Yashasvi Jaiswal will be available to play for Mumbai, MCA approves his withdrawal of NOC
The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has approved Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal's request to withdraw his no-objection certificate application. He will now be available to play for Mumbai in the upcoming domestic season.
MCA president Ajinkya Naik confirmed to this paper that the Apex Council accepted Jaiswal's withdrawal application.
'We have accepted Jaiswal's withdrawal of NOC application and he will be available for Mumbai during forthcoming domestic season,' Naik told The Indian Express.
In May earlier, this year, The Indian Express had reported how the 23-year-old has now written an email to the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) to withdraw his NOC and said he is available to represent Mumbai for the next domestic season.
Earlier in May, Jaiswal had written an email to MCA , deciding to take U-turn on his decision to play for Goa. 'I the undersigned would request your goodself to consider my request in withdrawing my NOC given to me as I had some family plans in shifting to Goa which for now has been curtailed ! So I sincerely request MCA to allow me to play for Mumbai this season ! I have not submitted the NOC to BCCI nor to Goa Cricket Association,' Jaiswal had written then.
In April, Jaiswal had taken MCA officials by surprise when he sought an NOC to move to Goa. Jaiswal had cited personal reasons for his shift. Goa had qualified for the knock-out stage of the Ranji Trophy. If Jaiswal had gone ahead with his plan to represent Goa, he would have followed the likes of Arjun Tendulkar and Siddhesh Lad, this generation Mumbai players who have also represented Goa.
The India opener, who has had a splendid start to his Test career and was the best Indian batsman during the last Border-Gavaskar Trophy series in Australia with a hundred and two half-centuries, said getting a leadership role with Goa was the reason for making the switch.
'Goa has thrown me a new opportunity and has offered me a leadership role. My first goal will be to do well for India and whenever I'm not on national duty, I will be playing for Goa and try to make them go deep into the tournament. This was an (important) opportunity which came my way and I just took it,' Jaiswal had told The Indian Express.
Jaiswal had moved from Suriyawan in Uttar Pradesh's Bhadohi to Mumbai at the age of 11 to pursue cricket. He has represented India since his Under-19 days and burst onto the scene with a double century in the Vijay Hazare Trophy a few seasons ago. It was his exploits for Mumbai that got him on the national selectors' radar and a contract with the Rajasthan Royals in the IPL.

Hitesh, Sachin Siwach lead India's winning start at World Boxing Cup Kazakhstan 2025
Astana [Kazakhstan], June 30 (ANI): India began its campaign at the World Boxing Cup Kazakhstan 2025 on a promising note with Hitesh Gulia and Sachin Siwach with dominant, unanimous wins in their opening preliminary bouts on Monday at the Beeline Arena. Hitesh, a gold medallist from the Brazil leg, outclassed Olympian Kan Chia-Wei of Chinese Taipei 5:0 in the light middleweight division. Sachin, a bronze winner in Brazil, was equally convincing in his 5:0 win over Canada's Al-Ahmadieh Keoma-Ali in the lightweight category at the Beeline Arena. In women's competition, Minakshi began her campaign with a clean 5:0 win over Australia's Madeleine Bowen in the light flyweight division, while Muskan edged England's Kerry Davis in a closely contested 3:2 decision in the middleweight category. The Kazakhstan leg will run until July 7, with over 400 boxers from 31 countries, including Olympians, contesting across 10 weight categories in both men's and women's divisions. India has fielded a 20-member team, according to India had claimed six medals at the previous World Boxing Cup leg in Brazil. With the finals set to take place in New Delhi this November, the Astana leg plays a key role in shaping preparations. In the Brazil leg in April earlier this year, the Indian contingent delivered an impressive performance in their first-ever outing at the Elite level international meet organised by World Boxing, bagging six medals, including a gold and a silver, at Foz Do Iguacu. Four Indian players bagged bronze medals, including Jadumani Singh Mandengbam (50kg), Manish Rathore (55kg), Sachin (60kg) and Vishal (90kg). During the tournament, Hitesh became the first Indian boxer to clinch a gold medal in the World Boxing Cup. His opponent, Odel Kamara of England, was injured and couldn't take to the ring in the 70kg finale. Abhinash Jamwal, the other Indian boxer to reach the final in the 65kg category, gave his best against local favourite Yuri Reis but could not do enough to get a favourable verdict and bagged a silver medal. Soumya Guguloth undergoes surgery after nasal bone fracture in Timor-Leste match
Indian women's football team midfielder Soumya Guguloth has undergone a successful surgery after she suffered a nasal bone fracture during her side's AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers victory over Timor-Leste. The 24-year-old is currently recovering at the team hotel. Soumya had tested the Timor-Leste defence a couple of times in the second half but could not convert the opportunities into goals. India won the group match 4-0 to notch their second consecutive victory on Sunday. "Soumya Guguloth sustained a nasal bone fracture during the second half of yesterday's match against Timor-Leste. She was taken to the hospital immediately and successfully underwent surgery last night (Sunday). She has since been discharged and is now back at the team hotel," said All India Football Federation (AIFF) in a medical update on 'X' on Monday. In a one-sided contest, winger Manisha Kalyan (12th, 80th) scored a brilliant brace, while Anju Tamang (58th) and Lynda Kom Serto (86th) also found the net as India dominated the match from start to finish at the 700th Anniversary Stadium. With the win, India now sit atop Group B with six points from two games. They are ahead of Thailand, also on six points, on better goal difference, while Iraq are third on four points. India will next play Iraq on Wednesday followed by their fixture against Thailand on Saturday at the same venue.
