Authorities have issued warnings as water flow continues to rise in the Rasuwagadhi area.

9 army personnel missing in Uttarkashi district in flash flood
Dehradun: Nine Indian Army personnel are still missing in the devastating flash flood in the Kheer Ganga river that led to large-scale destruction in Dharali village, 4 kilometres from Harsil on the Gangotri highway and also struck the army camp in the area, said officials. He said Col Harshvardhan, commanding officer of 14th Battalion Rajputana Rifles, was personally leading 150 personnel in critical rescue and relief operations in the wake of the devastating mudslide at Kheer Gad, Dharali. 'Torrential rain and collapsed connectivity hasn't deterred their resolve to safeguard every civilian. Their grit under extreme adversity reflects the true spirit of the Indian Army, resilient, selfless and always ready to serve the Nation. In the meantime, additional columns are being moved to be pressed into rescue operations', he added. Earlier in the evening, Brigadier Mandeep Dhillon, Brigade Commander, IBEX Brigade said 'Rescue operations are underway. We reached the site within ten minutes as our unit in Harsil Camp is nearby. Those who are injured are receiving treatment. Unfortunately, the mudslide and cloud burst also struck the Indian Army camp and portions of our rescue columns. Uttarakhand: Schools declare holiday in 3 districts amid monsoon devastation
Dehradun (Uttarakhand) [India], August 5 (ANI): The Uttarakhand government, in view of the rain warning in the state, and the prevailing disaster situation in the Uttarkashi district has declared holiday from class 1 to 12 and all anganwadi centres in the Champawat, Pauri, and Udham Singh Nagar state's Department of Information and Public Relations, posted on X, as translated from Hindi, 'In view of the weather department's rain warning in Uttarakhand, a holiday has been declared for all schools from class 1 to 12 and Anganwadi centers in the state's Champawat, Pauri, and Udham Singh Nagar districts."Meanwhile, as Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami took stock of the disaster situation from Dehradun's Disaster Control Room, he ordered for district administration to 'remain on 24-hour alert mode," while also making sure that ambulances services in and around Dharali. The leaves of all medical officers and staff have also been cancelled. 'Instructions have been given to the administration to remain on 24-hour alert mode to ensure that the affected are transported to safe locations, provided with necessary medical and relief supplies, given better treatment for the injured, and extended every possible assistance. Instructions have also been issued to keep the 108 ambulance service on high alert in the areas around Dharali and to immediately cancel the leaves of all medical officers and staff," CM Dhami posted on X. In view of the heavy rainfall, helpline numbers will remain active 24/7, and the Chief Minister has urged people to follow guidelines and avoid any unnecessary travel. NEW DELHI: At least ten Army personnel have been reported missing after devastating cloudbursts triggered flash floods in the Harsil area of Uttarakhand's Uttarkashi district, officials confirmed on Tuesday. The missing soldiers were stationed at a camp in the lower Harsil region when the incident occurred, reported news agency ANI. Despite the tragedy hitting their own ranks, Troops joined relief operations on the ground, officials added. The Air Force also swung into action, with Mi-17 V5, Chinook, Cheetah, and ALH helicopters on active standby at the Chandigarh air base. IAF officials say the choppers were equipped with the necessary material and are prepared to take off as soon as weather conditions improve in the affected region. A cloudburst in the catchment area of the Kheer Ganga river led to violent flash floods in the high-altitude village of Dharali, which lies en route to Gangotri. The disaster has claimed the lives of at least four people, while 10 to 12 others may be trapped under debris, local sources said. Dharali, a key halt for travellers heading to the sacred Gangotri shrine, is home to several hotels, homestays and eateries. Resident Rajesh Panwar told PTI that the scale of destruction is unprecedented. "About 10-12 people could be buried under the debris. 20-25 hotels and homestays may have been washed away," he said. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed condolences to those affected by the tragedy and assured that relief efforts are under way with full force. 'I express my condolences to the people affected by this tragedy in Dharali, Uttarkashi. Along with this, I pray for the well-being of all the victims. I have spoken to Chief Minister Pushkar Dhami ji and obtained information about the situation. Under the supervision of the state government, relief and rescue teams are engaged in every possible effort. No stone is being left unturned in providing assistance to the people,' the Prime Minister wrote on X.
