Chapman revealed that the pair will watch the nation's favourite shows from his sofa
Chapman and Cates were announced as Gary Lineker's Match of the Day replacements in January, with Gabby Logan making up the new-look trio.
But Logan won't be tagging along to Chapman's gaff with Cates for the National Award-winning Channel 4 show on Friday night at 9pm.
Lineker's BBC exit has sparked a battle between his three successors over who will lead the World Cup coverage, SunSport exclusively revealed.
Insiders said that the three also be competing to take the main presenting job for next year's FA Cup Final.

In a video to confirm their appearance on the show, Chapman said: "Hi it's Mark and Kelly here. We are on Gogglebox on Friday and we've never watched telly together, have we?"
To which Cates said while laughing: "No, we've been on telly together but we've never actually watched anything we've done."
And Chapman joked: "I invite Kelly around all the time but she always refuses. She's hit the snacks already. Go on stuff your face."

Luke Littler reveals he's signed up to HUGE reality show alongside YouTuber mate
The Sun revealed that darts sensation and world champion Luke Littler will be pairing up with close pal and popular internet personality, AngryGinge on Friday.
It is yet another foray into the TV world for Luke who has seen his stardom rise over the past 18 months to become one of the country's most talked-about sportsmen.
Olympics and Wimbledon host Clare Balding and her partner Alice will be back on Gogglebox, with reality TV star Jamie Laing pairing up with social media comedian Munya Chawawa.
Meanwhile Lineker, 64, confirmed The Sun's story about his departure — announcing he was leaving the BBC early following an anti-Semitism row.
It scuppered plans for Mark, Gabby and Kelly to have supporting roles alongside him at his swansong during next summer's World Cup in the US, Canada and Mexico.

Steph's dramatic Emmerdale exit story revealed - and it's very soon
Following Georgia Jay's pregnancy announcement, it won't be long until her Emmerdale character temporarily leaves the village. Georgia has played Steph Miligan since November last year. The character is the daughter of Caleb and Ruby Miligan (William Ash and Beth Cordingly). Earlier this year, Steph was part of a dark and heartbreaking storyline that saw her learn the real connection between her and Anthony Fox (Nicholas Day). Mum Ruby revealed to Steph that she was sexually abused by her father Anthony when she was a child. A DNA test then confirmed that the evil man is Steph's biological dad and grandfather. Star Georgia announced her pregnancy back in June. Alongside a picture of her cradling her bump, Georgia wrote on Instagram: 'As you've probably guessed, I've got some news to share! I know some of you have been wondering if you've been seeing a little bump on screen lately… well, it's not your imagination…I'm having a baby!'. She added: 'We've never been so excited and a little nervous all at once. Thank you for all the love and support.' According to The Sun, Georgia's departure scenes as Steph will air in the coming weeks, to tie in with maternity leave. 'Everyone's thrilled for Georgia and can't wait to see her back when she's ready. Steph's exit will happen in the next few weeks and see her flee abroad in typically dramatic fashion', a source told the publication. 'But with Anthony's body still out there, there's a huge storyline still to be wrapped up for when she returns.' Anthony was murdered by Ruby in January. More Trending The character's body was disposed of by John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth); however, in April, Steph made a major discovery. Want to be the first to hear shocking EastEnders spoilers? Is Emmerdale on tonight? ITV soap faces huge schedule shake-up again this week
Soaps are facing yet another schedule shake-up this week, as a Summer of sport continues over on BBC and ITV - but will Emmerdale fans get their Wednesday fix tonight? Emmerdale fans may be left disappointed if they sit down to get their Wednesday fix of the ITV show tonight. The ITV soap usually airs at 7.30pm on Wednesday, however, it's been taken off air again tonight following yet another schedule shake-up. The soap schedule has been all over the place this summer due to a number of huge sporting events - and the schedule continues this week. Tonight, ITV will be broadcasting coverage of the first UEFA Women's Euro semi-final, in which England will be taking on Italy live at the Stade de Genève in Switzerland. Coverage will begin from 7pm and run all the way up until the ITV news at 10.30pm. A win for the Lionesses will take them through to the final, which will take place this Sunday (July 27) and will be held at St. Jakob-Park in Basel. The winner of tonight's semi-final will be facing the winner of tomorrow night's semi-final, which will see Germany take on Spain. The second semi-final will air over on BBC, meaning EastEnders will be taking off air tomorrow night. Although fans are missing out on tonight's episode, Emmerdale will be back in its usual 7.30pm slot tomorrow night and in its one hour slot on Thursday night. The missing Emmerdale episode comes after a highly dramatic episode last night (July 21). On Friday we saw John head to the house of patient Owen, the man who had drugged Robert Sugden just weeks before. John found him lifeless after an apparent overdose, and instead of calling for help he let him die. Before fleeing the scene he wrote a suicide note on Owen's laptop which was a confession to Nate's murder. Last night, a detective told Cain and Tracy Owen was dead with them believing he had taken his own life, leaving his confession before taking an overdose. Of course, fans know that it was all John's doing. However, John went into so much detail in the note, hoping he wouldn't be found out. But will he manage to get away with it? It's set to be a huge week in the Dales next week, spoilers reveal. There's drama in with the Sugdens as Robert continues to look into his mysterious brother John, leading to the latter eyeing up the former as his next target... How long can John get away with his act?

