Blade movie finally on track after surviving multiple delays

Time of India24-06-2025
The Marvel fans can finally see the Daywalker's debut soon in the movie 'Blade' as it's back on its track. Mahershala Ali's Blade movie was announced during Marvel's huge San Diego Comic-Con presentation in 2019.
Since then, the film has gone through different iterations, losing directors, cast members, and more along the way. In October 2024, Blade was removed from the MCU's release schedule, which meant the film was delayed without any doubt. However, those waiting for the project to make its way back on the list now have a reason to celebrate.
David Goyer revealed the Blade movie is seemingly moving forward at Marvel
Goyer claimed he approached the studio after Blade had a few setbacks to see if he could help, but he was turned down.
According to the writer, Marvel said, "We love you, but we think we've cracked it now, and we're in a good place." Since then, Blade has not made progress publicly, and Goyer has not been contacted, but it seems like the film is still quietly moving forward at the studio.

'It's so funny, about eight months ago—when not the latest hiccup hit, but like the prior hiccup—I had so many people that would say to me, 'Dude, would you get in there on 'Blade?' Would you just get in there?,' whether it be friends or fans or people on social media.

And I wasn't even really thinking about it, but then I had my agent call Marvel and say, 'Do you guys need any help?' And they said, 'We love you, but we think we've cracked it now, and we're in a good place.' And then the latest thing happened. And so no, they haven't contacted me.'
Mahershala Ali's Blade has suffered a series of setbacks
Last year, the film was removed from its November 7, 2025, release date, which Marvel has chosen not to fill with another project. Given how the MCU's upcoming movies — The Fantastic Four: First Steps, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Avengers: Doomsday, and Avengers: Secret Wars — are all major events key to the Multiverse Saga, Blade started to feel unlikely.
However, with Goyer's update on how Marvel feels it has opened up the story for the MCU's Blade movie, which is said to be in a good place, the lack of formal updates might simply be due to a choice of where to fit the film on the MCU's release schedule. Blade is a project that could very well work out after the Multiverse Saga concludes, and with Marvel having four dates reserved for 2028 MCU movies, Mahershala Ali's Blade could be one of those.

'Sinners' makers purchased costumes originally made for 'Blade' reboot

(Picture Courtesy: Facebook) Michael B Jordan's 'Sinners' gave audiences a sneak peek at Marvel's "Blade" reboot without the audience knowing. The producers of the movie revealed the costumes originally set for the 'Blade' reboot were repurposed for 'Sinners' after the production of the former movie hit a roadblock, reported Variety. During a recent interview with ScreenCrush, 'Sinners' producers Sev Ohanian shared that they bought the costumes from Marvel, which were originally intended for the reboot of 'Blade'. "[Costume designer] Ruth Carter was working on the Blade movie that ended up not shooting. At one point, that movie was going to deal with, and she's talked about this before, but at one point, that film was going to deal with the past around the same era as 'Sinners.' She happened to have a warehouse full of period-appropriate clothes, and it was like, 'Yo, we got to shoot this movie like tomorrow.' And Marvel was generous enough and kind enough to let us basically purchase it at price," said Sev Ohanian as quoted by Variety. Ohanian added that "a lot of the background actors" wore the clothes intended for "Blade" while the stars had original costumes, reported Variety. 'Sinners,' which debuted on April 18, is one of the major box office phenomena of 2025. An entirely original horror film went on to gross a staggering 364 million USD worldwide. It is currently the eighth highest-grossing film of 2025 and the only title in the top 10 not based on preexisting IP, according to Variety. As for Marvel's 'Blade', it was first announced in 2019 and has been in production limbo ever since. However, the film's star, Mahershala Ali, recently told Variety that he remains ready to step into the role of the daywalking vampire hunter.
