Justin Hartley and Wife Sofia Pernas Celebrate Season 3 of ‘Tracker' With Sweet Date Night
Hartley, 48, and Pernas, 35, were all smiles while posing at the blue carpet during CBS Fest on Wednesday, May 7. The couple also reunited with their Tracker costar Fiona Rene, who plays another one of Hartley's love interests on the show.
The outing took place at the Paramount Studios lot in Los Angeles where CBS announced its schedule for the 2025-2026 primetime lineup. In addition to Tracker, the roster included one new comedy, four action-packed dramas, three unscripted series, 17 returning shows, sports and special event programming.
Tracker is currently CBS' biggest success story with Nielsen reporting that Tracker came at No. 1 while averaging 10.84 million viewers per episode. The show, which premiered in February 2024, follows Hartley as Colter Shaw, a lone-wolf survivalist who solves missing persons cases.
Justin Hartley and Wife Sofia Pernas' Sweetest Quotes About Working Together on 'Tracker' and More
As the star and executive producer on the series, Hartley has been able to bring in some familiar faces — including his wife. Pernas was introduced as Colter's nemesis who has since crossed paths with him multiple times as they continue to grow closer.
"It's so funny when you're in this business for as long as I've been in it, and I didn't realize it until Tracker, really? I'm like, 'S*** I've been around.' You develop all these relationships and you can call on friends who otherwise wouldn't do these things," Hartley told TV Insider in February about the show's star-studded guest stars. "And you get all these really wonderful people that come on. You'll see some really familiar faces, some really big TV names, familiar faces come on and just do stellar work on our show. It elevates the show. I just think it's wonderful that we're able to do that."
Hartley first worked with Pernas on The Young and The Restless in 2015. Years later, they reconnected off screen and exchanged vows in 2021. Along with Tracker, they collaborated on the short-lived Quantum Leap reboot.
'She's wonderful. I mean, if I had my choice, I'd spend every minute with her," Hartley gushed to Us Weekly in July 2024. "What's really cool is when you meet someone that means so much to you, that you're so proud to be with and so proud of, and just such a fan of, and to get to see her work, because she's such a talented actor. She elevates scenes, and so it makes my job easier, actually. But yeah, it's just wonderful to work with her.'
Every Time Justin Hartley and Wife Sofia Pernas Shared the Screen: From 'Quantum Leap' to 'Tracker'
Hartley has opened up about getting the chance to collaborate with Pernas, telling USA Today in March, "I enjoy being around her. I'm having the time of my life with this show. I love it. To be able to share it with the people you love makes it even better."
According to Hartley, it didn't require much work to get Pernas to appear on Tracker.
"Obviously, I got her because I live with her," he quipped on an October 2024 episode of Max's Who's Talking to Chris Wallace? "It's not even a phone call."
He added: "It's like, 'Hey, babe. Come on, we're going to work.' But that's fun when you can work with people that you love. ... It's great. It's great having her. She's a light and we get the greatest guest stars on our show."
Tracker returns to CBS Sundays in the fall and is currently streaming on Paramount+.

'Love Island USA' star Elan's brother is running his Instagram. He told us he's 'not doing this for the clout.'
