Paul Ince: Former Manchester United and Liverpool footballer charged with drink driving
Former Manchester United, Liverpool and England footballer Paul Ince has been charged with drink driving.
Cheshire Police said officers were called out around 5pm on Saturday to Chester High Road in Neston.
"The incident involved a black Range Rover which had collided with the central reservation barrier," said a statement.
"Officers attended the scene and arrested a 57-year-old man. Paul Ince, of Quarry Road, Neston, has since been charged with drink driving."
Ince has been bailed to appear at Chester Magistrates' Court on 18 July.
As well as more than 200 games for Manchester United in the early to mid 1990s, he also played for West Ham, Wolves and Inter Milan.
Ince became the first black footballer to captain England when he took the armband in a game against the USA in 1993 - just a year after his senior debut.
He led the national side seven times in total.
The London-born player moved into management with Macclesfield Town in 2006 and was most recently in charge of Championship side Reading from 2022 to 2023.

New inquest date set into wife murdered in street
A further inquest hearing into the death of a woman who was murdered by her husband in Bradford city centre has been set. Habibur Masum, 26, repeatedly stabbed 27-year-old Kulsuma Akter after confronting her while she pushed their seven-month-old son in a pram on 6 April 2024. Masum was found guilty of her murder on Friday after a three-week trial at Bradford Crown Court. The inquest into his wife's death opened on 12 April 2024 but was suspended until the criminal proceedings concluded. At Bradford Coroner's Court on Monday, assistant coroner Angela Brocklehurst set a new hearing date of 29 July. Ms Brocklehurst said that due to "the wishes of the family of the deceased" the new hearing would take place "for further consideration". Masum, of Leamington Avenue in Burnley, had pleaded guilty to manslaughter and possession of a bladed article but was convicted of murder after a trial. He was also convicted of one count of assault by beating, making a threat to kill and stalking. Ms Akter had been living in a refuge in the city since January after Masum held a knife to her throat at their home in Oldham. Masum later confronted her in the city centre having tracked her through her phone location. He pulled a knife from his jacket and stabbed her more than 25 times after she refused to go with him. Woman found dead after 'falling from building' in Manchester city centre
Police are investigating after the body of a woman was found on a major city centre street in Manchester. Emergency services were called to Great Ancoats Street at around 7am on Monday (June 30) following reports the body of a woman had been found. An area around the Leonardo Hotel and Victoria House apartments has been cordoned off, with a police block in place around a small space. GMP said it appears the woman had fallen from a building, but an investigation had been launched. Family of boy, 13, found dead after river search thank emergency services
The family of a 13-year-old boy whose body was found after he was suspected of going in the River Tees have thanked the emergency services for their efforts. Mylo Capilla's body was found on Friday in the Ingleby Barwick area of Teesside following a major operation by Cleveland Police, fire crews and Cleveland Mountain Rescue. He had been last seen with a friend going into the Tees at an area known locally as the Muddies at around 9pm on Thursday. His body has since been formally identified. In a statement, his family said: 'Following the tragic loss of our beloved son Mylo, we, as a family, wish to express our sincere gratitude to the community for their overwhelming support. 'We would also like to thank Cleveland Police and all the partner agencies who assisted in the search for him. 'We will forever be thankful for their service. 'If anyone would like to pay their respects to Mylo, please do so by attending St Francis of Assisi Church in Ingleby Barwick.'
