Keysight, NTT Innovative Devices, and Lumentum Achieve New Benchmark 448 Gbps Data Transmission for AI Data Centers
Optimized for AI and ML applications requiring ultra-fast data processing
Breakthrough in data center scalability, energy efficiency, and high-speed networking
Enables development of power-efficient 3.2T interfaces for data center networks
SANTA ROSA, Calif., April 02, 2025--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Keysight Technologies, Inc., NTT Innovative Devices Corporation, and Lumentum Holdings Inc. ("Lumentum") announce a pioneering joint demonstration of 448 Gbps data transmission using 224 GBaud PAM4 optical technology at the Optical Fiber Communication Conference and Exhibition (OFC) 2025. This collaboration addresses the escalating bandwidth demands of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) applications, enabling the development of power-efficient 3.2 terabit (Tbps) interfaces for future data center networks.
Keysight is enabling the industry in the early R&D stage for 448 Gbps. During this early R&D innovation phase, experts explore various modulation schemes, including PAM4, PAM6, and PAM8. Notably, for 224 Gbps optical transmission, the industry has already embraced PAM4 as the preferred choice, highlighting the industry's commitment to pushing the boundaries of high-speed data transmission and setting new standards for the future.
AI and ML applications require ultra-fast, real-time data processing. The 448 Gbps transmission speed accelerates data movement between compute and network nodes, reducing latency and enhancing AI/ML model efficiency. As these models become increasingly complex, higher data throughput is essential to support scalability without bottlenecks. Additionally, this breakthrough improves data center efficiency, lowering operational costs and minimizing environmental impact.
The demonstration utilizes two Keysight M8199B Arbitrary Waveform Generators with NTT's advanced frequency-domain interleaver to generate 448 Gbps electrical signals with 224 Gbaud PAM4. This signal is used to drive a Lumentum indium phosphide (InP) externally-modulated laser (EML), showcasing the potential for high-speed, power-efficient optical interconnects. The successful generation of 240 Gbaud PAM4 was also demonstrated using the same hardware.
The demonstration features the latest 224 GBaud and beyond PAM4 technology, which enables 448 Gbps per lane data transmission and paves the way for developing power-efficient 3.2T interfaces for data center networks (DCN). This achievement represents a significant leap forward in achieving higher data rates and improved signal integrity.
The joint demonstration consists of:
Keysight's M8199B Arbitrary Waveform Generator, the industry's fastest AWG, operating at 256 GSa/s with analog bandwidth exceeding 80 GHz.
Keysight's N1032A DCA-X Sampling Oscilloscope, ideal for analyzing high baud rate optical signals with up to 120 GHz optical bandwidth.
NTT's frequency-domain interleaver, available as Keysight M8159A, which extends the bandwidth of the M8199B AWG.
Lumentum's high-bandwidth InP externally-modulated laser (EML).
Dr. Akimasa Kaneko, Executive Vice President of Photonic Component Business Group at NTT Innovative Devices, said: "We see this collaboration between the three companies as an important step in further evolving next-generation high-speed optical communications and the AI infrastructure. We are confident that we have prepared the fundamental technologies necessary to realize 400G/lane in a timely manner, and we hope that this will help further develop this industry."
Dr. Matthew Sysak, Chief Technology Officer, Cloud and Networking Platform at Lumentum, said: "Achieving 448 Gbps transmission is a significant milestone in advancing optical interconnects for AI-driven cloud infrastructure. This collaboration underscores Lumentum's expertise in photonics and our commitment to delivering cutting-edge optical components that support the rapid expansion of AI and cloud data centers. As AI and ML applications require real-time processing of ever-growing datasets, our high-performance externally modulated lasers will be instrumental in enabling faster, more efficient, and scalable data center networks."
Dr. Joachim Peerlings, Vice President of Network and Data Center Solutions at Keysight Technologies, said: "This collaboration showcases the cutting-edge advancements in high-speed optical communication and highlights the combined strengths of Keysight, NTT Innovative Devices, and Lumentum. This demo is another milestone for Keysight to enable the industry in advancing the AI infrastructure, laying the foundation for future generations to innovate in new and transformative ways."
The Keysight M8199B Arbitrary Waveform Generator and Keysight N1032A/B DCA-X Sampling Oscilloscopes are part of the Keysight Artificial Intelligence (KAI) architecture, a portfolio of end-to-end solutions designed to help customers scale artificial intelligence (AI) processing capacity in data centers.
The 448 Gbps joint demonstration will be showcased for the first time at booth #1301 during OFC 2025, April 1-3, at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, California.

SITE Centers Announces Two Sales and Special Common Distribution
BEACHWOOD, Ohio--(BUSINESS WIRE)--SITE Centers Corp. (NYSE: SITC) announced today the sale of Winter Garden Village (Orlando, FL) for $165.0 million and the sale of Deer Valley Towne Center (Phoenix, AZ) for $33.7 million, both prior to closing costs, prorations and other closing adjustments. A portion of net proceeds were used to repay $22.3 million of mortgage debt. The Company's Board of Directors also declared a special cash distribution on its common shares of $3.25 per common share payable on August 29, 2025 to shareholders of record at the close of business on August 15, 2025. Because the payment of the special dividend represents more than 25% of the price of the Company's common shares, NYSE has advised the Company that its common shares will trade with 'due bills' representing an assignment of the right to receive the special dividend from the record date of August 15, 2025 through the closing of trading on NYSE on August 29, 2025, which is the payment date and the last day of trading before the September 2, 2025 ex-dividend date (this period of time representing the 'Dividend Right Period'). Shareholders who sell their common shares during the Dividend Right Period will be selling their right to the special dividend, and such shareholders will not be entitled to receive the special dividend. Due bills obligate a seller of common shares to deliver the special dividend payable on such common shares to the buyer (the 'Dividend Right'). The record date of August 15, 2025 will be used as the date for establishing the due bill tracking of the Dividend Right to the holder of common shares. Due bill obligations are customarily settled between the brokers representing the buyers and the sellers of shares. The Company has no obligation for either the amount of the due bill or the processing of the due bill. Buyers and sellers of the Company's common shares should consult their brokers before trading to be sure they understand the effect of NYSE's due bill procedures. About SITE Centers Corp. SITE Centers is an owner and manager of open-air shopping centers located primarily in suburban, high household income communities. The Company is a self-administered and self-managed REIT operating as a fully integrated real estate company, and is publicly traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol SITC.
