‘For me, no-one else is like Man United' – Matheus Cunha determined to help change fortunes of his ‘dream team'
The defeat in Bilbao cost them Champions League qualification, meaning United will spend a first season without European football since 2014-15.
But the Red Devils' issues did not deter Brazil international Cunha, who completed his eagerly-anticipated £62.5million switch from Wolves on Thursday.

'It is the most common phrase that you can say at this moment, but this is the dream come true,' he told MUTV.
'Maybe outside, I think maybe my decision, they don't understand. But when you have always dreamed to play here, it's easier to pick this decision.
'For me, no-one else is like United. Of course, I know it's been a hard season for everyone. I think my decision shows what this club is for me and what I believe this club can be.
'And, of course, I'll do everything that I can to manage this inside of me, to play for my dream team and put my dream team to win.'
Cunha loved United growing up and spoke of his admiration for Wayne Rooney, along with many other members of the triumphant 2008 Champions League side.
The Red Devils are a long way from even qualifying for that competition right now, yet the forward has lofty ambitions.
'I don't think we have one player who comes here and then doesn't think about the glory days in Man United,' Cunha said.

'To remember all the times that they win the Premier League, how many titles it was, and of course to qualify for the Champions League. This is what I think about United, you know to put this club on top.
'Then what I can do is everything to show them I'm here to help the team, to conquer these kind of things.'
Cunha is the first of Amorim's summer recruits and the Brazilian, who has signed a deal until 2030 with the option of another year, is excited to work under the United head coach.
'I really believe in him, everything that he did in Portugal,' he said. 'I hope he can conquer the world like he did in Portugal.
'But of course I think he needs the players that can do everything like I'm open to do and help the team, help him. All the conversation that we have had made my decision easier.'

Irish stars fail to shine as Lions stagger to unconvincing win

Owen Farrell arrived into camp on Friday after being called-up as a replacement for the injured Elliot Daly and witnessed a display that fell well short of previous outings against Western Force and Queensland Reds. The heartbroken widow of Liverpool winger Diogo Jota was comforted by friends and family as she bid farewell to her late husband. Diogo, who was a winger for Liverpool, was tragically killed in a car crash alongside his brother André Silva in the Zamora region of Spain. His tragic death comes just 10 days after his wedding to Rute Cardoso, with whom he shared three children. He wouldn't go on to make an appearance in the Spanish capital but he was loaned back to his hometown club FC Porto where he had a breakout season in 2016/17, scoring 8 goals as Porto. As one of the brightest prospects in Portuguese football at this point it came as a shock then when Jota made the move to the midlands of England to join Wolverhampton Wanderers. Wolves were undergoing a revolution of the club which saw many Portuguese talents join but Jota would go down as one of the best. He played a crucial part in Wolves getting promoted from the Championship to the Premier League, scoring 17 goals in 44 games before establishing the side in the Premier League scoring nearly 20 goals over two season as Wolves established themselves as a strong Premier League side. His form in the midlands would see him make the big money move to Anfield to join Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool for £40million in September 2020. He would play a crucial part in the most successful period in Liverpool's recent history. He won the FA Cup in 2022 and played a part in Liverpool reaching the Champions League final that same year where they lost to Real Madrid in Paris. Jota's club success would translate to the International stage as he played a part in multiple tournaments for Portugal. Since making his debut in 2019 Jota earned 50 caps for his nation, including at the 2020 and 2024 European Championships as well as the 2022 World Cup. He most recently won the UEFA Nations League with Portugal, after they beat Spain 5-3 on penalties.
