Army foil infiltration attempts on northern, eastern borders
In the Northern Military Zone, border units apprehended an individual attempting to illegally cross the border, who was transferred to the relevant authorities for further investigation, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Also on Friday, Border Guard forces in the Eastern Military Zone detected a group of armed individuals attempting to infiltrate Jordanian territory from the Syrian border. Upon engagement, the rules of engagement were applied, leading to a brief exchange of fire.
Two members of the group were killed during the confrontation, while the remaining individuals retreated back into Syrian territory, according to Petra.
