Jonathan Joss, ‘King of the Hill' Voice Actor, Fatally Shot at 59
During a dispute, Joss was shot and killed by a neighbor on Sunday night in San Antonio, Texas, said authorities. According to The New York Times, the neighbor was identified by investigators as Sigfredo Ceja Alvarez, who was taken into custody and charged with murder.

According to a statement shared on Joss' Facebook account by his husband, Tristan Kern de Gonzales, the couple had returned to the site of their former home, which had been damaged in a fire, to check on their mail. They were approached by a man who began yelling homophobic slurs and fired his gun, said de Gonzales. 'Jonathan and I had no weapons. We were not threatening anyone,' said de Gonzales. 'We were standing side by side. When the man fired Jonathan pushed me out of the way. He saved my life.'
Joss and de Gonzales married earlier this year on Valentine's Day. In a text message to The Associated Press, de Gonzales wrote, 'He was murdered.'
Joss was found near the street by officers, and paramedics pronounced him dead when they arrived, according to The Times.
The San Antonio Police Department did not immediately respond to Rolling Stone's request for comment.
Joss was best known for his distinct voice playing Redcorn, a Native American character on King of the Hill, which ran for 13 seasons from 1997 to 2008. The series will return to the small screen 15 years after it ended its original run and Hulu will debut Season 14 of King of the Hill in August. It's unclear if Joss will be featured in the revival. A rep for Mike Judge did not immediately return Rolling Stone's request for comment.
Joss also featured in a recurring role on the popular television show Parks and Recreation as Chief Ken Hotate. He has also appeared in Tulsa King, Ray Donovan, True Grit, and The Magnificent Seven.
Before his death, Joss posted a video on Instagram as he shared his excitement about the beloved series' return, saying that the 'reboot is up and moving' and invited fans to meet him at a comic shop in Austin, Texas, and take photos for free. When walking around the shop and discussing his character in the new series (his role in the next season has not yet been confirmed), Joss mused about the idea of 'expiration dates.'
'We have them, man, life and death. Sometimes we have a talent, a desire. Sometimes you get put on a shelf,' he said. 'If you're canned and you put on the shelf, expiration date is like forever. Be a can of whoop ass when you get on that shelf. Think about moving forward. Think about being a can with an amazing expiration date. So, even if they put you on the shelf, man, when you come out of that can, you're fresh.'

The New York Times published a scathing report Saturday that said when Donald Trump hosted a calendar girls competition at Mar-a-Lago in 1993, there was only one other guest: Jeffrey Epstein. George Houraney, a Florida businessman who arranged the event, told the Times in 2019 he was surprised when he saw the guest list. The New York Times' report published Saturday details the friendship between the two men, dating back to 1990 when they first met. The two had a falling out in 2004 after they both wanted a piece of real estate. But in the 20-plus years in between, the two men socialized together in both New York and Florida at parties, including a Victoria's Secret 'Angels' party and a party with NFL cheerleaders. In 2002, Trump told New York Magazine that Epstein was a 'terrific guy.' 'I've known Jeff for 15 years. Terrific guy,' Trump said. 'He's a lot of fun to be with. It is even said that he likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side. No doubt about it — Jeffrey enjoys his social life.' The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment, but White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt told the Times that Trump had banned Epstein from his Mar-a-Lago club 'for being a creep.' 'These stories are tired and pathetic attempts to distract from all the success of President Trump's administration,' Leavitt said. Trump approval rating drops in new poll; more Americans oppose immigration policies
A new poll found that support for President Donald Trump's immigration policies is falling, with stark differences among Republicans and Democrats on deportations and the use of detention facilities. The poll, released July 20 by CBS/YouGov, found that immigration is the top issue respondents said swayed their opinion of the president's job performance, with 61% saying immigration and deportation policies "mattered a lot," followed by inflation and the economy. Overall, the poll puts Trump's approval rating at 42%, with disapproval at 58%. The survey previously found Trump's approval rating was 45% in June and 47% in mid-April. In contrast, the second-term president's aggregate approval ratings from The New York Times and Real Clear Politics show a 44% and 45.5% approval, respectively, and a 53% and 52% disapproval. The new survey's findings come just a few days after Trump's approval numbers on immigration hit an all-time low since the start of his second term in a Reuters/Ipsos poll, conducted between July 15 and July 16. Approximately 41% of Americans approved of the administration's immigration stances, while 51% disapproved. Among the 2,343 U.S. adult respondents in the CBS poll, 56% said they disapprove of the way the president is handling immigration, while 44% said they approve. That's a ten-point drop from when pollsters asked the same question at the beginning of the president's second term in February, the outlet reports, when 54% approved and 46% disapproved. The poll also specifically asked respondents about the administration's efforts to deport immigrants they say are in the U.S. illegally. Support for the push has also dropped ten points since February, with a majority now against the policies. Less than half − 49% − of respondents said they approved of the deportations in the July survey, compared to 59% in the results from February. "Approval of the deportation program has slipped over these months to become slightly net-negative now, with support becoming more exclusively drawn from Republicans and MAGA identifiers," CBS said upon release of the results on Sunday. The differences in support for Trump's immigration policies is split among party lines. Nearly all Republicans surveyed − 91% − say they approve of the president's deportation program. Among Democrats, 14% say they approve, while a majority – 86% – disapproved. Among independents, 59% were against the deportations and 41% were for them. The administration's use of detention facilities, like its deportation efforts, saw similar results in the July poll, with 58% disapproving and 42% approving of their use. Support was also drawn across party lines, with 85% of Republicans approving of the detention facilities, compared to 15% of Democrats. The poll was conducted between July 16-18. Zohran Mamdani takes family trip to Uganda
Mamdani, who was born and raised in Kampala, is a dual citizen of Uganda and the U.S., according to The New York Times . His father's side of the family belongs to a community of East Africans that have lived in the region for generations and are originally from the Indian state of Gujarat. After Uganda, Mamdani moved with his family to South Africa and then finally to New York at the age of seven. Mamdani said he would be back in the city by the end of the month. He was legally married to his wife Rama Duwaji in New York City in February. The two also celebrated their marriage in Dubai in December. The mayoral nominee's announcement of the overseas trip comes after the candidate told voters, 'I would stay in New York City' when he was asked in the first primary debate what his first international trip would be as mayor. 'My plans are to address New Yorkers across the five boroughs and focus on that,' Mamdani said. He was one of the only candidates on the stage to say he would not visit Israel as mayor. He has also said he wasn't sure if Israel would allow him entry given his history of supporting an economic boycott of the country in response to its treatment of Palestinians. Mamdani identifies as Ugandan and was naturalized as a U.S. citizen in 2018. One right-leaning House Republican has called for an investigation into his naturalization proceedings, and President Donald Trump said earlier this month that he would look into whether Mamdani is 'here illegally.' In the video, the Democratic mayoral nominee sarcastically described the trip as a response to xenophobic comments on social media telling him to 'go back to Africa.' 'Being a politician means listening, not just to your supporters, but your critics, too,' Mamdani says in the video. 'And some of these critics, especially on a certain website, have been giving me consistent advice.'
