JioHotstar tops March OTT charts on mobile for films, series: Nielsen
Pan-India action film Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire, streaming on JioHotstar, led the top 10 chart for movies in March in India. It was followed by Dragon, a Tamil-language comedy-drama on Netflix, according to Nielsen, a global leader in audience measurement, data, and analytics, in its report titled Mobile Audience Measurement for March 2025. These insights are based on mobile OTT viewing across six leading platforms—Amazon Prime Video, JioHotstar, MX Player, Netflix, Sony LIV, and Zee5.
'Aashram on MX Player and Thukra Ke Mera Pyaar on JioHotstar led the original series chart,' the report stated.
In this category as well, JioHotstar had six titles among the top 10 original series for March.
In the non-original segment, JioHotstar ranked among the top three platforms with popular shows such as reality series MTV Roadies and Hindi television dramas Anupamaa and Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai. In total, eight JioHotstar titles featured in the top 10 non-original content chart.
'Audiences also showed growing enthusiasm for global content, with international hits like Game of Thrones and Stranger Things continuing to attract Indian viewers. Notably, there was a visible rise in watch time for Korean (K) dramas—When Life Gives You Tangerines (on Netflix) being a standout example—highlighting the growing appetite for K-content in India,' the report said.

Ability Foundation to host disability film fest from July 7 to 10
A national cross-disability NGO, Ability Foundation, is set to host its ninth edition 'AbilityFEST 2025-India International Disability Film Festival' from July 7 to 10 at PVR-INOX Sathyam Cinemas in the city. The festival will also screen shortlisted films on disability inclusion from the competition, '60 seconds to Fame-All India One Minute Film Competition on Disability'. Festival chairperson actor-director Revathy said the competition received entries from all over the country, and the films featured in the festival represent 11 countries. 'Our focus is on films made by people with disabilities, about people with disabilities, essentially through the eyes of what the world could be when it is inclusive,' Ms. Revathy said. 'Being a jury member of this film festival, you understand what society is, where we are, where the people are, and what their thought process is,' said composer A.R. Rahman, Chair of the jury. Actor Simran in the jury panel added: 'To express everything in 60 seconds is a difficult job, and all the one-minute films we received were inspiring and motivational to me.' Over the four days, the festival will screen a number of award-winning short films, documentaries, and features from around the world. The Tamil film Tourist Family will be screened with audio description for the blind, alongside Hindi films Ahaan and Sitaare Zameen Par. International titles will include films from Italy, the Netherlands, Mongolia, the U.K., Iran, the U.S., and Poland. 'People with disabilities are not suffering or unfortunate. They are living their lives the way they should be living. AbilityFEST is an important part of what we do to bring this message to the public,' said Jayshree Raveendran, festival director. Lyricist and screenwriter Madhan Karky spoke about how the one-minute short films came with a lot of emotion. Other jury members, international para swimmer Mohammad Shams Aalam Shaikh, life coach and fitness consultant Tinkesh also spoke. All screenings are free with four shows daily. Allu Arjun and Prashanth Neel are soon set to join hands for the first time with the movie Ravanam. While the project was confirmed by producer Dil Raju, a new buzz indicates an interesting storyline for the film. Allu Arjun starrer Ravanam's story revealed? As per an ongoing buzz shared by cinephile Mohammed Ihsan on X (formerly Twitter), the movie is expected to feature the story of Ravana's rebirth. The bold concept focuses on what happened to the demon king after his death and the transport of his soul. In a parallel universe, Ravana is reborn as a feared underworld gangster who rules his kingdom from the shadows. However, as of now, this is just a rumor with an official confirmation yet to be made by the makers. For those unaware, producer Dil Raju recently confirmed that the project will take place under his banner and will begin after the actor and director complete their ongoing projects. As per his words at the Thammudu pre-release event, the Game Changer producer said, 'Our banner has planned a film titled Ravanam with Allu Arjun as the lead and Prashanth Neel as the director. However, the project will take time as both of them are currently busy with their existing commitments.' Interestingly, the same project was once rumored to be headlined by Prabhas but has undergone a casting change. Allu Arjun and Prashanth Neel's work front Allu Arjun is in the making of his movie AA22xA6, with director Atlee. The film, touted to be of a 'parallel universe' genre, is said to have heavy VFX elements. Deepika Padukone will be playing one of the lead roles in the film, with a total of 5 different heroines expected to feature in it. This further leads to names of actresses like Janhvi Kapoor and Mrunal Thakur making the headlines. The much-awaited magnum opus venture is likely to have Allu Arjun in multiple roles, including an animated version. On the other hand, Prashanth Neel is currently involved in the works of the tentatively titled NTRNEEL (Dragon). The upcoming movie is slated to release on June 25, 2026, with Jr NTR headlining the project. While more details about its casting are yet to be made by the makers, Sapta Sagaradaache Ello starrer Rukmini Vasanth is likely to play the female lead, with Tovino Thomas rumored to be in a supporting role.