Elan Bibas entered the "Love Island USA" villa with a disadvantage: He was added late, as part of a group of hunks sent to stir things up. But he also has an advantage: his younger brother, Tal, who's running his social media while Elan's on the show. I talked to Tal about his experience running Elan's social accounts and the business opportunities that have presented themselves since his brother's time on the huge summer hit for Peacock. (It was the No. 2 most watched original streaming show during its first two weeks, Nielsen said.) Contestants on the show — and if you haven't watched, I must recommend it as great summer fun! — compete to find love, or share part of the $100,000 prize with their partner. Appearing on the show can also be a big business opportunity. Fan favorites from past seasons have gone on to success as influencers with lucrative brand deals or other entertainment appearances. Cast members from last season will reunite for a new show, "Beyond the Villa," starting later this month. As my colleague Callie Ahlgrim observed, the spectre of social media looms large: "The islanders seem hyper-aware of their role as entertainers and competitors, much too preoccupied with how they're being perceived by an invisible audience to be truly honest and vulnerable with each other." Contestants have to give up their phones during their time on the show, which airs five nights a week in near real-time, so some of them have entrusted family or friends to run their social media accounts for that time. Cierra Ortega, an early fan favorite, has her friend MJ Hedderman running her Instagram, who's been delighting fans with her funny perspective and long captions. Business Insider talked to Tal Bibas, 22, who lives in London and has been posting to his older brother Elan's Instagram and TikTok accounts. Elan, 24, grew up in the suburbs of Toronto and now lives in Miami and works in tech. So far, Tal's strategy for managing his brother's Instagram has seemed to work. Elan's followers have gone up from about 3,000 to 63,000 since he first appeared on the show a week and a half ago. This interview has been condensed and edited for clarity. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Elan Bibas (@ Were you surprised when Elan told you that he was going to be a contestant on "Love Island?" One hundred percent. I think it was a shock to us all. Elan's a very smart guy — it's hard to see that on TV, but he's almost like a nerd. He's always been a super academic guy and always top-of-his-class. He got out of university, did computer science and engineering and entrepreneurship, came out with a job at a consultancy, a tech consultancy, helping them code and advise. He was doing really well with that. I think he hit a ceiling in Toronto and was really craving to move to a new city. Obviously, Miami comes with the beautiful weather, so that's what moved him there. In the past few years, he's just got this virus to want to do these crazy ultramarathons and running. He formed a community of people in Miami doing that kind of stuff, and a lot of them are content creators within the health and wellness niche. He found that that was quite cool, and he's like, You know what? Wow, maybe I should start doing this a bit. So shortly before he got approached to be on the show, he started doing a bit of content around health and wellness, running, self-improvement — things along those lines. I wouldn't say he had any viral posts or anything like that. Then he honestly just got DMed by a casting director, and that's kind of how this whole thing happened. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Elan Bibas (@ So the casting team reached out to him. He didn't apply to be on the show? Exactly. Oh, that's interesting. I didn't realize that's how the casting works. In terms of his day job, obviously, it's hard to take a month or two off to go shoot a reality show. What's the status of his job? His work seemed to be quite fine with it. They basically said, "You can definitely take on this opportunity, but take all paid time off first, and then everything after that would be unpaid leave." Knowing your brother, what's your reaction to what's happening on the show? At first, when I saw him on, I was excited, but I had that weird feeling where it's just like, "Oh my God, you never know how the public's going to perceive someone on TV." Honestly, I was quite surprised by how comfortable he seemed. I thought maybe he would sound a bit different or move in a different way. Right now, the way he's acting inside the villa is the exact same way he acts in real life. Cast members build big social followings during the show, which can lead to all sorts of lucrative opportunities. When Elan asked you to manage his socials, was that something very much at the top of your mind? I think Elan is not doing this for the clout or fame. Honestly, that's the last thing on his mind. He loves saying "yes" to opportunities. For him, it's all about going through this, living through this experience, and just having this bucket-list, once-in-a-lifetime experience to be able to say he did this thing. And through that, to form connections, build relationships, and meet a lot of cool people. Elan basically said, "Here's my login details. Do your best to keep things positive and have fun with it. Mostly just let it ride and just see how it goes." I guess I have my own strategy for how I want to manage his Instagram. I don't think he knows exactly that. I definitely see this as not just a business opportunity, but a way to help my brother out. I want to do the most I can to post good content, engage with the audience, and leave him in the best spot for when he comes out to have that seamless transaction of "OK, guys, he's back." And it's kind of that exact brand and audience that he's known for. I was studying a lot of the old contestants and seeing what their experiences were via their social presence, and so I was learning quite a lot from just looking at that. I do have a background also in digital marketing and social media. I worked as an intern at a big influencer-marketing agency in Toronto, so I kind of understand the nuances of how the industry works — I just never thought it would be my brother. It's been an interesting learning curve. Have you been approached by brands or business opportunities for him? How are you fielding these incoming things? I made a separate email account for him for his social accounts. There's a lot of random stuff coming in there. Going through it and figuring out what's legit and what's not takes time. I want to make this process as seamless as possible for Elan so that when he comes out I can say, "Look, I was taking care of everything when you were gone. This is what happened. We've got these brands, these people approaching you for these opportunities," and just go through it with him and see what is the priority right now, what makes the most sense. I wouldn't say there's a long list of brands, but there are talent agencies that want to represent him.

