P3F at the G7 Summit with an AI innovation in aviation safety Français

Cision Canada10-06-2025
BLAINVILLE, QC, June 10, 2025 /CNW/ - P3F is proud to announce that one of its projects, developed in collaboration with Mila, Nolinor Aviation, CIRRUS Intelligence and the NRC, has been selected by Mila as the only project involving an SME to be showcased at the G7 Summit on Innovation. This artificial intelligence solution, designed to transform the management of aviation safety investigations, highlights Quebec's technological expertise on an international stage.
Working closely with Mila, Nolinor Aviation, and CIRRUS Intelligence, P3F provided the technical support needed to meet the rigorous demands of the aviation sector. P3F notably designed the architecture of this cutting-edge solution, structuring the automated processing of incident reports, integrating advanced AI modules developed by Mila, and ensuring a secure and high-performance framework for intelligent, fast event analysis.
"This project clearly demonstrates that AI can address real-world operational needs. Collaborating with Mila and a major player like Nolinor was a rewarding and stimulating experience. For P3F, it's a strong vote of confidence, and, above all, a stepping stone toward future projects." – Mathieu Duchesne, Manager and Partner, P3F
Thanks to this new tool, safety teams can significantly reduce the time spent on investigations. Several complex tasks, such as report structuring, barrier analysis, and reviewing technical documentation, will now be automated, allowing more time for interpretation and decision-making.
"The goal is for the process to be interactive—it's not designed for the language model to complete everything in one go. It's meant to allow back-and-forth exchanges, real interaction. In the end, the human remains responsible for the report." – Hadrien Bertrand, Senior Applied Research Scientist, Mila
The solution has already demonstrated its impact, reducing some analyses from 40 hours to approximately 5 hours of human involvement—a reduction of 80%. The next step is to begin commercialization across the aviation industry.
This project marks P3F's first venture into artificial intelligence, and the company is already working on other ambitious initiatives. To learn more or to discuss a custom project, visit p3f.ca/en/.

CALGARY, AB, Aug. 5, 2025 /CNW/ - Viewpoint Investment Management Corporation, the manager of Viewpoint Global Multi-Asset Trust (the "Fund"), today announced a material change in the Fund's Series F-USD investment risk classification. Effective August 5, 2025, the Fund's risk rating will be updated from "Low to Medium" to "Medium." This change reflects a reassessment of the Fund's portfolio composition and risk profile, consistent with the guidelines set forth by the Canadian Securities Administrators (CSA). The updated risk rating better aligns with the Fund's current investment strategy and market conditions. Key Details: Fund Name: Viewpoint Global Multi-Asset Trust Fund Type: Alternative Mutual Fund Previous Risk Classification: Low to Medium New Risk Classification: Medium Effective Date: August 5, 2025 Reason for Change: Increased volatility and fluctuations in the US dollar exchange rate has contributed to a higher overall portfolio risk profile, consistent with the Fund's exposure to US assets and currency movements. What This Means for Investors Investors should be aware that the Fund's risk profile has increased slightly, which may result in greater volatility and potential fluctuations in returns. The Fund's investment objectives and management team remain unchanged, and the Fund continues to seek long-term capital growth consistent with its updated risk level. Jim Redpath, founder of North Bay mining contractor, has died

