Sixth edition of Kochi-Muziris Biennale titled ‘For the Time Being', to get under way on December 12
Curated by artist Nikhil Chopra with HH Art Spaces, a Goa-based artist-led organisation, the biennale will run for 110 days, from December 12, 2025, through March 31, 2026.
Curatorial framework
The KBF also announced the curatorial framework for KMB '25. Alongside the international exhibition, the biennale will feature a diverse programme of talks, performances, workshops, and film screenings, unfolding across various sites in Kochi. Key programme verticals include the Students' Biennale, Invitations, Art By Children, the Residency Programme and the Collateral.
The curatorial note by Nikhil Chopra states that the sixth edition of the KMB will embrace process as methodology and position 'friendship economies' as the very scaffolding of the exhibition.
Moving away from the conventional biennale model of a singular, central exhibition event, the sixth edition is envisioned as a living ecosystem 'one where each element shares space, time, and resources, and grows in dialogue with each other,' a release issued here said.
KBF Chair V. Venu said the biennale, over its past editions, has consistently risen in stature, attracting artworks from both celebrated and emerging talents from India and abroad.
'Organising such an event needs meticulous planning and strategies. We have introduced important organisational changes in the Kochi Biennale Foundation and we are confident to make a grand success of the sixth edition of the biennale. For both commoners and connoisseurs, it will offer a dynamic experience,' he was quoted as saying in the release.
Bose Krishnamachari, president of the Kochi-Muziris Biennale, said that Nikhil Chopra's emphasis on durational exhibitions and performances will be a highlight of the sixth edition. 'Those visiting the biennale will be introduced to an immersive atmosphere, featuring spectacular artworks and site-responsive installations. The event will also offer abundant opportunities to engage with artists and fellow art enthusiasts, and witness the layered cultural life of Kochi, a city where global and local currents converge and diverge all at once,' he said.

Film on Kittel: Techie's cinematic tribute to author of first Kannada-English dictionary
Bengaluru: Long before modern digital tools and standardised linguistic references, a remarkable milestone in the history of the Kannada language was quietly achieved in the late 19th century. Perhaps no other Dravidian languages found a lexicographer then, but in Kannada, a comprehensive Kannada-English dictionary was published way back in 1894 by German missionary Ferdinand Kittel, paving the way for future studies in Kannada linguistics. While Kittel and his works have taken a backseat over the last 130 years, a Mysuru-based techie-turned-filmmaker, Prashant Pandit, has brought back the memories of Kittel in his latest non-fiction and period film, The Word and the Teacher (Das Wort und Der Lehrer), recollecting the life and works of Kittel both in Germany and Karnataka. The film will be screened at Bangalore International Centre (BIC), Domlur, from 11am to 1pm on July 27. Indian languages always fascinated Pandit, who worked at Hewlett-Packard (HP). His interest in the evolution of languages and scripts made him dive deep into the linguistic world, and that was when he came across Kittel's work. "From being an outsider to the language to publishing the first comprehensive dictionary comprising prominent dialects, Kittel did remarkable work in Kannada. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like No annual fees for life UnionBank Credit Card Apply Now Undo Now it is a lot easier to pick up any language. But in the 1870s, barring some level of conversational Kannada, it was humanly impossible for an outsider to master the language and bring out a dictionary of 70,000 words! I was curious to know how Kittel learnt Kannada so clearly and took up the project," Pandit recollected his journey, which started in 2020. You Can Also Check: Bengaluru AQI | Weather in Bengaluru | Bank Holidays in Bengaluru | Public Holidays in Bengaluru Planning to make a 15–20-minute film on Kittel initially, Pandit began scouting for details from Mangaluru, Madikeri, Dharwad, Ooty, and Germany. But his extensive research during the Covid-19 pandemic opened several unexpected details about Kittel's life, works, and contributions to Kannada language and literature. "Then I was convinced that a short film format would not do justice to the man who devoted his entire life to Kannada, and decided to produce a full feature-length film, tracing his journey from Resterhafe on the northwestern coast of Germany to Canara (Karnataka), along with a few of my friends who helped me with the film. " The 80-minute, tri-lingual period film, shot in various locations where Kittel lived and worked both in south India and Germany, has adopted the first-person narration technique. "Documentaries usually have anecdotal references, interviews, or soundbites along with visuals. But our film does not feature any of these, and Kittel himself narrates his life and works based on his own letters to his kids and superiors throughout the film. I wanted it to be realistic, authentic, and there should not be any room for fictional fantasies. We have included archival photographs from the 19th century, folk songs, and poems penned and translated by Kittel," Pandit explained. Being a developer, Pandit, during his research visits to Mangaluru and other places, discovered that Kittel used unique fonts in all the typefaces of Kannada. "All of these were designed and cast in Europe and brought to India. Aesthetically, they were eye-catching and pleasing for readers. Then it struck me, what if we develop the same into modern-day digital fonts as part of Indic computing. Subsequently, I brought out these unique digital fonts based on Kittel's typefaces and named it 'Karnataka F Kittel font' after him. This Unicode font is free of charge and available on the open-source platform," Pandit explained. "Barring a few write-ups and a few doctoral theses, there are not many details available about his work and life here. Out of his 71 years, Kittel spent about 40-45 years in Karnataka. After his missionary work, when Kittel was sent back, the Britishers recalled him. In fact, his dictionary was the first-ever crowd-funded project as it was funded by the Mysore kings, British officers, and other philanthropists. From the day he landed in Karnataka till the publication, he literally noted down every word in multiple dialects of south, north, and coastal Karnataka. Some of the words even have descriptions spanning 2-3 pages!" Pandit said.

