'Harry Potter' actor undergoes emergency surgery after doctors warn he might never walk or speak again

Fox News14-04-2025
Nick Moran, who portrayed Scabior in the "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" films, is recovering from a "life-threatening" diagnosis that caused him to undergo emergency spinal surgery.
"Nick had surgery a little over a week and a half ago and is home walking, talking and making a full recovery," a representative for the 55-year-old actor told People magazine.
"Nick will be back working on his next film shortly and is looking forward to being back at the studio, tending to his busy schedule. Nick would like to thank all of the well-wishers and assure them that he is well and appreciative of their support."
In a lengthy interview with The Daily Mail, Moran's friend, Terry Stone, told the outlet that Moran's girlfriend was the one to encourage him to seek medical help after the actor was experiencing neck pain.
Stone said his friend was told he needed an "emergency operation because this is life-threatening."
"I spoke to one of his family members, and he damaged his neck somehow, and it's affecting his spinal cord and some of the things that operate your speech and your legs," Stone said.
"He's recovering but [doctors] basically said [ahead of surgery] that he might never walk or talk again, which was traumatic. He's not in the best of health, but when he came out of the operation I was like, 'Thank, God,' because I think he'd decided he'd rather not walk or talk than die."
"They had to replace [bones in his neck] with artificial bone, it was micro-surgery and because there's so many nerves around the neck and spine, this made the operation tricky with those awful chances of not being able to speak or walk again," he added.
Stone said that while he's recovering, Moran still has a long road ahead of him.

"He's speaking now, which is a good sign, but he's shuffling around like a 100-year-old and has a neck brace on and taking it easy," he said.
A representative for Moran did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital's request for comment.

What Happened Today on Bold and the Beautiful July 29: Nick's Got A Ring, Li's Got A Massive Secret!

The Bold and the Beautiful recap for Tuesday, July 29 saw Nick plotting a huge grand gesture, Taylor and Donna butting heads, and Li's dirty secret coming to light. What You Missed Today On Bold and the Beautiful Ridge (Thorsten Kaye), Eric (John McCook), and Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) made it to Italy and were greeted at the hotel with fanfare and a little soiree. Ridge couldn't help but notice a Marone shipping boat in the distance and even seeing the name got under his skin. Yuck. It put such a damper on his mood, he took off from the party leaving Brooke and Eric to do all the mixing and mingling on their own. Also in Italy is Nick (Jack Wagner). His first stop was to check in on his boat and make sure it's ready for grand plans. Those plans? Well, they include a stunning diamond ring! The dock manager gave him tips to make his date even more special and Nick was beaming. There was no doubt in his head that he wouldn't win Brooke over…well, as long as the dock workers got his boat going. WATCH THIS: SoapHub Says unpacks the week's juiciest soap buzz. Nick's next stop was the party to steal a few moments with his lady love. Not only did he invite her on a lovely date, but they kissed right then and there. Right where Eric could see it all! And, no, Eric was not pleased to watch that passionate lip lock! Second Best Is Good Too Back in Los Angeles, Donna (Jennifer Gareis) and Taylor (Rebecca Budig) made nice while chit chatting about missing their men. They dreamed of being in Italy with their fellows but hey, this is a work trip. Ridge and Eric probably wouldn't have time for them anyway. Taylor did wonder, though, if Nick would be interrupting the work trip since he has business to handle over there, too. Donna was stunned to hear Nick wasn't just around again but that he was trying to woo Brooke. While Taylor thought it was great, Donna reminded her that there was only one man on his planet of 8 billion people who could make Brooke happy and Taylor was engaged to him. Taylor was sure Nick would make Brooke just as happy. He did before and he can do it again. In fact, Taylor remarked on how perfect Nick is for Donna's dear sister. MORE: Find out what's coming up next on B&B! Li's Dirty Little Secret Over at the hospital, Finn (Tanner Novlan) spied his mother in the hall and called her into his office. She was carrying a box of things from her desk and told Finn she was taking a leave of absence. Much like Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood), she explained she needed a break after all the drama with Luna (Lisa Yamada). Finn pushed for a deeper answer but Li (Naomi Matsuda) kept up with her story. She just wants time to unwind and process everything. Breathe, sleep, maybe get out of town, maybe read a book. When Li brought up Steffy's trip, Finn agreed his wife also needed a breather. Luna left a trail of destruction and while he's not happy his daughter is dead, he can't forget what she did to his wife. They all deserve some downtime and recover after so much trauma. Li urged Finn to take some time for himself as well. If anyone deserves it, it's him. Later, the truth came out about the real reason Li was leaving the hospital in the dust. Back home, she was repeating history. Remember when she announced Finn's death and stole him away to nurse him bak to health? Yes! Well, she's going the same with Luna. She has her unconscious niece/granddaughter all set up in a room at her condo. Solve the daily Crossword