Jim Redpath is best known for founding J.S. Redpath Ltd., a mining contracting company specializing in shaft sinking based in North Bay, when he was just 26 years old. James (Jim) Stockton Redpath, 88, died Aug. 2 in St. John's, Nfld., after a 'courageous 20-year journey with Parkinson's disease,' his obituary said. Redpath is best known for founding J.S. Redpath Ltd., a mining contracting company specializing in shaft sinking based in North Bay, when he was just 26 years old. It's now known as Redpath Mining Contractors and Engineers. Jim Redpath grew up at a mine site in Val-d'Or, Que, the eldest child of James and Margaret Redpath. 'As a teenager, he worked two formative summers on a small exploration boat in Hudson Bay, an experience that sparked both his enduring work ethic and a deep love of the Canadian North,' his obit said. Redpath earned his degree in mining engineering from McGill University before founding his famous mining contracting company. 'Under his leadership, the company … laid a foundation of technical excellence and integrity, eventually becoming a global leader in mining services,' his obit said. 'He stepped away from the company at age 50, proud of its trajectory and legacy.' 'Under his leadership, the company … laid a foundation of technical excellence and integrity, eventually becoming a global leader in mining services.' — Jim Repath obituary The company started with only four employees in October 1962. When it celebrated its 60th anniversary in 2022, there were more than 6,400 staff around the world, including 200 in North Bay. Five years after he founded J.S. Redpath Ltd., the company secured five major projects. One of the projects, Creighton Mine, No. 9 Shaft, located in Ontario, was the deepest North American shaft at that time. After leaving the mining world, Redpath studied art curation at Sotheby's in New York and went on to lead the Capitol Arts Centre in North Bay for several years, supporting local artists and fostering cultural growth. 'In later years, Jim and his wife Bobbi settled in St. John's … a place he held close to his heart,' his obituary said. 'There, they became deeply involved in the city's vibrant arts community.' Honorary doctorates In recognition of his contributions to industry and the arts, he received honorary doctorates from both McGill University and Nipissing University and served as the first Chancellor of Nipissing in 1994. 'He was a loving and supportive father to Carolyn, Lorraine, John and Sarah, and a proud grandfather to five grandchildren. He was predeceased by his siblings, Anne and John. Jim's life was one of vision, reinvention, and quiet philanthropy. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.' A Celebration of Life will be held on Aug. 20 at 4 p.m. at The Rooms in St. John's, Newfoundland. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Parkinson Canada or a local arts organization in Jim's memory.

Quebec condo owners: Here are some changes to divided co-ownerships coming this month

Construction workers are seen working on the site of a new condo development in Montreal, Monday, Feb. 19, 2024. THE CANADIAN PRESS/Christinne Muschi Some changes are coming to how divided co-ownerships are managed in Quebec, such as condominium buildings. The changes take effect Aug. 14. The new regulations call for maintenance logs and contingency funds to ensure 'more transparent and responsible management,' according to the Société d'habitation du Québec website. Property associations will be required to establish a maintenance log and have a contingency fund study produced within three years and one day. The goal of the maintenance log is to 'record all work done and to be done on the building to ensure rigorous monitoring of its condition,' according to the Quebec housing group. The maintenance log must include: A detailed inventory of the building's common areas (including materials, appliances, and equipment) and private areas the association is responsible for A description of major repairs and replacements to be carried out over the next 25 years (with a completion date for each) An assessment of the condition and estimated remaining useful life of the materials, appliances, and equipment listed in the inventory A list of major repairs and replacements carried out, along with their completion date and cost Documents relating to the work (plans, specifications, contracts, etc.) Who can fill out the maintenance log? Only a member of the Quebec Order of Engineers, the Order of Chartered Appraisers, the Order of Architects, Order of Professional Technologists may create the maintenance log. This person may not have any direct connection with the condominium or its occupants. For example, they can't be a member of the board of directors, manager of the co-ownership, co-owner or occupant of the building, spouse of a co-owner or occupant of the building, or shareholder, officer, director or employee of a company that is a co-owner of the building, occupies it or manages it. The maintenance log needs to be updated at least once a year by the condominium board of directors and then reviewed at least every five years by a professional. Review of the contingency fund A study of the condominium's contingency fund must also be carried out to 'ensure that the condominium has the necessary funds to finance major repairs and replacements to be made in the common areas,' the housing society explained. The study needs to be based on data in the maintenance log and updated every five years. 'It allows you to estimate how much money needs to be set aside each year to avoid unpleasant surprises when major repairs and replacements to common areas need to be made,' according to the Société d'habitation du Québec website. That will allow the association and the building's co-owners to determine part of their condo fees. The contingency fund study can also only be carried out by one of the professional groups listed above, or a member of the Quebec Order of Chartered Professional Accountants. Again, they can't have any connection with the condominium or its occupants. Here's a summary of all the new regulations - With a report by Émile Bérubé-Lupien / Noovo Info
