Three Detroit Tigers Named All Star Game Starters: First Time Since '07
It looks like 2025 is the 'Summer of the Tigers.'
Not one, not two, but three of Detroit's position players were named All-Star Game starters. Riley Green and Javier Báez will represent their squad in the outfield, and first-year Tiger Gleyber Torres earned the top spot at second base.

It has been almost 18 years since the Tigers last accomplished this feat. That time around, Magglio Ordóñez, Iván Rodríguez and Plácido Polanco made it into the Midsummer Classic.
This year marks the fourth time in franchise history that the Tigers have had three starting position players honored.
All signs are pointing towards Tarik Skubal being chosen as the American League's starting pitcher, as well. If American League skipper Aaron Boone passes over his own Max Fried, it will be the first time four defensive position starters for the All-Star Game came from Detroit since 1966.
This is the same team that had the 7th-best odds just to make it to the World Series, according to Yahoo Sports oddsmakers.

A double-digit lead in the division, the most wins in the American League, and now three starting position players in the All-Star Game. It is a new era for Detroit baseball.

Mario Barrios retained the WBC welterweight championship after a majority draw against Manny Pacquiao on his comeback to the ring. "This is by far the biggest event I've had to date, and we came in here and left everything in the ring. I have nothing but respect for Manny. "His stamina is crazy. He's still strong as hell and his timing is real. He's still a very awkward fighter to try to figure out." In the night's co-main event, Sebastian Fundora retained his WBC super welterweight title after Australian Tim Tszyu did not come out for the eighth round of their rematch.
