Aamir Khan says Paki cricketer Javed Miandad ruined his wedding with Reena Dutta, put him in depression: ‘I said Javed bhai aapne theek nahi kiya'

Aamir Khan and Reena Dutta were neighbours when they first met each other. Soon, love blossomed between the two. However, when Reena's parents found out about their affair, they made her promise to never meet the actor. This made things difficult for the couple. To overcome their fear of losing each other due to parents' objection, the young love birds decided to secretly tie the knot in a court marriage. Aamir Khan patiently waited to turn 21 when he found out that it was necessary for the man to be 21 to legally get married. On March 14, he turned 21. A few days later, they tied the knot.
In a conversation with The Lallantop, Aamir Khan shared details about the day he got married to Reena Dutta and how Pakistani cricketer Javed Miandad ruined his wedding. The actor said both he and Reena were scared to return home after their big step. 'Mujhe laga sab puchenge kaha the itni der (We thought our families will question us about being so late),' said Aamir Khan. But, luckily, it was a day when India had a match against Pakistan and everyone in their families were so engrossed in the match that they never noticed Aamir or Reena's absence. However, the match put Aamir Khan in depression.
The actor recalled, 'It was India-Pakistan match day. The same match where Javed Miandad hit a six on the last ball. We were winning that match so nobody cared to ask us about our absence for so long. I too joined them and was watching cricket, however, Javed's six ruined it all. Once I happened to meet him on the flight when I told him, 'Javed bhai aapne theek nahi kiya. Aapne meri shadi barbaad kardi (You ruined my wedding). He was like, 'Kaise? (How)' I said, 'Usi din aapne chakka mara tha. Depression mein chala gaya tha mai. (Your six put me in depression.)''

A few months later, their parents found out about their secret marriage which brought a huge storm in the couple's lives. Reena's parents were so upset that they cut ties with her. It also resulted in her father suffering a heart attack. However, the health scare also became a reason behind bringing the family close. Eventually, Reena's family accepted her marriage to Aamir Khan. Later, Aamir's younger sister Farhat tied the knot with Reena's brother Rajeev. This brought Reena's father closer to Aamir Khan.
Reena and Aamir stayed married for 16 years. They finalised their divorce in 2002. They co-parents their kids Junaid Khan and Ira Khan.

‘Kannappa' box office collections day 7: Vishnu Manchu's film mints Rs 30.10 crores

After much hype and anticipation, 'Kannappa', the mythological epic headlined by Vishnu Manchu, has concluded its first week at the box office with underwhelming figures. Despite boasting a massive star ensemble including Prabhas, Mohanlal, Akshay Kumar, and Kajal Aggarwal in key roles, the film has earned Rs 30.10 crore (India net) in seven days. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Slow slide after a strong start According to the Sacnilk website, the film opened to a decent start on its first Friday as it collected Rs 9.35 crore across all languages. However, the weekend showed a gradual dip instead of growth, with Saturday bringing in Rs 7.15 crore and Sunday closing at Rs 6.9 crore. While these numbers indicated a mild fall, the real trouble began post-weekend. The weekday collections saw a sharp decline as Monday brought just Rs 2.3 crore, followed by Rs 1.8 crore on Tuesday. The trend continued with ₹1.35 crore on Wednesday and Rs 1.25 crore on Thursday (early estimates). Low occupancy adds to woes 'Kannappa' struggled with theatre occupancy too. On its seventh day, the Telugu version saw an average occupancy of only 12.89%. Morning shows stood at 11.06%, improving slightly for night shows at 13.99%. The situation was more grim for the Hindi version, which recorded just 6.61% overall occupancy — the morning shows started as low as 4.31%. Star power couldn't save the mythological drama Kannappa - Official Hindi Trailer Directed with grandeur and ambition, 'Kannappa' was expected to ride on the shoulders of its leading cast and visual scale. Alongside Vishnu Manchu, the film features veteran actors like Mohan Babu and R. Sarathkumar, along with a special appearance by Prabhas. But the early signs indicate that star power alone hasn't been enough to pull the audience in consistently. Unless a miraculous turnaround happens over the next weekend, 'Kannappa' might end up being one of the biggest underperformers among big-budget mythological releases this year.