‘Back to the Future' turns 40 — and the first actor to play Marty McFly was fired: ‘It was devastating'
Forty years ago, moviegoers were almost shouting, 'Great Stoltz!' That's because 'Back to the Future,' the science-fiction classic that hit theaters on July 3, 1985, nearly starred a very different actor than Michael J. Fox. The poor guy even shot scenes. Advertisement 5 Eric Stoltz was the first actor to play Marty McFly in 'Back to the Future' before being fired and replaced with Michael J. Fox. Paramount Pictures The first man to don the orange puffer vest as unwitting teen time traveler Marty McFly was Eric Stoltz, then the star of 'Fast Times at Ridgemont High,' 'The Wild Life' and 'The New Kids.' But he was ultimately denied the keys to the DeLorean. Advertisement 'The director fired me,' Stoltz, now 63, said in a 1993 interview with Bob Costas. 'He didn't like my work.' The stung actor added, 'It was devastating to me.' From the offset, director Robert Zemeckis, who had notched a hit in 'Romancing the Stone' with Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner, and producer Steven Spielberg craved Fox for the part. The 23-year-old had turned into a huge national TV star playing precocious Alex P. Keaton on the NBC sitcom 'Family Ties,' which began in 1982. By 1985, it was No. 2 in the Nielsen ratings. Advertisement He was made for Marty. But when 'Ties' creator and showrunner Gary David Goldberg was approached by Spielberg and Zemeckis about Fox doing the film, the TV bigwig was firm. 5 Michael J. Fox was a superstar playing Alex P. Keaton on 'Family Ties.' Getty Images 'He said, 'I can't let him do it,'' Fox recalled in a 2001 interview with the Archive of American Television. Advertisement 'And he said, you know, 'Please don't tell Michael — not that I want him to think I did something behind his back, but I really had no other choice.'' So, the Hollywood duo instead went with another 23-year-old — Stoltz. But, talented though he was, the actor struggled with the funny Californian for more than a month of production. 'Eric had such an intensity. He saw drama in things. He wasn't really a comedian, and they needed a comedian,' co-star Lea Thompson said in the book 'We Don't Need Roads: The Making of the Back to the Future Trilogy.' 'He's super-funny in real life, but he didn't approach his work like that, and they really needed somebody who had those chops.' 5 Stoltz was a terrific actor, but approached the role of Marty too seriously Getty Images Fox diplomatically agrees. 'There's a certain goofiness to [Marty] that I don't think Eric was really ready to embrace,' he said in 2001. Advertisement 'I think there was a silliness to the role that they kind of pictured me for.' Concerned with 'Future''s future, Zemeckis and Spielberg went back to Goldberg, who finally agreed to let his superstar do the project. Now the bad new had to be broken to Stoltz. On Jan. 10, 1985, Zemeckis axed his leading man. Advertisement 'I was a young actor,' Stoltz recalled to Costas. 'It was probably the worst thing that can happen to you in your career.' In a later interview with George Stephanopolous, the 'Forrest Gump' director felt mutually horrible. He also called the sacking 'the worst experience of my career.' 'Eric is a brilliant actor,' Zemeckis added. 'I simply miscast him and I learned a very serious lesson. It's not worth it. It's too painful for everybody. What you have to do is cast the movie the right way and feel really right about it.' Advertisement 5 Eventually the creator of 'Family Ties' allowed Fox to do the movie — while also filming the hit TV show. ©Universal/Courtesy Everett Collection So, Fox was ready to team up with Christopher Lloyd's Doc Brown to battle with Biff. But stepping in just a few months before release wasn't so simple. The shift added an estimated $3 to $4 million to the movie's budget. And Fox had to continue filming 'Family Ties' at the same time. Advertisement 'Within a week, I was doing both jobs,' Fox said. 