Elon Musk launches Tesla diner with EV charging and rooftop movies
Located on Santa Monica Boulevard, the venue blends nostalgic Americana with modern tech, offering food, entertainment, and fast EV charging under one roof.
The two-story, 9,300-square-foot structure features 80 V4 Supercharger stalls and a 24/7 diner.
Styled with a 1950s drive-in aesthetic, the building includes neon lighting, chrome details, and space-age curves.
The rooftop hosts two 45-foot LED screens that stream classic and family-friendly films to parked Teslas. Audio is transmitted directly through car speakers using geofencing technology.
Inside, the diner serves classic American fare, burgers, wings, shakes, hot dogs, and a standout tuna melt.
Meals are presented in Tesla-branded packaging, with some food containers shaped like miniature Cybertrucks.
Guests can order via touchscreen kiosks or through Tesla vehicle dashboards synced to the venue.
The launch drew long lines of fans and EV drivers. Many waited for hours, with doors opening precisely at 4:20 pm, a timing nod often associated with Elon Musk.
The event also featured servers on roller skates and the debut of Tesla's Optimus humanoid robots delivering snacks like popcorn.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk described the diner as 'one of the coolest spots in L.A.' and hinted at future expansions across other Tesla Supercharger locations.

Tesla confirms $16.5 billion chip deal with Samsung for AI hardware
Elon Musk has confirmed Tesla has signed a $16.5 billion semiconductor supply agreement with Samsung Electronics, a deal set to support the development of the automaker's next-generation AI chips. Samsung disclosed the contract in a regulatory filing, with the deal taking effect from 26 July 2025 through to 31 December 2033, as reported by CNBC. While the South Korean firm did not initially identify its partner, Musk later confirmed Tesla's involvement on social media platform X. 'Samsung's giant new Texas fab will be dedicated to making Tesla's next-generation AI6 chip,' Musk wrote, adding that Tesla will assist in improving production efficiency. 'I will walk the line personally to accelerate the pace of progress,' he said, also suggesting the deal's value could exceed the reported figure. Samsung agreed to allow Tesla to assist in maximizing manufacturing efficiency. This is a critical point, as I will walk the line personally to accelerate the pace of progress. And the fab is conveniently located not far from my house 😃 — Elon Musk (@elonmusk) July 28, 2025 The agreement marks a significant milestone for both firms. Samsung, which already produces Tesla's AI4 chips, will compete directly with TSMC, which is contracted to manufacture Tesla's AI5 series. Samsung noted that further details, including the client's identity, would remain confidential until the contract expires, citing trade secret protections. It also cautioned investors that the agreement could be amended or terminated. The announcement boosted Samsung's share price by more than 6% on Monday - its highest since September 2024. Analysts had previously speculated Tesla was the buyer, with Bloomberg reporting the link ahead of Musk's confirmation. Samsung's giant new Texas fab will be dedicated to making Tesla's next-generation AI6 chip. The strategic importance of this is hard to overstate. Samsung currently makes AI4. TSMC will make AI5, which just finished design, initially in Taiwan and then Arizona. — Elon Musk (@elonmusk) July 28, 2025 The deal comes as Samsung races to strengthen its position in the AI semiconductor market. The company has pledged to begin mass production of 2-nanometre chips and is aiming to secure major orders for its next-generation process. Despite these plans, Samsung has struggled to match rivals in high-bandwidth memory (HBM) production. SK Hynix, currently the leader in HBM technology, is a key supplier to Nvidia, while Samsung's latest version is reportedly delayed until at least September. Samsung will release its second-quarter earnings on Thursday. Analysts expect profit to more than halve, driven by weak demand in its foundry business and slower progress in AI chip adoption.

DOGE deploys AI to target thousands of federal regulations
The Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) is reportedly using a new artificial intelligence tool aimed at significantly reducing the number of federal regulations. According to a report by The Washington Post, a PowerPoint presentation dated 1 July outlines that the DOGE AI Deregulation Decision Tool is designed to analyse approximately 200,000 existing federal regulations. Its objective: to identify rules no longer required by law and facilitate the removal of half of them by the first anniversary of President Donald Trump's return to office. The document suggests that the initiative is already in motion. According to the presentation, the tool has been deployed to review regulations at the Department of Housing and Urban Development and was responsible for drafting '100% of deregulations' at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Although the White House has not formally endorsed the full scope of the plan, a spokesperson acknowledged the work underway. DOGE has built an AI tool to slash federal regulations | TechCrunch — TechCrunch (@TechCrunch) July 27, 2025 'No single plan has been approved or greenlit,' they stated, adding that the DOGE team represents 'the best and brightest in the business.' The AI tool is the latest in a line of technologies developed under the DOGE umbrella, a body that was initially led by Elon Musk during the early months of Trump's current term. Previous systems attributed to DOGE have drawn scrutiny, including a tool designed to process Veterans Affairs contracts that was found to generate inflated or fictitious figures. The current effort forms part of a wider push to streamline federal oversight and reshape the role of government in key regulatory sectors. While critics have raised concerns about transparency and potential overreach, supporters argue that the initiative could lead to increased efficiency and economic agility. As of now, the administration has not provided a detailed breakdown of which regulations could be eliminated or how AI decisions are being validated.

Elon Musk teases AI-powered Vine reviving buzz about defunct short-form video platform
Elon Musk says he's bringing back Vine, his time, 'in AI form.' The brief eight-word post on X set off waves of speculation about what that could mean for the long-defunct six-second video app. Originally launched in 2013 and shut down in 2017, Vine was once a viral hit before losing ground to competitors like Instagram and Snapchat. Musk's statement came without further detail, leaving followers to guess whether an AI-enhanced Vine could mean algorithmically generated content, automated editing tools, or synthetic creators. What's clear is that interest in the platform hasn't faded. His post quickly generated thousands of interactions and even affected the price of Vine-themed memecoins. This isn't the first time Musk has raised hopes for a Vine revival. In 2022, shortly after acquiring Twitter (now X), he ran a poll asking users if they wanted the app back, most responded with a resounding yes. Axios later reported that his team was actively exploring a reboot. The original Vine was acquired by Twitter in 2012 before being shut down in early 2017 during a platform restructure. Vine's co-founder Rus Yusupov reflected in 2022, 'We didn't build the right features in time' and 'didn't help creators monetise.' Still, no official timeline or product details have been confirmed by X. Whether this is a full relaunch or another idea from Musk that may or may not materialise remains to be seen.
