‘Last season I was critical of Shamrock Rovers fans. Tonight I heard a chant from Linfield fans that was bang out of order too'
Daniel McDonnell and the Belfast Telegraph's Steven Beacom review a dramatic Champions League night at Windsor Park where Shelbourne survived some nervy moments before taking a significant step into the next round. They discuss Shelbourne's superiority over the two legs, the questions it presents for Irish League clubs around the structure of the season, and the overall occasion with praise for managers and supporters around their handling of the all-island aspect – although Steven does move to condemn one Linfield chant after being highly critical of Shamrock Rovers supporters during their win over Larne in the Conference League last year.

Northern Ireland legend hits back at Gary Neville's take on career-ending injury
Northern Ireland and Leeds United legend Stuart Dallas has hit back at Gary Neville's suggestion that the collision that ended his career was 'madness' on his part. The former Crusaders star's career was cut short at the age of 31 while playing for Leeds United against Manchester City in April 2022. At the time, Sky Sports commentator Neville stated that the Leeds player was responsible for the collision with City man Jack Grealish. Neville said: 'It was madness from Dallas, he has been flying into challenges. He's competitive.' Dallas dismissed Neville's assessment on this week's BelTel Football podcast, stating the tackle that left him with a femoral fracture was just a 'freak accident'. He said: 'It was just a tackle. There was maybe a bit of over eagerness from me to try and win the ball. It was the way we played at the time under Jesse Marsch. He wanted us to be on the front foot and aggressive. 'Gary Neville said on Sky Sports that it was probably my own fault. But listen, you make that challenge 10, 15 maybe even 20 times a game. I just tried to intercept the ball and Grealish got there before me. 'I tried to put the foot in and he'd come across me. His knee just hit mine and it was just a freak accident. Later it was described to me like a car crash injury. It was like a car just coming into the side of you.' Three years on, Dallas has come to terms with the abrupt end to his football career. He said: 'It was a really horrible experience. I was in a lot of pain for a long time. But that's part and parcel of football. I was very fortunate throughout my career, I never really had a serious injury.' The BelTel Football Summer Special with Stuart Dallas is available to download now.
