Leicester City have sacked Ruud van Nistelrooy from the head coach position as the man couldn't avoid relegation from the Premier League. Leicester City could only take 25 points from 38 games and finished 18th on the table. As it was confirmed earlier, but club waited for few days to sack him.
Leicester City have officially parted ways with head coach Ruud van Nistelrooy following the club's relegation from the Premier League. The former Manchester United striker, who took over at the start of the season, failed to steer the Foxes to safety, with the team collecting just 25 points from 38 matches and finishing 18th in the table.
While reports of Van Nistelrooy's exit had been circulating since the final matchday, the club took a few days to make the decision official. The disappointing campaign marks a swift fall for Leicester, who had been Premier League champions just eight years ago.
In a brief statement, the club thanked Van Nistelrooy for his efforts but stated that a change was necessary as they prepare for life in the Championship. A search for a new manager is already underway, with Leicester aiming to bounce back immediately to the top flight.

UFC 317 results: Ilia Topuria quickly KOs Charles Oliveira, shoves Paddy Pimblett
Ilia Topuria has gold around his waist once again. In the UFC 317 main event Saturday, Topuria (17-0 MMA, 9-0 UFC) knocked out Charles Oliveira in 2:27 and claimed a championship – this time, at lightweight. Advertisement The fight was wild for as long as it lasted. Oliveira (35-11 MMA, 23-11 UFC) was cut in the opening minute. When he tried to drag the fight to the canvas, Topuria reversed his attempt and landed on top. Oliveira attempted a heel hook, which Topuria wiggled away from. Back on the feet, Topuria cracked him with a straight right hand that instantly snatched Oliveira's consciousness from him. Two more follow-up shots smashed Oliveira's face before the fight was waved off. After the fight, the UFC had Topuria rival (and next title challenger?) Paddy Pimblett enter the cage for a faceoff. The two exchanged words before Topuria shoved him backward. Topuria, 28, won the UFC featherweight title in October. He vacated the title months later, citing weight cut issues. A breakthrough star in the Spanish and Georgian markets, Topuria became the first undefeated fighter to win a second UFC title. Advertisement Oliveira, 35, moves to 2-3 in his most recent five bouts. Saturday's loss is his first knockout/TKO defeat since December 2017. In the wake of Islam Makhachev's departure from the weight class and relinquishing the belt, former featherweight champ Topuria (17-0 MMA, 9-0 UFC) moved up and became the first in history to win titles in two weight classes with an undefeated record. The moment came courtesy of a first-round knockout of Oliveira (35-11 MMA, 23-11 UFC) in the headliner at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
