British woman, 21, is 'raped by Syrian man, 31' in Greek party town of Malia
According to local outlet Cretapost, the tourist told police she had gone to a bar in the early hours of June 22.
She alleges that she met a man while there and spent time drinking with him.
It is claimed that after leaving the venue together, the man took her to a deserted location and raped her.
Greek police said a 31-year-old man from Syria has been identified and arrested in connection with the incident. He remains in custody.
The woman, who was on a short vacation, reported the alleged attack to police shortly afterwards. Officers launched an investigation and tracked down the suspect.
Authorities said the woman will be examined by a forensic doctor, whose findings are expected to provide more clarity as the investigation continues.

Man, 22, charged in killings of 'American Idol' music supervisor and her husband in Los Angeles
A 22-year-old man suspected in the shooting deaths of a longtime music supervisor for 'American Idol" and her husband at their home in Los Angeles was charged with two counts of murder Thursday. Police said officers conducting a welfare check Monday at a gated house in the Encino neighborhood found the bodies of a woman and man with gunshot wounds. The victims were later identified as Robin Kaye and Thomas Deluca, both 70. Raymond Boodarian, an Encino resident, was arrested Tuesday afternoon, police said. Investigators believe he was burglarizing the residence July 10 while the couple was away and shot them when they suddenly returned. Boodarian faces charges including murder and first-degree burglary, Deputy District Attorney Hilary Williams told reporters. Arraignment was scheduled for Aug. 20. COPS have released a CCTV photo as they hunt for a man after a woman was sexually assaulted on a bus in Doncaster. Authorities are looking to track down a man who boarded the 221 bus travelling from Church Street in Conisbrough to Alexander Road, Balby, on 9 July at 11:15am. 1 During the journey, the man allegedly sexually assaulted a woman. Enquiries are ongoing, cops said, and released the CCTV image of a man they wish to speak to in connection with the incident. The man is described as in his 60s, 5ft 8ins tall, of heavy build, with short grey hair, a grey moustache and glasses.
