Pakistani actress Humaira Asghar, who was found dead, laid to rest; no foul play suspected
If any foul play is involved, an FIR would be filed and legal proceedings would be carried out accordingly, police added read more Pakistani model and actress Humaira Asghar, who was found dead early this week, was finally laid to rest here even as the police said on Saturday that prima facie no foul play was suspected in her death. Only a few people attended her funeral in Model Town locality of Lahore on Friday evening. Earlier her family had refused to receive her body, disowning her for entering the showbiz. The 32-year-old actress-model, who lived alone in Karachi, had acted in several television serials and two films. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD Humaira, whose body was discovered in decomposed state earlier this week in an apartment in Karachi's upmarket Defence Housing Society, had died eight to 10 months ago, the initial post-mortem findings said. The autopsy report was released to the police but the coroner could not determine the actor's exact cause of death because of the level of decomposition. 'We are awaiting the chemical examination and histopathological reports. However, it appears that no foul play was involved in this case,' police said on Saturday. If any foul play is involved, an FIR would be filed and legal proceedings would be carried out accordingly, police added. Meanwhile, the actress' family's refusal to take her body for burial caused an uproar on social media with several people and government institutions coming forward to offer to arrange the burial. However, her brother Navid Asghar, who received the model's body after DNA matching, said the family had not refused to take the body. He admitted that the family had disowned her for joining showbiz against its wishes. 'The media's focus was entirely on our family. It never highlighted other possible causes of death,' he said. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD He said that Humaira was an 'independent person' who would not visit the family for extended periods. 'She moved to Karachi and had been living there for the last seven years. She didn't contact us for a year, although our mother would reach out to her some of the time,' he said and added Humaira's mobile phone had been switched off for the last six months. Humaira was a graduate of National College of Arts. She performed in Ajoka and Rafi Peer Theatre in about 100 plays before moving to modeling. She also performed in some TV plays and two films.

Pak fishing net buoy found washed ashore at Korlai beach in Raigad after six days of search operation
Navi Mumbai: A Pakistani fishing net buoy that had detached and drifted in the Arabian sea about five months ago and had disappeared after being spotted by the Indian Coast Guard on July 6 has been found washed ashore at Korlai beach in Murud taluka, Raigad district on Friday. Anchal Dalal, Raigad Superintendent of Police said, "The Pakistani boat's fishing net buoy was being searched for the past six days by multiple security agencies along Revdanda, Alibaug, Murud, Korlai and Mandwa beaches. Bomb detector devices were used to search for the buoy along the coastline. On Friday, the buoy was found washed ashore at Korlai beach. The GPS tracking system in the buoy would get activated in sunlight and the GPS signalling has been tracked to Pakistan, thus confirming that the buoy was of a Pakistani fishing boat to keep the fishing net afloat and the GRP tracker in the buoy is meant for tracking fishing activities. However, the buoy got detached during navigation and drifted and reached the sea in Raigad." While the Raigad police were searching for the Pakistani buoy, it was found that about 287 fishing boats in Raigad district were unauthorized. The police had sought details of the owners of more than 3,500 fishing boats in Raigad district. Out of them 2,800 fishing boats were found to be registered. BSF with Punjab Police apprehends smuggler with pistol in Tarn Taran
Tarn Taran (Punjab) [India], July 12 (ANI): In a successful joint operation, the Border Security Force (BSF) and Punjab Police apprehended a smuggler along with a pistol and magazine near Miyawali Chowk in Khemkaran area of Tarn Taran district late Friday night, according to a BSF statement. The accused has been identified as a resident of Miyawali village and is currently in the custody of the Police Station Khemkaran. Authorities have launched a detailed investigation to uncover his suspected links with illegal cross-border activities and determine the motive behind possessing the firearm. This significant apprehension with weapon demonstrates the professional competence and unflinching dedication of the BSF troops and Punjab Police who are committed to securing the nation's border as well as foil terror activities in the hinterland. In a separate intelligence-driven operation earlier this week, the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) Punjab has successfully stopped a major terror plot by Harwinder Rinda, a Pakistan-based Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) operative supported by Pakistan's ISI. Using important information, the AGTF team found and took away weapons from a forest in Gurdaspur. They recovered two AK-47 rifles with 16 bullets, two magazines, and two hand grenades before these weapons could reach Harwinder Rinda's helpers. In a post on X, DGP Punjab Police said, 'In an intelligence-led operation, the Anti-Gangster Task Force (#AGTF) Punjab successfully foiled a major terror plot orchestrated by Harwinder Rinda, a Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) operative based in #Pakistan and backed by Pakistan's ISI. Acting swiftly on human intelligence, AGTF teams traced and recovered a large cache of terrorist hardware, including two AK-47 rifles with 16 live cartridges, two magazines, and two P-86 hand grenades from a forest area in #Gurdaspur, before it could reach Harwinder @ Rinda's associates.' The first investigation shows that these weapons were sent into India by Pakistani groups and Harwinder Rinda to carry out attacks in different places in Punjab. Their goal was to disturb peace in the state. A police case has been registered under the Explosives Act and the Arms Act at the Purana Shala police station in Gurdaspur. 'Preliminary investigation reveals, the recovered consignment was pushed into India by Pakistani agencies and Harwinder @ Rinda as part of a premeditated plan to carry out attacks at multiple locations in Punjab, aiming to disrupt public peace. An FIR under the Explosives Act and the Arms Act has been registered at PS Purana Shala, Gurdaspur,' the post reads. The police are still investigating to find and catch the people working with Rinda who were involved in this weapons smuggling. (ANI)
