Culture & community spirit unite in UAE celebrations

Bhubaneswar: Rath Yatra in Dubai, organised by the Odisha Samaj UAE (OSUAE), was held for the 15th year with the participation of 500 Odias and other Indian families living across the Emirates. The event, held at Star International School, included chariot pulling, rituals performed as per Puri customs, and a rich display of Odia culture and community spirit. 'Chhera Pahanra' was performed by Amiya Mishra, president of OSUAE. Adding to the celebrations was an array of delicacies cooked by Odias living in UAE. The festivities were further enriched by vibrant cultural programmes, including Odissi dance performances, sankirtan and 'bhajan sandhya' by Indians. "The cultural and spiritual fusion reflects the true spirit of tolerance, unity, and diversity that the UAE proudly embodies," said Sudhashree Dash, a member of OSUAE. Prasad was cooked by Odia cooks based in Dubai. "This is more than just a festival for us. It is our emotional connection with Odisha. For 15 years now, we have been able to recreate a piece of Odisha in the heart of UAE," said Prakash Bahinipati, cultural secretary of OSUAE. The chariot was built of wood in Dubai and décor sourced from Odisha. Rath Yatra was also organised at Spring Dales School, Al Quoz, Dubai, on Sunday.

The much-anticipated Hera Pheri 3 is officially back on track with its original trio – Akshay Kumar, Paresh Rawal, and Suniel Shetty – reuniting for what is being touted as one of Indian cinema's most iconic comedy franchises. After initially exiting the project in May 2025, Paresh Rawal has now confirmed his return, sparking excitement among fans. In an interview with Pinkvilla, producer Firoz Nadiadwala shared how several key industry figures played a pivotal role in resolving the differences that had stalled the project. 'With love, respect, and kind guidance of my brother Sajid Nadiadwala, and also Mr. Ahmed Khan, Hera Pheri family is back together. My brother, Sajid put in a lot of personal time and efforts, over several days to resolve the matter. We have a bond of over 50 years," he said. Firoz also praised director Ahmed Khan for his dedication, stating, 'Ahmed too put in a lot of personal efforts. So it is with the love and guidance of Sajid and Ahmed, that everything is now productive and positive." Importantly, Akshay Kumar played a key role in making things right. 'We also have Akshay ji's support. We both have shared a very good bond since 1996. He was very kind, loving, and affectionate in the entire process of sorting the issues," Firoz revealed. He added that Priyadarshan, who is returning to direct the third installment, as well as Suniel Shetty and Paresh Rawal, were all supportive of the film coming together again. A source close to the development told Pinkvilla that Sajid Nadiadwala initiated the reconciliation process for the greater good, and Akshay Kumar, known for his long-standing friendship with Sajid, didn't hesitate to come on board and smoothen things out. With Priyadarshan on board, Hera Pheri 3 is expected to go on floors by late 2025. 'This will be one more entertainer in the family franchise of Hera Pheri. We are all going to work very hard. The family is now together," Firoz added. Meanwhile, Nadiadwala's other comedy, Welcome To The Jungle, is also in production and will wrap up after two more schedules.