Titled 'This is not normal', the trailer also features Chelsea starboy Cole Palmer and Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes. Gascoigne is regarded as one of the greatest playmakers of his generation, with a stellar club and international career - and he plays an equally crucial role in the broadcaster's advert. Gazza - renowned for his crazy antics both on and off the field - is seen sitting on a sofa next to an eager Paris Saint-Germain fan. Read more in Football 'BEST PLACE FOR HIM' Pal who found Paul Gascoigne collapsed in his bedroom speaks out He hilariously calms down the over-excited fan, who is shown celebrating the French club's recent Champions League triumph throughout the night. Keeping an uncharacteristically straight face, Gazza jokes: "That's not normal, mate". TNT Sports often have an ad filled with football legends ahead of the season - with former Real Madrid ace Gareth Bale appearing once again in the commercial. It comes as the footballing great was rushed to hospital last week after he was discovered collapsed by a pal at his home in Poole, Dorset on Friday evening. Gazza was admitted to an intensive care ward but has now been moved to an acute medical unit where his condition was described as stable. He remains in a hospital near his home, and is expected to stay there for several days for treatment. His friend Steve Foster passed on a message for the Spurs legend and said he was in the "best possible place" as he continues his recovery. Steve said Gazza would 'like to thank everyone for the support he's received so far from so many old friends who wish him well and want to see him back to his best'. England legend Paul Gascoigne rushed to intensive care unit after he was found collapsed at home by pal He added: "Paul is in hospital, which is the best possible place for him to be right now.' Last night, Steve said: 'Paul is stable now but is still very poorly." He has been posing for selfies with fans while he was recovering. His pal added: "It shows how popular and loved he still is by fans everywhere. 'I can't walk down the street with him without him being stopped - it's crazy.' The sad star's plight horrified pal Steve, who found him semi-conscious at 1.30pm on Friday in the bedroom of his home in Poole, Dorset. Gazza was said to have been 'upset' by a disagreement with a business associate and the shutdown of his company, which he launched to run his public appearance business. The much-loved icon's family and football pals rallied round to support him as word spread of the medical emergency - said to be the worst he has faced. His reality star daughter Bianca, his two sisters and ex footballer pals Peter Beardsley, Paul Merson and Vinnie Jones were being kept informed of his condition. Soccer hero Paul - capped 57 times and a scorer of ten goals for the Three Lions between 1988 and 1998 - is expected to remain in hospital 'for some time.' Steve told how Gazza has recently taken to spontaneous acts of kindness to cheer himself up. Days before his collapse, he suddenly decided to help out homeless people he spotted while out walking in Bournemouth near his seaside home. Steve said: 'He suddenly went to a cash machine, drew out £500 and started handing out money to all the homeless people he could find. 'He said there were a lot of people worse off than him and wanted to help them out. He was given away anything between £20 and £50 at a time saying: 'Get yourself a meal.' 'That's the kind of bloke Paul is and why so many people who know him hope he can get well.' Another source close to Gazza told the Sun: 'What happened over the weekend was incredibly serious. 7 The sad star's plight horrified pal Steve, who found him semi-conscious at 1.30pm last Friday Credit: Brian Thomas 7 Gazza is considered one of the greatest footballers of his generation and was capped 57 times for England Credit: Alamy 'Thank God Steve found him when he did, because he urgently needed help and intervention at that point. 'There's concern among Paul's friends and family that he won't be well enough to live on his own for a long time - he will certainly need someone at his side for the next few weeks. 'He's going to need a lot of help and support to get over this." The source added: 'Paul still spends a lot of time out and on the road attending events and meeting fans at boozy dinners and awards nights. 'It's a rollercoaster lifestyle with lots of temptation there. But over the last few months Paul's been doing OK and managing to keep his demons at bay. 'He's got a lot of support and goodwill and unlike in the past, where people were always buying him drinks and egging him on, that simply doesn't happen now. 'The whole world knows that Paul can't be drinking. All his pals are praying he can pull through this." Gascoigne has been represented for years by booking agent Katie Davies but she has now stepped back from regular involvement in his day-to-day life. Businessman Mr Foster - who runs a football memorabilia site with links to soccer heroes - now manages Gazza's public speaking dates and drives him to venues. The personal assistant - who visited the soccer great at Poole Hospital today - told the Sun: 'He's been sleeping a lot of the time but is making progress and has managed to eat something. 'He read The Sun's report and has been given a boost by all the messages of support. 'No date has been set for his hospital discharge yet - he's just taking one day at a time and focusing on getting well.'
