Chelsea were able to cope without James as they won 2-1 thanks to Cole Palmer and a deflected Malo Gusto strike, and will now face Fluminense in the semi final.
Reece James provides fitness update
It's always a worry for Chelsea fans when there's an even a hint of an issue for James given his well documented injury problems.
Maresca offered an update on James after the Palmeiras game, and the England international has now confirmed he's fit.

Last season the 25-year-old once again had injury issues, but since returning from his latest setback in January the England international has managed to remain fit.
Maresca has managed James very carefully and has even deployed him in midfield at times as it's less taxing on his body.

Maresca faces Fluminense selection headache
It's a huge boost that James will be available, but Maresca has got a few selection issues ahead of Tuesday's semi final.
Moises Caicedo returns from suspension, but having been booked in the quarter final both Liam Delap and Levi Colwill are banned.
Romeo Lavia remains a doubt having missed the Palmeiras game, but it's likely Tosin Adarabioyo will come in to partner Trevoh Chalobah, whilst Joao Pedro could be in line for his first start.

Why is Wimbledon blaming human error for a mistake by its new electronic line-calling system?
LONDON — The All England Club, somewhat ironically, is blaming 'human error' for a glaring mistake by the electronic system that replaced human line judges this year at Wimbledon . The CEO of the club, Sally Bolton, said Monday that the ball-tracking technology was 'inadvertently deactivated' by someone for three points at Centre Court during Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova's three-set victory over Sonay Kartal a day earlier in the fourth round. On one point, a shot by Kartal clearly landed past the baseline but wasn't called out by the automated setup — called Hawk-Eye — because it had been shut off.

(AP Photo/Kin Cheung) LONDON (AP) — Roger Federer is back at Wimbledon. The eight-time champion at the All England Club was sitting in the Royal Box to watch Monday's fourth-round matches on Centre Court, starting with his former rival Novak Djokovic playing Alex de Minaur. Advertisement Federer was greeted by a loud round of applause as he entered the box together with his wife Mirka. He was wearing a blue suit featuring a circular purple badge on his lapel that former champions are given to denote them as members of the All England Club. The Swiss former No. 1 won his first title at the grass-court Grand Slam tournament in 2003 and his eighth in 2017. His last final was in 2019, when he lost an epic five-setter to Djokovic that was the longest title match in Wimbledon history. Also in the Royal Box on Monday was King Frederik X of Denmark, comedian Michael McIntyre and Michael and Carole Middleton — the parents of Kate, Princess of Wales, who is the patron of the All England Club. ___ AP tennis:
