are a much older, married couple with kids. They have jobs, EMIs, responsibilities,' Konkona told Livemint. 'They have a good marriage, but now it's becoming a little boring. I feel like it's with so many people… when you are in a marriage, you hope it's forever only. It's a long-term commitment. The nature of the relationship changes. Anurag has tried to explore that because love is not only when a girl and a boy meet. It doesn't end after that. We have seen love as such a vast, complex emotion throughout our lives, in all different forms. Pankaj and I are tackling it at a different juncture,' she added. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD Speaking about the comparison of her chemistry with Irrfan and now Tripathi, she shared, 'I don't want to think about it, honestly. Not in my hands at all. For me, there is no such thing because it's a very fresh thing. It's very new. If they were playing the same character or I were playing the same character, then yes… but there are so many new things this time.'
