Tennessee Titans QB Will Levis will have season-ending shoulder surgery

CNN4 days ago
Tennessee quarterback Will Levis will have season-ending shoulder surgery, keeping him from competing for playing time in his third season with the Titans.
The Titans announced Monday that Levis made his decision after consulting with doctors and his representatives. The Titans report Tuesday for training camp.
'We support his decision to focus on his long-term health,' the Titans said in a statement. 'He approached the offseason with professionalism and showed clear growth as a leader. We remain confident in his full recovery.'

Levis' surgery is scheduled for July 29.
The Titans used the No. 1 overall pick on quarterback Cam Ward in April after Levis struggled mightily starting 12 games in 2024. He threw for 2,091 yards, but he had 13 TD passes with 12 interceptions. He was sacked 41 times as Tennessee went 3-14 to land the top draft pick.
Tennessee also added veteran quarterbacks Brandon Allen and Tim Boyle this offseason.
Levis was the 33rd overall pick in 2023 when Tennessee's previous general manager Ran Carthon traded up to select the quarterback out of Kentucky. Carthon lasted just two seasons before being fired in January.
The quarterback started 12 games in 2024 after spraining the AC joint in his right, throwing shoulder September 30 against Miami while diving for a first down. Tennessee had a bye, then Levis played against Indianapolis in a home loss by three points after a late-game interception.
Levis admitted after the game his shoulder played a part in that late pick. He was sidelined the next three games before returning.
After the Titans took Ward in the draft, coach Brian Callahan rotated quarterbacks during the offseason program with no starter announced, which he said he planned to continue into training camp. Still, Ward is expected to be the starter when the Titans open the regular season.
That seemed to leave the competition for the No. 2 position wide open for Levis, who took part throughout the team's offseason program. He told reporters in June he felt more comfortable in his second season in Callahan's offense and was looking forward to training camp.
'I feel like I'm starting to get to that point as a quarterback, and it's just cool to feel that and see it and show everyone else here,' Levis said during minicamp.
The Titans announced late Monday afternoon the last of their nine draft picks signed his rookie contract.
Linebacker Oluwafemi Oladejo was the 52nd selection overall in the second round. He started 27 of 46 games, switching to edge rusher last year season when he had 4.5 sacks and 13.5 tackles for loss at UCLA.

Bengals, Nick Saban Connection Emerges in Stunning Suggestion

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. The 2025 NFL season has begun with training camp and the Cincinnati Bengals will be an interesting team to watch. After missing the playoffs last season, there is a sense of urgency surrounding the franchise. Should the Bengals miss the playoffs once again this season, some major changes could come next. Zac Taylor, the team's head coach, is likely facing some pressure heading into this year. His job could very well be on the line. Joe Burrow played at an MVP level last season. That wasn't enough to lift Cincinnati into the playoffs. Moving forward, the team will have to figure out how to get back to being a Super Bowl contender like it was just a few short years ago. Head coach Nick Saban of the Alabama Crimson Tide reacts to a play during the second quarter against the Georgia Bulldogs in the SEC Championship at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on December 02, 2023 in Atlanta, Georgia. If the team comes up short of expectations, could the Bengals look to bring in a new head coach? Read more: Steelers' DK Metcalf Puts NFL on Notice With Bold Warning With that being said, who could the team look to replace Taylor with? A shocking suggestion has been made. That suggestion is none other than legendary college football head coach Nick Saban, who has started coming up in rumors about a potential return to coaching in the NFL. Nick Wright, a notable sports analyst, spoke out and revealed that he believes Cincinnati would be a potential destination for Saban. "I'll throw a different one at you that is same state, different team. If this coming year goes the way I think it might for Cincinnati, I think Nick Saban is an interesting idea there," Wright said. "Listen, got to coach up the defense, got to have someone to actually have as big of a voice in the organization as the owner, got to clean up some of the nonsense going in the years they deal with every year, again, most of which is owner-related. And let Joe and Jamar handle the offense. Almost offload the offense to them." He continued on, sharing his belief that Saban would want to join a team that can compete right away after taking over. "You handle the details, finding some of the edges in young players from the college game that you're very aware of their skillset, and coach up the defense. Because the only point that you made that I disagree with is, if I'm Nick Saban and I want to do this, I'm not that interested in a studs-to-the-top-down rebuild. I'm much more interested in, I've got three or four years. Let me see if I can have a contender immediately. I think the Bengals who, if they miss the playoffs again, probably will be looking for a new coach. I think they could be an attractive one." He may not choose to return to coaching. But, if he does, he might have interest in heading back to the NFL and proving to himself that he can succeed at that level as well. In that scenario, the Bengals could be one of the best possible landing spots for Saban. For more Cincinnati Bengals and NFL news, head over to Newsweek Sports.

Colorado football offers Wisconsin committed 2026 defensive lineman

Colorado football extended an offer to class of 2026 defensive lineman and Wisconsin commit Djidjou Bah on Friday. Bah committed to the Badgers on June 1 but seems to be open to a possible change of heart after visiting Missouri on June 20. The Buffaloes became the 25th program to offer the three-star lineman. 247Sports ranks Bah as the No. 92 defensive lineman in the class of 2026 and the No. 21 recruit from his home state of Tennessee. Colorado and head coach Deion Sanders have been after multiple committed prospects recently as the program tries to boost its 80th-ranked class. According to Bah's offer announcement, Colorado's defensive line coach, Domata Peko, is Bah's primary contact, which could go a long way towards a possible flip. Peko was one of the better defensive linemen during his era, and the idea of playing for him was a definite lure for recruits. Follow Charlie Strella on X, Threads and Instagram. Ayari scores again as Albion continue pre-season programme

Yasin Ayari scored another pre-season goal as Albion beat his old club. Ayari was set up by Matt O'Riley for the opener in a 2-0 victory over Coventry City behind closed doors at Lancing. Abdallah Sima, back in training at Lancing after his season on loan at Brest, added the second. Playing time for most starters was upped to 63 minutes after the 45-minute allocations in the first three friendlies. Among the players to come on 18 minutes into the second half was Ferdi Kadioglu, playing his first minutes since suffering injury at Liverpool last October. Kadioglu trained with the group during their recent trip to Marbella. Jeremy Sarmiento, who was not involved in the trip to Spain, also had some playing time. O'Riley teed up an open goal for Ayari in the friendly win over Las Palmas and this time his cross was headed home by the Sweden midfielder. Ayari has shown a good ability to get deep into the opposing penalty area and he arrived at the far post for a simple finish after O'Riley was released by Brajan Gruda. An offside flag denied O'Riley what would also have been a second goal in as many games. He also shot narrowly wide in the second half. Sima scored late in a competitive tussle after a cut-back by Andrew Moran. Adam Webster (knee) and Facundo Buonanotte (ankle) were among those who did not take part as Albion assess injuries.