Charlie Kirk embraces 'South Park' parody of him in upcoming episode as a 'badge of honor'

Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk may have cemented himself as a pop culture figure as he appears to have been parodied by "South Park." In a teaser released Tuesday for its upcoming episode, Kirk's likeness was adopted by iconic "South Park" character Eric Cartman, who is seen with a hairstyle similar to the conservative firebrand and is in a heated spat with a classmate, mirroring Kirk's exchanges with students on college campuses. "You can just shut up, Bebe, because you hate America and you love abortion," Cartman shouts at fellow student Bebe Stevens. Kirk quickly embraced the parody, changing his X profile picture to a screenshot of Cartman and posting to his over 5 million followers, "I'm so watching this." Speaking with Fox News Digital, Kirk said he laughed when he first saw the teaser, saying multiple people sent him the clip. He initially thought it was "some sort of AI troll." "I think it's kind of funny and it kind of goes to show the cultural impact and the resonance that our movement has been able to achieve," Kirk told Fox News Digital. "So I look at this as a badge of honor." Kirk said he hasn't seen as much of "South Park" in recent years as he did in high school, but appreciated the long-running animated series being an "equal opportunity offender." While it's unclear what Cartman's Kirk-like persona does in the episode, which will air August 6, last week's season premiere may give a clue. In the previous episode, Cartman is demoralized after it is declared that "woke is dead," causing the foul-mouthed, offensive fourth-grader to have an identity crisis as everyone else in South Park sheds their cultural sensitivities. Meanwhile, controversy erupted in his hometown when South Park Elementary began injecting Christianity into school, even going so far as having Jesus Christ looming in the hallways. "I'm excited to watch it because, look, we as conservatives need to be able to take a joke, right? We shouldn't take ourselves so seriously," Kirk said. "That's something that the left has always done to great detriment to themselves and their movement." "They're professional comedians. They're probably gonna roast me, and I think that's fine. And that's what it's all about, being in public life and, you know, making a difference. And I'm gonna have a good spirit about it. I'll watch it. I'm going to laugh at it," Kirk continued. "From a religious standpoint, we're all sinners. We all fall short of the glory of God. Like from a more practical life standpoint, we're all broken people. Stop taking yourself so seriously. That's probably one of the problems that we've had in our politics is that people can't take a joke." "South Park," which airs on Comedy Central, held no punches against President Donald Trump after the network's parent company Paramount reached a major settlement with him earlier this month to resolve his "60 Minutes" lawsuit. In the 27th season premiere, Trump was repeatedly compared to the late Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein (who "South Park" had previously satirized during the Iraq War), depicted him as literally being in bed with Satan, and was lampooned for leveling lawsuit threats. The episode quickly went viral for showing a life-like graphic depiction of the president and his genitalia. "This show hasn't been relevant for over 20 years and is hanging on by a thread with uninspired ideas in a desperate attempt for attention," White House spokesperson Taylor Rogers told Fox News Digital. "President Trump has delivered on more promises in just six months than any other president in our country's history – and no fourth-rate show can derail President Trump's hot streak." Trey Parker and Matt Stone, the creators of "South Park," recently reached a whopping $1.5 billion streaming deal with Paramount.
