Actor who plays Jesus on TV's 'The Chosen' visits the Vatican
Jonathan Roumie, star of the streaming series "The Chosen" about the life of Jesus Christ, spoke at an event ahead of a special Vatican screening of an episode from the fifth season of the show, which will release internationally in July.
Roumie was joined by fellow cast members Elizabeth Tabish, George Xanthis, and Vanessa Benavente, who respectively play Mary Magdalene, St. John the Apostle, and Mary, the Mother of God.
"Coming to the Vatican is always an honour," Roumie, a practicing Christian, told Reuters. "The possibility of getting to meet the newest pontiff is extraordinary."
"The Chosen" is a historical drama that follows the life of Jesus Christ – from gathering disciples to his ultimate persecution at the hands of the Roman empire.
Season 5 includes Jesus's last supper with his disciples and many of the renowned biblical events just before his death.
The cast came to the Vatican a day after wrapping up three weeks of shooting for the sixth season of the show which will portray the crucifixion, an episode filmed in the southern Italian town of Matera.
One of the world's oldest continuous human settlements, with stone houses cut from surrounding cliffs, some of which have been occupied for millennia, Matera stood in for Jerusalem.
U.S. filmmaker Mel Gibson also used the Italian town for his 2004 movie about the crucifixion, The Passion of the Christ.
Roumie and the other cast members are set to meet Leo, the first U.S. pontiff, during the pope's general audience in St. Peter's Square on Wednesday.

Chromatic Renaissance album review – Exaudi negotiate these writhing lines with exemplary precision
'Chromaticism is a rare and exotic bloom in Western music,' writes Exaudi's director James Weeks in his wonderfully comprehensive essay in his group's disc of late 16th-century choral works. 'It flowers only when conditions allow: when a harmonic theory exists which can accommodate it, and more importantly when composers desire to use it to increase the emotional expressiveness of their music.' Exaudi's exploration of the power of chromaticism begins with the high renaissance settings of Orlando di Lasso – his motet Timor et Tremor and six of the cycle of 12 motets that make up his Prophetiae Sibyllarum. It then moves through settings of more unfamiliar composers such as Vicente Lusitano and Nicola Vicentino to end with Marenzio and Luzzaschi, whose madrigals – settings of Petrarch and a section of Dante's Inferno respectively – seem to be poised on the cusp between the renaissance and the early baroque. It's music that was composed in the same period as Gesualdo's much better known madrigals, which sometimes use chromaticism and dissonance to even more spectacular effect. Yet the writhing, convoluted lines of these pieces, negotiated with exemplary precision and clarity by the seven singers of Exaudi, their voices perfectly matched and balanced, carry their own expressive power. This is a disc that becomes more fascinating and involving the more you listen to it.

Serie A side accidentally include fan's VERY X-rated tattoo in official kit launch shot on London housing estate
SERIE A side Genoa had a nightmare when released their new away kit without noticing one of the kit models' very explicit tattoo. The launch included a video filmed in London, as well as a series of promotional images featuring models posing in the new kit. The tattoo, spotted by keen-eyed fans on one of the models' left leg in one of the promotional images, appears to feature two people engaged in a sex act. The image was quickly deleted by the club when fans started talking about the unfortunate oversight. One account re-posted the image on X with the caption "Interesting leg tattoo, that", garnering over 30,000 likes. Another asked: "How did the media team not catch that?" The kit itself is predominantly white and red and is based on the St George's Cross and its historic symbolism with the club. The cross is a symbol of the city of Genoa, and appears both on the city's coat of arms and Genoa CFC's club badge. The launch video, filmed in London, celebrates the English roots of the side, which is the oldest football club in Italy. It was originally formed as a cricket and football club by English sailors in 1893. 4 4 The video's narration reads: "In 1983, a bunch of English lads rocked up with a cricket bat and a football, changing the game forever. "Born by the port, shaped by the sea, carried by Genovese pride, they cross-walked straight onto the pitch." The video heavily features the Kirby estate in Bermondsey, known as the 'most patriotic estate' in London for its prominent displays of the St. George's cross. Another location in the video is Hackney's Spensley walk, featured in honour of James Richardson Spensley, who championed the footballing division of the sports club in 1897, and is known as a founding father of football in Italy. The club are no strangers to kit launch shenanigans- they unveiled an all-black third kit in November last year through a launch video featuring WWE legend the Undertaker.

Jessica Alves, 42, finds love with 'charming' German engineer after meeting on a plane as they enjoy romantic Italian boat ride
Jessica Alves has found love with a German engineer and have been going from strength to strength after the pair met on a plane in December. The Brazilian TV star, 42, was swept off her feet when the engineer sat next to her on the flight to join her for drinks. The couple felt something really special between them after hitting it off straight away. The lovebirds are currently enjoying a romantic trip in Capri, Italy to celebrate their eight month anniversary and her birthday on Wednesday. Jessica showcased her surgically-enhanced assets in a chic white dress as she struck a pose against the picturesque backdrop in the Amalfi Coast. The pair enjoyed a luxury boat trip around Capri to explore the beautiful waters and scenery. The TV personality once estimated that she had spent well over $1million on more than 75 plastic surgery procedures to achieve her looks. Daily Mail revealed in September 2024 that Jessica split from ex-boyfriend Dalton Phillips just a month after the pair sparked engagement rumours. The model ended her relationship with the hunk after the strain of work put pressure on them. The TV star sparked engagement rumours with Dalton in August last year after she was pictured wearing a giant ring on her finger. She has previously opened up about being 'unlucky in love' and had found that men had used her for her riches. The star has a reported net worth of £30million and speaking exclusively to Daily Mail last year, Jessica outlined how her potential suitors have asked for financial help, as well as free holidays and other hefty expenditures. She said, 'I have been going on dates, being a single woman, and it's been very difficult to meet Mr. Right. Men are just so complicated. 'I've had some bad dates where men just wanted to take advantage of me, they just wanted my money and, yeah, they weren't looking for a relationship as such. 'They just wanted commodity so they say, 'Let's travel together. Let's do this together but all on my account.' 'Sometimes they would ask for things. I was dating this guy and he started asking me for financial help. I was like, 'Gosh, p**s off.' Anyway, I haven't been very lucky.' Last year, Jessica revealed she had been left with a gaping hole in the side of her surgically-enhanced bottom after she was stung by a bee. The TV personality was stung on the bottom which later became infected and saw the Brazilian beauty rushed to hospital. At first, the sting merely became swollen but soon a hole developed in the side of Jessica's bottom. The star, who is known for her love of cosmetic surgery, went to The Clinic Club on Harley Street to help smooth out the injury after the infection healed. Speaking to Daily Mail, she said: 'I have 1000cc of hyaluronic acid which was able to even the scars and the imperfections in my bum after the bee sting. 'The professional at The Clinic Club London was very meticulous injecting the gel. He applied some local anesthesia and I was done in 40 minutes. 'The next day, I was resting for 24 hours on my stomach but I could do pretty much everything as normal.' Detailing the injury, Jessica explained: 'I was sunbathing at Ocean Club in Ibiza when I was bitten twice on one cheek two weeks ago. 'A big inflamed lump formed and so I went to hospital to have it drained with a needle before being put on antibiotics. 'I had to fly to Las Vegas for a PA at the Palms hotel where I also had my birthday celebrations with close friends who were able to fly out to join me. 'After few days, the lump came back and it exploded, creating a big hole in my bottom and exposing my implants.' Jessica's bottom implants had to be removed immediately, causing her anguish and feeling fearful because she will be forced to have yet more surgery.
