Germany charges Syrian national in connection with Taylor Swift concert plot
BERLIN: Germany has charged a Syrian national with supporting a foreign terrorist organization for helping to plan a foiled attack on a Taylor Swift concert in Vienna last year, the prosecutor general said in a statement on Friday.
Identified as Mohammad A, the suspect helped the would-be attacker by translating Arabic bomb-building instructions and putting him in contact with a member of the Islamic State militia online, according to the charges against him.

Firefighters were ambushed by sniper fire while responding to a blaze in a northern Idaho mountain community Sunday, killing at least two people and unleashing barrages of gunfire over several hours in an attack the governor called a 'heinous assault.' 'I ask all Idahoans to pray for them and their families as we wait to learn more.' Norris said it appeared the sniper was hiding in the rugged terrain and using a high-powered rifle. He said he instructed deputies to fire back. 'I'm hoping that somebody has a clear shot and is able to neutralize because they're not, at this point in time, showing any evidence of wanting to surrender,' the sheriff said. An alert by the Kootenai County Emergency Management Office asked people to avoid the area around Canfield Mountain Trailhead and Nettleton Gulch Road about 4 miles (6.5 km) north of downtown Coeur d'Alene. The fire was still active, Norris said. 'It's going to keep burning,' he said. 'Can't put any resources on it right now.' Coeur d'Alene is a city of 55,000 residents near the border with Washington. Canfield Mountain is a popular hiking and biking area on the outskirts of the northern Idaho city, covered with trees and heavy brush and crisscrossed with trails.

Israeli security service says 60 Hamas members arrested in West Bank
Israel's security service said Sunday it had broken up a network of Hamas militants in the occupied West Bank suspected of planning attacks, arresting 60 of the group's members. The Shin Bet internal security agency said in a statement that 'a significant, complex, and large-scale Hamas infrastructure was exposed' in the West Bank town of Hebron. It said it broke up 10 militant cells that 'operated to carry out attacks in various formats in the immediate time frame.' Hamas leaders 'worked to recruit, arm, and train additional Hamas operatives from the area to carry out shooting and bombing attacks against Israeli targets,' according to the statement. Shin Bet said the three-month joint operation with the military and police was its biggest investigation in the West Bank 'in the past decade.' It said terrorism charges were being filed against the suspects. Hamas did not immediately comment on the statement.
