Pakistan asks Russian President for help in settling dispute with India
Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in a letter, asked Russian President Vladimir Putin for help in settling the dispute with India.
This was announced by Syed Tariq Fatemi, Special Assistant to the Pakistani Prime Minister, on Wednesday during the Valdai Discussion Forum.
Fatemi said: "Neighbors cannot live in a situation where they are ready to start a war at any moment. We have dispatched important figures to several countries—to the United States, Russia, and the European Union—showing our readiness to listen to any proposal from any country, from the United Nations, or from neutral countries between India and Pakistan. We are ready to sit with them and let them resolve the issue."
The Pakistani official noted that he met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and delivered "a message from our prime minister and an appeal to His Excellency Mr. Putin. We have asked all these countries to use their influence so that India and Pakistan sit at the negotiating table and reach a peace agreement." Fatemi noted that Pakistan is awaiting any initiative from Russia that would reduce tensions in relations with India.
He said, "We are here to see Russia's support for any initiative that would reduce tensions. Pakistan and India must come to the negotiating table."
Indian-Pakistani relations deteriorated after the April 22 attack in Pahalgam (Jammu and Kashmir, India). On the night of May 7, the Indian Armed Forces launched Operation Sindur, claiming to have "targeted nine terrorist-related targets in Pakistan and its part of Kashmir."
The Pakistani army responded. On May 10, the two sides agreed to a ceasefire and to consider reducing troop numbers on the border.

"Democratic Front" Calls on Arab States, European Union to Assume Responsibility Towards Gaza Strip

It considered that 'the failure to activate these elements of power raises dozens of question marks among our peoples regarding the truth behind Arab positions and claims, and the decisions of Arab summits concerning the place and status of the Palestinian cause in Arab political calculations, and about the true sense of human, fraternal, and moral responsibility towards our people suffering the scourge of siege and daily killing.' The Democratic Front added: For its part, the European Union also possesses elements of power no less important than those of the Arabs, especially as the EU is the primary trade partner of the occupying state, and it is bound with it by agreements related to human rights and their respect, enabling it to impose its will on Israel and deter it, forcing it to open the crossings and allow the entry of aid as a minimum step to alleviate the suffering of women and children, in response to the Palestinian human being's right to food and to preserve his human dignity. The Democratic Front concluded: The history of humanity is documenting the humanitarian tragedy in the Gaza Strip, while also recording the positions of all parties, especially those that are influential and capable of intervention and putting an end to this tragedy. Bangladeshi plane crash death toll rises to 27
Dhaka - Saba: Bangladeshi authorities announced on Tuesday that the death toll from a fighter jet crash into a school in the capital, Dhaka, has risen to at least 27. According to the Bangladesh National News Agency, Syedur Rahman, Special Assistant to the Senior Advisor to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, said, "So far, the death toll is 27, including 25 children and one pilot." UN Renews Call for De-escalation Between Israel & Houthis Amid Rising Tensions in Yemen
The United Nations has once again urged all parties to exercise restraint and avoid further escalation following renewed hostilities between Israeli forces and Yemen's Houthi movement.
