Man, 57, dies in early-hours motorway crash
A pedestrian has died following a crash on the M60, police have said.
Emergency services were called shortly before 04:00 BST to reports of a collision between junction 21 for Chadderton and Oldham, and the Ashton-under-Lyne turn-off at junction 23.
A 57-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene, said Greater Manchester Police (GMP).
Part of the M60 was closed for several hours. GMP has appealed for anyone who might have witnessed the crash, or have footage from the area in the moments leading up to it, to come forward.

CHP searching for red pickup truck in deadly hit-and-run in Fresno County
Authorities need help in locating a vehicle believed to be involved in a deadly hit-and-run Saturday night in Fresno County. Officers responded at 9:30 p.m. to Adams and Cove avenues in Orange Cove after a bicyclist was struck. According to the California Highway Patrol, a woman on a bicycle was traveling westbound on Adams Avenue when she was struck from behind by a Chevrolet Silverado 1500 pickup truck, also traveling westbound. The truck dragged the bicycle 120 feet and the driver drove away from the scene without rendering aid or notifying emergency services, CHP said. The bicyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. CHP said the victim was not wearing a helmet but did have a handheld lighting device activated to increase her visibility. Investigators are seeking the public's help in locating the vehicle, believed to be a red Chevrolet Silverado 1500, model year early-to-mid 2000s. The vehicle should have noticeable damage to the right front and likely missing a headlight lens, and may also be missing a black Chevrolet 'bowtie' grille emblem. A smoked-out headlight lens and a black bow tie emblem were recovered at the scene, CHP said. 1 dead, multiple injured in Stoney Trail collision
One person is dead and multiple others are injured following a multi-vehicle collision on Sunday evening. Police responded to the collision around 6:15 p.m. on northbound Stoney Trail between 17th Avenue S.W. and Bow Trail S.W. in southwest Calgary. Police did not confirm the number of vehicles involved, how many people were injured or the severity of their injuries. Both northbound and southbound traffic are being shut down, police said. Northbound traffic is being diverted at 17th Avenue S.W. while southbound Stoney Trail traffic is being diverted at Bow Trail S.W. Police said drivers could expect delays for several hours following the crash.

Oakland man who threw rock at Vallejo firefighter arrested after short chase, police said
An Oakland man who threw a large rock at a firefighter in Vallejo has been arrested, police said Sunday. Vallejo police said officers responded on Friday to a report of an attack on a firefighter in the area of Sonoma Boulevard and Redwood Street. The man, whose name was not released, allegedly threw a large rock at a fire engine that was responding to an emergency in the area. The rock entered the cabin of the truck and struck one of the firefighters in the back of the head. Despite wearing a protective helmet, the firefighter required medical attention, police said. The firefighter was from an outside agency and was assisting with the Vallejo emergency. A battalion chief with the Vallejo Fire Department followed the suspect, fled the scene, and was able to update police on his location. At the same time, other firefighters were able to give police a detailed description of the suspect while a California Highway Patrol helicopter provided aerial surveillance. The man was quickly captured and was booked into the Solano County Jail, where he faces charges of assault with a deadly weapon and battery on a firefighter, police said.
