"The feedback is humbling and inspiring": Jimmy Page reacts to fan response to Led Zeppelin movie
Jimmy Page has taken to social media to thank fans for their reaction to screenings of the Becoming Led Zeppelin movie.
"In light of your incredible responses and the demand for the Becoming Led Zeppelin film from those of you that have either viewed it at the IMAX or during its general cinema release, I must say that feedback from fans is just humbling and inspiring," says the Zeppelin man. "Thanks to everyone for your enthusiasm – and here's the trailer for those of you who haven't seen it yet." [Trailer Below]
Becoming Led Zeppelin premiered earlier this month and has since taken over $6M at the box office worldwide after grossing $3M during the opening weekend. The film's $2.6M opening in the US represented the biggest-ever opening weekend ever for an IMAX-exclusive music release.
While Jimmy Page has now reacted to the reception afforded to Becoming Led Zeppelin, the other members of the band have not publicly commented, and Page was the only member of the band who attended the film's original premiere at the Venice Film Festival in 2021,
Elsewhere, the official Led Zeppelin social media accounts have not mentioned the film at all. The band's Facebook/Instagram and Twitter/X pages have been dormant for nearly two years – the last post on each platform shared news of a clear vinyl reissue of Led Zeppelin IV in April 2023 – while the band's most recent post on TikTok was the previous month, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the band's 1973 album Houses Of The Holy.

Ken Jennings brought Matt Damon out in a quest to donate seven figures to charity, and I admitted going in that I'd be disappointed if they walked away with anything less than $1 million. However, the Jeopardy! host ended up exceeding my expectations by avoiding one specific pitfall when it comes to the 'Ask the Audience' lifeline. As Jimmy Kimmel pointed out multiple times during the episode (in reference to his infamous feud with Matt Damon), Ken Jennings did not need a partner to help him on one of the best game shows of all time, but it's certainly more fun to see the celebs have someone to talk out their answers with. However, that's where many get in trouble with the 'Ask the Audience' lifeline, and I was so relieved to hear Jennings say this upon seeing the $250,000 question: I've got a feeling. If there's any chance we're gonna go 'Audience' here, maybe we shouldn't hash it out too much, you know what I mean? Like, prejudice the audience toward one answer or another. Ken Jennings, you are one of Jeopardy!'s biggest winners for a reason. This has been a huge pet peeve of mine on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, hearing the celebrity contestants explain all the reasons why they're leaning toward one answer or another before asking the audience what they think. OF COURSE, they're going to second-guess their own knowledge and go with the celeb's logic. Matt Damon and Ken Jennings, however, kept it quiet, with the Jeopardy! GOAT deciding: Let's ask the audience, then once the votes are in, we can speak freely. Jimmy Kimmel praised their 'smart strategy' of not leading the audience in a specific direction by sharing their thoughts out loud, and it worked! The audience collectively confirmed what Ken Jennings and Matt Damon were both thinking. If they'd talked it out beforehand, there would have been no way to know if the audience members actually knew which animal engaged in 'vertical sleeping' or if they were just trusting the smarts of the celebs on stage. This very issue plagued Drew Carey and Aisha Tyler in the first half of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire's premiere. This was another pair who had the potential to go the distance, with Carey winning $500,000 in his first appearance on the show back in 2000 and Aisha Tyler competing on Celebrity Jeopardy! multiple times. I was shouting at the TV not to do it, and of course, the 'Toxic' singer got the majority of the poll responses (rather than Houston), handing the Whose Line Is It Anyway? hosts a quick exit. Jimmy Kimmel joked that he blamed the audience for leading them astray, but Drew Carey recognized their mistake, saying: I think we talked them into it. I'm so glad Ken Jennings and Matt Damon didn't follow suit. As for whether they took home the million, we'll have to wait and see. The episode ended ahead of their $500,000 attempt, so tune in when Who Wants to Be a Millionaire returns at 8 p.m. ET Wednesday, July 30, on ABC. I'm just hoping that future contestants are paying attention and will follow Ken Jennings' Millionaire strategy.

41 years later, the movie sequel I've always wanted is looking like a comedy masterpiece

Quick Summary One of the greatest comedies of the 1980s is finally getting a sequel, with Spinal Tap II: The End Continues hitting cinemas this September. We can now see what to expect too, with a few production stills having been released by the studio. If you're of a certain age, there are a handful of comedy movies made in the 80s that were absolute must-sees (usually on VHS). Airplane, The Blues Brothers, The Naked Gun and Spaceballs near the top of that list for sure. However, there's another that's arguably even more fondly remembered. This is Spinal Tap was released in 1984 and almost instantly became a cult hit. Directed by Rob Reiner (When Harry Met Sally, A Few Good Men), its mockumentary style and exemplary performances by Christopher Guest (Saturday Night Live), Michael McKean (Better Call Saul) and Harry Shearer (The Simpsons) made stars of the cast and even enabled them to go on tour as the fictional band they portrayed. Even today I laugh whenever I drive past Stonehenge, and was turned into a giddy mess when visiting Marshall's UK headquarters where I saw and touched the actual fabled amp that goes up to 11. So the fact that, 41 years later, the trio are back (along with their 12th drummer) is the stuff of dreams. And newly released images of the movie give me hope that it'll be everything I've hoped for. Image 1 of 3 Image 2 of 3 Image 3 of 3 Spinal Tap II: The End Continues will be released in cinemas on 12 September 2025 and reunites the main cast with Reiner. It once again focuses on the band as they get back together for one final concert before permanent retirement. Cue the hilarity once more. We're yet to see a full trailer (beyond a brief teaser released earlier this year), but the images show at least one extra special guest will be joining Tap on stage – Elton John. There are also some visible nods back to the original, with the crowd in one shot holding up their homemade 'Henges. I cannot wait and will certainly be watching the first film again in preparation. Thankfully, it's also been remastered in 4K HDR for a new release. So if like me you fancy a trip back in time, or you've never seen it before, you can catch the new version of This is Spinal Tap on the likes of Amazon Prime Video and Apple TV – having been released in the US this week and hopefully elsewhere soon. I guarantee a fair few laughs ahead.
