Three Indians seized in Mali during militant attacks
The men were seized Tuesday when 'a group of armed assailants carried out a coordinated attack at the factory premises' of the Diamond Cement Factory in Kayes, the main city in Mali's western region, the ministry said in a statement late Wednesday.
It said the gunmen 'forcibly took three Indian nationals as hostages.'
It added the Indian embassy in Bamako was in 'close and constant communication' with Mali's government, as well as 'the family members of the abducted Indian nationals.'
India did not give details about the attackers, or say if it was in contact with them.
However, it said that 'many military and government installations at multiple locations of western and central Mali were attacked by terrorists on 01 July 2025.'
Since 2012, Mali has been battling an insurgency that erupted in the north, swept the country and spilled over into neighboring Burkina Faso and Niger.
The junta-led nation is deeply troubled by groups affiliated with al-Qaeda and ISIS, as well as separatist movements and criminal gangs.

10 Niger soldiers killed in jihadist attacks: govt
NIAMEY, Niger: A double attack Friday by suspected jihadists near Niger's western border with Burkina Faso left 10 troops dead, authorities said whilst stating that 41 attackers were also killed. The west African country, now run by a military junta, has been battling violence by groups linked to Al-Qaeda and Islamic Jihad for the past decade. Defense Minister General Salifou Modi said in a statement the simultaneous attacks by 'several hundred mercenaries' took place in Bouloundjounga and Samira in Gotheye department. The statement, read on national television, said 10 soldiers were killed and 15 wounded. 'On the enemy side, 41 mercenaries were neutralized,' it added. Gotheye department is near the borders with Mali and Burkina Faso and has long been a zone known for jihadist attacks. The village of Samira has Niger's only industrial scale gold mining company. Eight of the company's workers were killed in May when their vehicle was blown up by a roadside bomb.

Troops Kill 30 Militants Attempting to Sneak into Pakistan from Afghanistan
Pakistani security forces killed 30 militants who attempted to enter the country from Afghanistan, the military said Friday. It said the members of the Pakistani Taliban were spotted overnight in the North Waziristan district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province and the troops seized weapons, ammunition and explosives from the militants. The military's statement did not mention if there was a gunfight or other details of the operation. The military alleged the militants were backed by India and asked the Afghan government to prevent the use of its territory by 'foreign proxies' to attack Pakistan, The Associated Press reported. There was no immediate comment from New Delhi. Pakistani authorities often accuse India of backing outlawed groups like the Baloch Liberation Army and Pakistani Taliban who commit violence in Pakistan. Such accusations have increased since a shooting in Indian-controlled Kashmir in April heightened tensions between the nuclear-armed nations. President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised security forces for the successful operation. Pakistani troops killed 54 insurgents in the same area in April. Militant violence has surged in Pakistan in recent months, much of it blamed on the Pakistani Taliban. The group is separate from the Afghan Taliban but closely allied with them. Many of its leaders and fighters have found sanctuary in Afghanistan since the Taliban takeover in 2021.

Pakistan says killed 30 militants trying to infiltrate border with Afghanistan
ISLAMABAD: At least 30 'Indian-sponsored' militants were killed while attempting to cross into Pakistan through its border with Afghanistan this week, the Pakistani military said on Friday. Pakistani security forces intercepted the militants in the restive North Waziristan district, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the military's media wing. All 30 militants, belonging to 'Indian proxy Fitna Al-Khawarij,' a reference to the Pakistani Taliban, were killed as a result of 'precise and skillful engagement.' 'A large quantity of weapons, ammunition and explosives was also recovered from the killed Indian-sponsored Khawarij [militants],' the ISPR said in a statement. 'The interim Afghan government also needs to check and prevent the use of Afghan soil by 'foreign proxies' for orchestrating terrorist activities against Pakistan.' Pakistan has witnessed a sharp rise in violence in its western regions bordering Afghanistan, with Islamabad accusing India of backing militant groups and Afghanistan of allowing the use of its soil for attacks against Pakistan. Kabul and New Delhi deny the allegation. The North Waziristan district has long been a stronghold of the Pakistani Taliban, who have mounted their attacks against Pakistani security forces and checkposts, and law enforcers since late 2022, when their fragile, months-long truce broke down with Islamabad. On June 28, a suicide attack, claimed by Hafiz Gul Bahadur group of the Pakistani Taliban, killed 13 Pakistani soldiers and injured 29 people, including civilians, in the volatile district that borders Afghanistan, local government and police officials said. A day later, the district administration imposed a 30-day restriction on the movement of people and vehicles from dusk till dawn, saying it was in the interest of 'public safety, law and order, movement of security forces and [to] restrict the movement of outlaws.' In a statement issued from his office, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised Pakistani security forces for foiling the militant infiltration attempt in North Waziristan. 'We are determined to completely eradicate all forms of terrorism from the country,' he said. 'The entire nation salutes their security forces.'