'I would do 'Family Ties' in the daytime and I'd do 'Back to the Future' at night. And I was working 18, 19, 20 hours.' He added: 'By the time 'Back to the Future' came out in the summer of '85, there were whole scenes I can't remember shooting because I was so tired during so much of it.' The long, hard days paid off. What was hardly a surefire hit when filming began became a phenomenon, grossing $385 million worldwide, led to two more movies and even inspired a Broadway musical. 5 Stoltz has enjoyed a long career in Hollywood since the dustup. Getty Images for TCM Stoltz's Hollywood career wasn't over either. He received a 1986 Golden Globe nomination for director Peter Bogdanovich's movie 'Mask.' And he's appeared in films such as 'Pulp Fiction,' 'Jerry Maguire' and 'The Butterfly Effect,' and on TV series including 'Grey's Anatomy' and 'Madam Secretary.' Stoltz is also a prolific television director. And since that tough experience, Fox and Stoltz have become unlikely pals. 'It was a wonderful actor — great actor — who since has become a friend of mine and someone I've had a good time with, talking about this turn in our lives and how we both ended up in different places,' Fox said during a 2025 'Back to the Future' panel at the Calgary Expo. 'I've learned a lot about acceptance and perseverance from him. He's a great guy, Eric Stoltz.'

‘Beyond the Gates' Unnerves Fans With Week Of Reruns; Originals To Return July 7
The good news is that Beyond the Gates has already created a rabid fan base. The bad news is that those fans don't appreciate a break in their stories. After five months of airing originals, CBS put the the sudser in repeats for the July 4 holiday week. At least the network didn't air any old reruns from the first daytime sudser to focus on a Black family; CBS chose to repeat the first five episodes from Gate's launch week in February. More from Deadline 'Beyond The Gates' Renewed For Second Season By CBS 'Beyond The Gates' Casts Tide & Febreze In Recurring Roles 'To Set The Vibe' 'Beyond The Gates' Unveils First Look At Keith D. Robinson As Ted In CBS Soap Given the evolving landscape in broadcast TV, not to mention the challenges of launching a soap these days, it's not particularly surprising that CBS would put the show into repeats. But week-long breaks are not exactly common for daytime dramas unless we're in the throes of a pandemic. Typically, the sudsers only break for a day. (The network declined comment). Creator Michele Val Jean has tried to be a voice of calm for fans on X. Before the week began, she wrote 'to those asking: preemption-rerun decisions are made way above my pay grae so no insight into that. The good news is the upcoming reruns are premiere week so those of you who missed it can catch up with how it all began.' A day later, Val Jean added, 'just want to say to our #BeyondTheGates peeps, I love your passion for the show. And I thank you for it.' On Wednesday, star Brandon Claybon (Martin Richardson) continued with, 'I know yall are upset. But enjoy the holiday week … we'll be back in no time!!' Anyone suffering significant withdrawals can find relief at tomorrow's Essence Fest, where popular stars Tamara Tunie (Anita Dupree) and Karla Mosley (Dani Dupree) will join EP Sheila Ducksworth for a panel discussion. And the sudser that follows attractive richies who live inside a fictional gated community called Fairmont Crest has already received a season 2 pickup.