Travis Kelce took Taylor Swift obsession to the racetrack with surprise stake in horse named ‘Swift Delivery'
From touchdowns to thoroughbreds, Travis Kelce's love for Taylor Swift finds a poetic stride with 'Swift Delivery' (Getty Images) Two years into their whirlwind romance, Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift have become a cultural phenomenon that bridges the worlds of sports and music. With every public display of affection—from tour stop shout-outs to championship game cuddles—their relationship has only grown stronger. But in a throwback that left even their fans amused and impressed, Kelce took his admiration for Swift from the football field to the racetrack in a gesture that felt straight out of a love story. A surprise stake from Travis Kelce that galloped with symbolism Long before they became one of the most talked-about celebrity couples, few would've imagined that Travis Kelce's obsession with Swift would one day inspire a racehorse connection. Yet, that's exactly what happened when the Kansas City Chiefs star quietly bought a stake in a 3-year-old racehorse—named, rather poetically, Swift Delivery. This unique investment was made public through a press release by Florida-based Team Valor International, revealing: 'Travis Kelce joins Team Valor International & Gary Barber in ownership of 3-year-old SWIFT DELIVERY.' According to reports, Kelce's stake was acquired via his existing ties with the Zoldan family, a move that surprised many and delighted fans who follow the couple's journey. Travis Kelce buys stake in Ontario-based horse named Swift Delivery Interestingly, Barry Irwin, CEO of Team Valor, recalled his first meeting with Kelce at the Kentucky Derby. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Indian Investors Are Buying These Dubai Apartments—Here's Why Binghatti Developers FZE Explore Undo They bonded over horses and racing, and when Swift Delivery entered the scene—already owned by one of Irwin's partners—he thought to himself, 'this has got to be a no-brainer.' Yet, in an ironic twist, Irwin emphasized that the horse's name was a 'total coincidence' and 'not inspired by the pop star.' Still, fans couldn't help but connect the dots—and neither, it seemed, could Kelce. The Taylor Swift effect gallops beyond headlines Kelce's rise in cultural relevance has mirrored the timeline of his relationship with Swift. While he was already a household name in the NFL , his visibility soared after their romance began. From breaking podcast records to dominating Super Bowl storylines, Kelce's life has turned into what many dub 'The Taylor Swift Effect.' Nowhere was this more evident than with his New Heights podcast, which Kelce co-hosts with his brother, Jason. The show skyrocketed in popularity—especially after Travis made it known he had tried (and failed) to give Swift a friendship bracelet during her Eras Tour stop. Since then, the podcast inked a whopping $100 million deal with Amazon's Wondery, with the third season currently on pause, likely due to the growing demand for both brothers' time. Even if the name Swift Delivery was a happy accident, Kelce's choice to back that particular horse seems far from coincidental. For a man whose heart is clearly set on Taylor, owning a horse that carries her name—accidentally or not—feels like yet another chapter in their very public, very endearing love story. FAQs 1. Did Travis Kelce really name a horse after Taylor Swift? No, the horse Swift Delivery was not named by Kelce, but he later acquired a stake in it. 2. What is the connection between Travis Kelce and Team Valor? Kelce joined Team Valor International through his partnership with the Zoldan family. 3. When did Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce meet? They first connected after Kelce attended Swift's Eras Tour concert in July 2023.
